I joined Sparkpeople at the beginning of January. I'm desterate to loose weight and feel better but didn't even know where to begin. Everything is still a bit overwhelming but I just did my first mini challenge of 100 calf raises with a chair. Thank you to momof6boys for suggesting. Now, I'm checking out other things on Sparkpeople and hope to start doing them consistantly. emoticon

Did not get calf raises done today. I just got off work. I worked in the school lunchroom today. I had to sweep and mop the lunchroom, move tables and then put them back. Got alot of walking, cardio, and strenght lifting in. I am sore.

Every morning when I brush my teeth, I try to fit in 30-60 of those calf killers--it's a good way to fit them in. 100 was quite the push this morning!

I just recently joined this team and like the idea of these mini challenges! I've done 25 and will pace myself throughout the rest of the afternoon. These are a little tricky for me since one of my calves is atrophied and I can no longer raise myself up with it. I guess I'll just look at it as being an even better workout for my right leg! Thanks again for these daily challenges!

I finished them this morning. Wow. Legs are a wee bit wobbly. Yesterday I shovelled snow for 2 hours. So definitely a great work out. Thank you. I did it. emoticon

IT IS TUESDAY!!!! I hope you all had a FANTASTIC start to the new week!

Today's challenge will be....100 Calf Raises with Chair! You have all day to complete these...they are so soothing and relaxing...so I hope you enjoy them as much as I do! It is just 10 sets of 10...or 5 sets of 20...whatever way you choose to do them!!!!

Starting Position

Stand facing a wall or back of chair and lightly hold onto it with fingertips to aid balance. Legs should be shoulder-width apart and straight. Do not lock knees.

Action

EXHALE: Raise up on balls of feet, and hold for 2 seconds.

INHALE: Return to start position and repeat.

Special Instructions

Try not to let heels touch or rest on ground between repetitions unless necessary. As you progress, use one foot at a time.
