Thanks for the suggestions. I have found a low carb bread at Whole Foods that is working well with me.

Make sure there is a balanced ratio of protein and fat to the carb of the bread.

Look for low carb bread. I have never seen it, but I have heard someone else mention it.

Make smaller (half) sandwiches, use just 1 slice of bread instead of 2.

Use lettuce leaves to wrap your filling, such as chicken or tuna salad.

Also: --
While fat does not have a direct impact on BS levels, our weight does and the more we weight, the more it affects our BS. So........

If my sandwich is to have mayo, I never use butter or margarine so that I CAN have the mayo and still keep the calories within limits.

I read the labels and make sure the mayo I buy has the lowest grams of carb per serving as I can get.

Hope some of these ideas help. Let us know what you find works best for you.

I love sandwiches. This is what I am going to miss most out of my eating habits. I was eating Klosterman Homestyle wheat bread. It jacks my blood sugar really high. So I went with no bread for a few days. I thought I would try Pita Bread today with my vegie burgers. Well, whole wheat Pita bread is out of the question. It jacked my blood sugar 128 points after 1 and a half hours. *sighs* So what next? I guess I will have to try tortilla shells for my sandwich cravings. Any suggestions?
