I need to move my left eye more to the person I am talking to - hence looking weirdly!!! But we will take in as much as we can when we are together!!

looking weirdly??? isn't that the only way to look?
I have had optic neritis a few times and each time it does damage to my eyes, at one time they said I had Glaucoma with normal pressure, then they came back and said I didn't, that it was just from the optic neritis. but, I feel like I might go blind someday, I hope not, but, I agree you should see everything you can because we never really know what life has instore any of us!

Well I am very sad with myself! I have let go of my determination and eaten some Christmasy foods! Oh well!! I have gained a pound - so another rush to get rid of it by Xmas day!!!

However, The diet is now going to have to take a bit of a back seat..beacuse yesterday I was informed that I have degenerative Glaucoma - as far as I know only in my right eye - I have to wait until I get back from the States to kow the full extent of the damage - however, I already know that I have reduced field vision - my field test yesterday was the same pretty much as 3 months ago - maybe a little worse - but the evidence there and in my actual eye shows the damage to the optic nerve ...

So, sadly I am going blind - hence I needed to have a day to reflect on this and work out my strategy! I already try to take something in everyday to hold as a memory - so my trip to the States has a new meaning - I will be going with BOTH EYES OPEN! I intend to get as much as I can visually do - even if there are things I am scared off (heights etc!) If I don't do it now - there may not be another time. The speed at which I have lost part of my peripheral vision is very fast - less than 12 months ... So If I am looking weirdly - accept my apologies now, and understand that I am trying to get the best possible view!!

It's not going to kill me - and I still have another eye - so far as I know untouched - and I will deal with the varying issues as they come up - there is no point in crying over spilt milk - I prefer to see as much as I can in the possibly limited time I have sterio-vision.

I will not do this ever again - I am happy to take the fast as it is - a fast!!! Although from what I have eaten - look at the fibre!!!!! I think I will be spending most of the day on the Loo!!!! Oh well one way of losing weight!!! LOL LOL ROFL!!!!

Do you want to know what I have eaten???

This is SO SAD!!
100g Of All bran
1 cup of SKIMMED milk
100g of boiled prunes ( they are like naughties!)
I small yellow pepper
1 tomato
1 long stick of celery (well it felt long to me!)
1 satsuma (small orange like a mandarin)
2 slices of nimble wholemeal brown bread

Is that SAD or WHAT! I am so full now I think I may have to go and sit on the fllor next to the Big white telephone to him up there!!

I know I was meant to suffer - but Oh please remind me NEVER EVER to try to eat 1 days worth of food in 1 day.... The pain is incredible - and even if you came with my most favourite truffle I woulnd't be able to eat it - I think I might be sick now.....

So there you go - your pillar of strength has found a new way to put herself off food!!! Ugh!!!

I have just realised I have a Jewish FASTING day tomorrow so am shovelling food into my poor body as it has to last until 4:40pm in the evening!!! ARGH!!! This is the time to eat the naughties and be damned!!!

Come on Trish - this week is about making it count!! This week is getting rid of as much as possible BEFORE you blow it all over the Christmas period!! So you just get that water in, and look at some serious amounts of FIBRE intake and you may just lose enough that the naughties over Chrimbo won't effect you too much - I am volunteering to help out various groups over the Chrimbo Period - but NO ONE WANTS ME!!!!

Thank you Valerie!! I am really chuffed although some of it may well be muscle turning back in to fat as my cardio has been limited for the past week due to a knee injury - which I am having to be very careful of!! But am about to go and do some strength exercises and have already stretched my calf muscles but will need to do it all again!!!

I get more at dinner and then after, My glass holds more than 8 oz. it's like 16+ so really I guess I should double that amount so instead of 5 it's really 10-15 oz. I'll have to measure my glass again but, its like a 20 oz. glass. I am getting there don't worry about that part Tabs, now the thing about the goodies, well that is another topic....

well my gallon is done totally and I have had my dinner but I am seriously short on the cals - but as I can't actually exercise due to a damaged knee, I think I will just leave things as they are!!

What is probably the most essential thing is to PLAN AHEAD for the next day - I tend to do this as part of my bedtime saga - I add up what I have done cardio wise, what my cal intake, remove the cardio and my RMR from the cal intake and that tells me approx whether I am going to put on, stay the same or lose weight.. Then I sit and ponder on WHAT MEALS I AM GOING TO HAVE TOMORROW - I write them in my book and then put in my pedometer reading and that is it - I have planned my meals, and weighed myself!

Having got your meals planned I find I don't go "outside the plan" when I am eating - in fact I sometimes struggle to eat all I have put in - as you can have an awful lot of watercress before it reads 5g!!!! the same goes for a lot of veg and fruit!

Try to ensure you have fish at least 1x a week - ok I hear those of you who hate fish - it contains no carbs and is pure protien - sometimes with Omega 3 & 6 in it - which your body REALLY needs.

By planning ahead you will ensure that breakfast is a good hearty meal, and that will stop you wanting anything until lunch and hopefully from Lunch to Dinner the meals and the water will carry you through.

Crikey I feel as though I have written an essay!! Please Take note of it!!!!

How did you know that I was beginning to lose my spark? I think I gained 5 pounds last week? I am not happy with myself, I just can't get my butt in gear, yes I did curves and gain 3 pound while going and I think I gain another two yesterday. I am going to curves this morning and I will drink my water I HAVE TO GET BACK ON TRACK!!!!!!!!

OK Guys Come on - Lets make this WEEK REALLY COUNT! Lets put everything we have (NO VALERIE Not all those chocolates, fudge and fat free biscuits - you need calorie free ones hun!) Into this week make a big push - up the fibre as much as you can, get in your water try to get 16 glasses a day in - yea I know it sounds a lot but if I can do it then SO CAN YOU! Look at what you ARE EATING - and stop the snacks, the sweets, the fats etc.. go for a really healthy week and push your body a little to get it to work out and lose those pounds! I will have an advantage as I don't celebrate Xmas!! So I am setting a new target for me - to be less than 199lbs when I leave home for the USA... So I have 3 weeks to lose 9lbs in... So I am going to have to do some workouts!!

Valerie - I hope to give you some ideas about you, yourself and what you want to achieve and how to get there - I am your mobile motivator!!! hee heee!! I also hope NOT to gain much if any whilst I am out, after all everyone I am seeing is an SPer so trying to shift weight!!! So over those 5 weeks I should lose at least 5lbs! (I probably will in the 1st week when I see the plane landing, try to get used to the weird system in Brooklyn, and not to mention the weather!! I should think I would spend most of the time on the loo!!)

So Come on folks LETS MAKE THIS WEEK COUNT!

Plateuing is normal Mommac - I was there for a long time too! I kept going up and down over the same 5 lbs! It nearly drove me nuts! I reduced my cals a little and increased my fibre and water and have now gone the way I want to go!! We will start a New year to Easter Challenge! That could be the turning point!
Try not to get despondant as we all hit them... it's just learning to keep the food at the right levels etc..

Hi everyone I have not posted her in awhile. Looks like I am out of this challenge. I platued for almost a month and then gained 2lbs. Oh well maybe next cahallenge will do better. Glad to hear there are a few that made it though. Congrats to you guys.

I've moved on to other things. pb cookies surgar free of course, and at the party last night they had fudge so of course I had to have some (2 different kinds) December is not a good month for me to diet in. so maybe next challenge I will do better. sorry not good with controlling my self.

Hi Njokat - I know the feeling - I have had to work hard this week to keep from falling into the deep hole!! my daughter came home from University to spent the last days of Channukah with me so I had her for 5 days - 4 nights - my food regieme went out the window as did my exercise as I discovered to my shame I don't like doing it when someone is in the house! (Well who wants to see my backside bouncing up and down on the trampet!?? UGH!) thankfully she was doing some Uni work whilst I was jogginq! I am still trying to catch up on sleep - but then she went back on Friday evening and it hit me how much I miss her and her brother at home - and I have had a bit of a depression spiral as well..The hardest part for me - which is REALLY STUPID is that the next time I see her she will have turned 20 and no longer be a teenager.... I will be in the USA on her birthday - well getting ready to come back to the UK.

On the plus side - I have now managed to get within a pound of target for the 10lbs challenge with a week to go!! I amazingly have lost another 2 lbs - (well just under) and am at a new low of 207.4, and am now on the last 50% of my loss!!! YAY!!! So the challenge is still alive - SouthernC had won it, but who will be next?

How's the Xmas goal coming everyone?

I had a terrible, no-good, very bad week. Ok, it wasn't really that bad, could've been lots worse. But I was definitely off my eating plan for a couple of days and am up 2 pounds for the week. I expect that 2 pounds will come right off in the next couple of days, and we still have a little over a week to go.

I've been depressed this week over Friday being my last day of work. The upside though is I'll have more time to workout at the gym next week.

I've been kinda staying still but one does not want to stay still on the track for long they may get ran over . I have changed things up this week as per some info from all of you. I'll see what happens when Wednesday comes. Way to Go People Keep Up the Great Work.

I started the challenge at 362.4. This morning I weighed in and the scale read 352.2! (And then I weighed in again to make sure it was right *G*)

I made it to 10 lbs!!

Now on to my next goal, which is to be below 350 before the end of the year.

I have been all over the place the past 3 days in my eating - today is the 1st day being "normal" again! Moving ones son and Dil2b to a very much smaller abode is hard work!! Not only has my digestion come under attack but so have several muscles!!!

Well, I thought last week was too good to be true. I had a rather sudden 2 pound loss which just suddenly jumped back on. So, if I don't count that, I'm down 1 pound for the week and have lost 5 of the 10 pounds for this challenge. So, I'm still within striking range of hitting the goal. I've slacked off on exercise since I'm working more, but have been very consistent on my eating plan, so I think I'll be fine.

It is so inspiring to log in today and see everyone's progress. Way to go team!

You are ALL doing AMAZINGLY WELL!!! I AM SO PROUD OF YOU ALL!! When I stuck this thread up I wondered if I was asking too much in 5 weeks for folks - but you all seem to be so committed I am glad I did it!! It has certainly given me a massive boost and it is all down to helping others to help themselves!

Congrats and good job everyone who is showing a loss! And, Pat, hang in there...it will start to drop again. Like Tabs always says, drink your water and eat your fiber and it will happen!!

I dropped to 209 this morning - not sure if I will stay there as it was a big and sudden drop due to stress - so I will probably regain!!! ARGH! But.. if I stay there - hey I am 3 lbs off target!!!

Well done everyone - welcome to the challenge new entries - although I would point out that we are on week 2 now - so 5lbs would be a massive drop for you joining now - I don't want anyone to do anything silly like stop eating just to lose weight - that just sends your body into a complete shutdown - so incerase the fibre and water and then it should drop naturally!

Pat - I have been where you are now! It took a lot of really looking at what I ate, and how much of it - I was really calorie counting to the nearest 5g! Now I a little less strict - execept tonight I really ate FAR too much!! and what is worse is I bought Enlgish Muffins to have over the next few days and I really fancy one now - each muffin is 135cals, 8.4g Protien (good) 22g Carb (bad!)7.8g Sugar (even worse!)1.3g fat - (ok)Sat.3,mono.2 poly.5g repectfully Fibre 3.8 g(GREAT!)
oh well I think I had better put them back and have one tomorrow

Thanks for the support. I already drink any where from 10 -15 glasses of water a day (I do not drink anything else except 1 cup of tea in the morning.)
I find the exercise a little harder to increase, but I have been shopping the malls alot more lately so getting more walking there.Maybe I will try to get a little more calestetics in durning the day.

I think I have just eaten about 8lbs worth of food - thankfully it is still before 6pm so I won;t be feeling this full by bed time!!! ARGH!! why DO SP Insist on PORTIONS? I HATE IT I WANT TO KNOW WHAT A PORTION IS!!! Any way - I thought I may as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb and ate what I "guessed " was a portion - but I feel it was really 2!!! Ugh can't move!

Mommac, I wouldn't worry too much. Just increase your water and your activity as much as you can comfortably and ride it out. I remember the first time I lost weight (don't even get me started on regaining 90+ lbs -- though come to think of it we probably should have a thread to discuss stuff like that...) anyway, the first time I lost weight I remember when I was getting close to 250 lbs (which would have been about 70 lbs down) my body just STOPPED losing. I was working out 5 time a week, eating healthy and the scale would not budge for over a month. Sooo frustrating. But I just kept doing what I was doing. Then one day, as quick as the plateau hit, it went away and I started losing again. Just ride it out. :)

Southern O - you're doing great. Congrats on your loss!!

As for me and my baby - still not sure if he's human or elephant. Yes, he was big, and is about the biggest for his age in both height and weight. I was probably pre-diabetic at that point, although it never showed on any of the millions of tests I had. I'm just lucky we're both still alive. Part of the reason I really want to get this weight off is that I'm trying to teach my son (now 10 years old) some healthy habits. I hate being a hypocrite by telling him to eat right and exercise when I'm clearly not.

Excuse me but that was one LARGE BABY!!! (Are you sure it was human - not elephant??) I thought mine was bad at 8lbs 3oz for the 1st - he was very long 25" in length! My problem was I LOVED looking and being pregnant so I shot up in weight with him!! I was into Maternity things as fast as I could get - Princess Diana having made Prengancy fashionable!!! Oh dear!! with my daughter I didn't show until I was 7 months! and was still wearing my ordinary clothes - I had lost a lot of weight with sickness with her!! and then she kept lying on her cord so I was in and out of hospital with her not moving etc ... She was due end of January - well form the 21st Jan should I say............arrived? 12th February - by then she had lost weight in utero and came out all red and her skin was peeling - it was sad really! she was 7lbs 2oz and 19" long - she was a real "baby" if you know what I mean! Chris had been so big at birth he was straight into 3months grow bags... Sarah was into the 0-3months!! Ahhh such days!!

Chris is now engaged, and he and Becky are about to take possesion of their 1st mortgaged home! (he is 23) and Sarah (20 in Feb) is at University reading human Genetics.... All grown up!!!

But I still have the baby fat!!! I wonder if it will go this time!! lol

Thanks Tabs - yes, do keep those old trousers to compare. I'm still in the same clothing, but it is definitely fitting better. I would probably be in a smaller size, but I've had some stomach problems, and the weight is coming off more slowly there. I lost 1 inch in my stomach and 3 in my hips last month, and 1/2 inch around my neck.

I'm back up 2 pounds this morning which I now is due to extra salt intake yesterday. But, it will come back off soon enough - I knew it was coming off a little too quickly.

As for my stomach, not only did I have a 11 pound 5.5 oz baby, but I also had two hernias. The second hernia surgery was about nine months after my baby was born and they put a mesh patch in to hold everything. So, that area is still pretty much sitting there while I lose the fat around it. It looks pretty weird. The ironic part is that I look more pregnant as I lose weight because it makes the belly fat more obvious. Oh well, my husband says I can always have surgery after I've lost most of the weight. In the meantime, my pants fit better around the waist, but they are dragging around my butt!

I actually noticed my chin about yesterday. I've lost a bit around the chin so it was more obviously a chin and not just part of the neck fat.

Oh, the great adventures we all have with these wonderful bodies of ours!

WOW well done NJOYKAT!! My Docs scales weigh me lighter! So perhaps I had better nip over there tomorrow and get a new reading!!! lol I don't think it matters what the scales actually say - so long as you are consistenly using them!

The best thing that tells you that the weight is going is that clothes are so much more comfortable! I am thinking about bringing over my old trousers to show what size I was to what I am now! They are hideous! As the English mrket for big jeans and big trousers hasn't really taken off fully so I was in stretchy ones - and my tummy bulged out further than my boobs.... now My tummy is heading inwards (It won't ever be ironing board flat sadly!) but thisis the first time when I have lost weight that my boobs haven't shrunk massive amounts - EEEEEEK I don't want to be slim with huge boobies!!!!

Well, I'm about half way there. I started at 276 and was 270 this morning.

Since my doctor visit I learned my scales are weighing me about 7 pounds too light. So, I added five pounds to all my weights. I figure that will be close enough. Even though my scale is not apparently very accurate, it is pretty consistent, so I don't really want to go buy another one.

**The only way out is through.**

well my scale is fighting over 245 or 246. so I am staying 245.5 so I am down.5 and have 9.5 to go!

Way to go Tabs!! Now I am going to gloat as well...did my official Friday weigh-in, and I have lost not only the 4 pounds I had gained over the holiday nightmare, but 1 more on top of that!! So, it's week 1 and I am already half way there. I know the next five won't be as easy, but with 3 weeks to do it, I think I can make it!!

Great Job Everyone.
Thanks For the suggestion of the tape measure. I haven't done that in a while. I will do that this weekend when i get a chance. They say Slow & Steady win's the race. I just hope the race isn't over before I get in gear hehe.

All is not lost if you slip and fall ...As long as you get back up ,brush yourself off and get back at it. One should always learn from there mistakes.

ok this is REALY BAD of me - but I am going to GLOAT!!! at the end of week 1 of loose 10lbs before Xmas .... I have lost ......

3.2lbs!!!! YAHHH way to go me!! If I do that I will almost lose the 10 - I did actually start at 216.6 - so in fact I have lost more in reality (3.8lbs) but as I hadn't moved my ticker back I felt obliged to go from 216!!! Anyhow I am finally out of the rut!!!

Beetee - that's an embarassing thing! I have to admit I hate BMW - purely because I cann't get in one without banging my head - this happens with a lot of cars - we are not gnome car manufacturers!! Some of us gals are darn tall!!!! I feel I have to fold up into a small letter Z to get into some of these cars!!!!

Comeon rest of team - post your loss for wk 1 lets see who is on target for the 10lbs!!!
