LadyIrish, both wonderful memories. Thanks for sharing!

I remember going to New York City with my Mom, my Grandmother, and my sister to shop and get ready for Christmas. We would always top of the trip with the Rockettes and Radio City Music Hall! Magical.

Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or whatever -- what memory is your fondest?

I have two.

When I was six my paternal grandmother made me a gorgeous royal blue wool coat. With the scraps she made a matching one for my doll. She even printed the note in the box because I couldn't read script yet. She went to Heaven the following summer and became my first guardian angel. Her name was Margaret. I named my daughter for her. A couple of years ago I had a dream that she was sitting beside me, wearing that coat.

The other involves my son when he was nine. He's wheelchair-bound and speech-impaired. Some friends of ours gave him a "glitter wand" (a lucite tube filled with mineral oil and glitter, stars, etc.). My ex unwrapped it, put it into his hand and said, "Look Frank, Tom and Stephanie gave you a magic wand."

Frank IMMEDIATELY got a smart-(donkey) grin, turned and touched me with it and said, "Frog!" (This is a kid who's missing 1/4 of his brain from the accident.) I told him that if he wanted breakfast he'd better change me back since frogs don't know how to cook -- unless, of course, he'd like FLIES for breakfast? He belted me with the wand hard enough to leave a mark and said, "MOM!!!" I still laugh thinking about that.

What's YOUR favorite?

"...there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it's worth fighting for."

"We're children of a fighting race that never yet has known disgrace." (The Soldiers' Song, Irish national anthem)

"Every day above ground is a good day." (Chef Justin Kennedy of New Orleans, on Chopped)
