Here's how this contest is going to work:

You need to cover as many miles as possible to get as close to the 7,227 miles to Afghanistan as you can from now until the end of the year. We will do a weekly track to see how many miles you have gone on Saturday of each week. If you walk or run, simply record the number of miles you covered during that time.

For ALL OTHER EXERCISE (biking, swimming, aerobics, elliptical, rock climbing, dancing, sports, etc.): 10 minutes of vigorous exercise (work up a good sweat, have a hard time talking during the activity) OR 15 minutes of moderate exercise (you get your body moving, but you're relatively comfortable during the activity) equals 1 mile.

Swimming counts, floating in the pool working on your tan does NOT. Household chores and gardening do NOT count. Walking to and from your car does NOT count. Shopping does NOT count. You MUST be purposefully exercising in order to count those miles!

Mileage reports are due every Saturday, so don't forget to report in. I will send out the rankings after all mileage has been reported, so you can see how you're stacking up against each other.

The person to get closest to the miles will win a prize of congratulations.
