The only time I overdue is holidays, conformations, communions, kids parties, etc. Why?
You guess it. They have sweets I don't have at home. My eyes spy them and my head doesn't say no, so I march over with good intensions, but they never last.

But I am starting to take off what I gained at Easter, just in time for the conformation and kids birthday party coming soon.

My family is well rounded when it comes to food. Variety abounds. We regularly do Italian, Brazilian, Chinese, Japanese, Greek you name it. The other night we tried out a new crepe cafe, that's all they do.
So my problem is just over doing, not one thing. I must be careful at the buffet.

One food I found out that is making me gain is stuffed mushrooms. The mushroom is fine, it is the breading inside and that is the delicious part. I suppose just having that for lunch may not put weight, but with lunch on top of it, sure will. So how about you guys? What food is making you gain weight?

As far as taste goes, I'm figuring out slowly that just because I want a taste doesn't mean I need to eat. I can have a taste and fit pretty much anything within my calories but don't need to eat all of the time.

As far as the cooking question, part of what Camey mentioned is in the preparation. Vegetables are low calorie but it depends on what you add and how you cook them. Frying means oil and while a little oil can be good for the types of fats (depending on the type), a serving is very small so the calories will add up fast. Baking with just a small spritz of an oil for flavor plus no calorie seasonings will help bring it down but still provide the benefits. Just one example. Raw veggies good too if you like those, just don't drown them in ranch. emoticon

Sometimes it about substitutes. For instance, unsweetened cashew milk. Only 25 calories per cup. Light taste, excellent consistency. Fry lean pork chops; start in the pan with water or broth and cover, with medium heat, until near complete and liquid is cooked away. Then turn up the heat, add 1 teaspoon of oil to hot pan and any spice/flavorings and brown.

Then other times it's about moderation. All the time it's about taste, but taste does not mean taste, taste and taste again; savor the flavor.

Mushrooms are low in calories, but if you stuff them then they have lots of calories.
Zucchini and eggplant are low vegs but if you fry them then they are not.
What I am trying to say is the foods are fine, it is what you put on them that puts the weight on.

So what can we do to lessen the calories, if we want to dress them up.

Any solutions?
