Definitely going to count calories on the days leading up to Thanksgiving. This way I can monitor, get enough calories per day but keep at the lower end of the range (since the overall week is going to be more important number wise than a single day). That way I won't worry much on Thanksgiving. I probably won't count any calories that day but guess I'll have 1800 ish cause turkey, sides and dessert.

Indeed. Greek yogurt was a great breakfast and they have so many flavors. I was putting 1/4th a cup of oats mixed in with a serving of greek yogurt. Was really good with pumpkin and even one brand had coffee flavored. There is a non-dairy version, with soy, but they only have like 3 flavors. Dairy does have decent protein. I get some when i use almond milk and such, I just don't use it very often. I'll find a way though, it's a learning process.

Still using myfitnesspal site for calories. It's not too bad. Like sparkpeople it has most foods in the database. It helps to keep track for me cause I'm not a consistent over-eater. In fact, I also have too many times where I don't eat enough. So, I have to eat enough and find a good balance. Need to work on my protein some but am at a good start.

Counting calories is no fun. Do you count them? Is there a sure way to lose weight? How do you do it? What do you eat? Do you exercise?

I used to scrap off the bad stuff and add veggies as best I could so that I wasn't getting much of it. Still the crust adds calories too. The other day had to go to children party and they had pizza but I didn't eat it. Had small dish of salad as only other there were dips and because I was hungry got into the dips. Then still hungry had small cup of ice cream and some cake.
Took a banana with me but it wasn't enough. We have another next month so I am going to eat first before I go. It will probably be pizza and dips again. I ended up gaining .8 so now going to work it off and try to go down more. Still doing bike 40 min and now that it is cold going to try walking up the street so if my legs bother me I am not far from home.

lol. yeah... And I usually get the frozen pizzas so it's hard not to eat the whole thing. I can eat just a couple slices of delivery pizza, but for the little frozen ones, it's hard not to want it all. I do have a couple but I'm gonna add veggies and make sure I only eat some of it, stretch it out over a couple of days.

Yeah. I have that problem when really watching what I eat as the same foods do get old after a while. Only so many ways I can eat chicken and salad before I get tired and crave a nice cheesy pizza. lol

I eat what I want only not too much of it. It is eating a lot of something that makes you gain.
Sweets is usually my weakness but I don't keep them in the house. I have some oatmeal cookies in the freezer and I take one or two a day. Sometimes, I have a Rice Krispie bar and some ice cream so I am not wanting for sure. Just need to cut down the amount a little and fill it up with other stuff, like veggies. Today had a salad with everything in it. Tomorrow is a kids party so will have to watch the goodies. Mon not sure what I will make as I have the allergy doc in the morning. I have made salmon cakes and they are good. Hard to think of things to make as it is usually the same old stuff day in and day out.

Obviously, he's a doctor so knows more as to his own reasoning. Just don't let it keep you from enjoying life too. ;-)

The reason for my losing is because of a problem he found with my health and if I lose some weight my body will react better. I have it all in the middle of my stomach. If I can get rid of that then I think he and I will be happy. It causes my back and legs to act up so I am trying.
Have to get rid of the stuff in the house first. Won't take long. Already froze the cookies and will take one a day. The chips, oven baked, will soon be gone. It doesn't mean I can't spluge once in a while. I have a year before I see him again.

Hmm... I wouldn't like them. While I understand the reason the weight recommendations are certain ways, that doesn't work and if one wants me to be 120 cause i'm short, and if meant I couldn't enjoy a little food sometimes, I'd not go back. I understand being healthy and such, but got to enjoy life too while we have it.

Right now my big goal is 160 and I'll see how it goes from there. Have to get there first and not gain it all back. Then I'll see how I feel.

Went to new GYN yesterdayand like him. He wants me to lose weight, more than the 5 I wanted to lose. I am in a size l2 now and I think he is looking for me to go to a size 8. I was ll0 when in a size 8, which means I can't enjoy eating anymore. Doesn't take much to add on.
I lost .8 this morning so I am back on track.

Right now, I'm logging my food on myfitnesspal since a couple of my writing.com buddies are using it. They do have a decent data base, so that's good, but it's tiring even after just 5 days of keeping track.

I have been lucky with the cook outs and parties and lost instead of gained. If I do gain I lose it asap. But trying to get to those last 5 lbs lbs. it just never happens. I am not limited to doing exercise for walking and weights, so only use the bike and then sometimes get spasms so have to becareful eating too much as will have problem taking it off.

Sometimes but it gets old fast. It's kind of depressing to think one has to watch the numbers for most of their life. I'm hoping once I get healthy it comes more natural because I don't want to have to track the calories all the time.
