I know that it can be hard to accept, but .......

You don't want to be that occasional high to become the norm...... because that is when the trouble starts.

Our sugars can spike for any number of reasons, like Mary said, so we need to be aware of what is going on around us and how we respond to it. Also, as you test, you may start to notice which foods affect you in certain ways. Keep a journal if you can, as that can provide good feedback.

Best wishes to you and please let us know how things go for you.......

you know it takes a while to accept these things and diet and exercise can control them..but other things tend to happen in life and those are beyond our control that haigh blood sugar could have come from a multitude of places from stress, from a virus moving in you don't know about yet..even from dawn syndrome which occurs when your blood sugars go too low in the night and the liver compensates with stored sugars or you ate something and didn't quite remember..drinking more water should bring that right back down in a few hours DRINK MORE WATER
next time you see your doc ask him about that if your sugar returns to what is normal for you carry on (of course with the extra water too lol) sometimes things just happen but i am glad you do the testing already

I have a confession. Honestly I sometimes doubt this diabetes thing. Don't know why. Maybe it's because I'm diet/exercise controlled. I don't deal with the meds or injections at this time.

Then I get hit with a bg of 228 (Friday night) and I say, "Yup, I'm diabetic"
