Do you just go to a GP or do you see and Endo? I can give you the name of the Endo I used to see in New West when I lived there..... Just email me if you want it....

It has been a few years, but I used to go to the Eagle Ridge Diabetic Clinic and the staff there were wonderful and really helpful..... (Of course I had a referral)I don't know they they still have the clinic there anymore what with all the changes they made to the Health systems in BC over the last 8 or 10 years.....

If you don't mind sharing, what are your numbers at night and what do you eat before bed. Maybe we can help a bit in that area until you get your medical team in place.

I have tested at night and eaten at night and sometimes it makes a difference and sometime it does not. I think I need a new doctor.

Fasting check daily & the 1-2 times additional most days, typically after breakfast & after supper. I try to plan my meals/snacks based on my readings & keep a log for my dr.

Angela, do you ever test at night before you go to bed? What about a snack before going to bed?

If your results are higher in the morning than they were the night before, and you didn't eat, you could be experiencing the Dawn Phenomenon. Often, all it takes is a snack of about 15 grams carbs along with 7 grams of protein before going to sleep. But it is something to test and track to make sure you find the correct snack for you.....

Hope you get settled soon as the longer this goes unchecked, the more damage it can do.....

Good luck.....

Right now I try to remember to test first thing in the morning, but I get so discouraged as it is always high. Once I get settled I am going to start testing more often to really try to get this under control

Fasting?
Before Meals? Which Ones?
After Meals? Which Ones?
Before Bed?

Or just once in awhile?

Do you react to your readings, (have a snack if too low, take insulin if too high, etc) or just record and report to your doctor?
