Start of the Month Blog – On Monday, everyone needs to post a Montly Goals Blog. Set some simple, achievable goals for yourself for the month of October. Post these goals on your blog and put them out there for everyone to see. Help hold yourself accountable by doing this and you will be given 100 points.

T – Take a Moment
For each day that you post on your veggie team’s chat thread, you will earn 10 points.

R – Really Push
For each day that you complete strength training, you will earn 50 points. In order for your strength training to count, you must complete at least 2 sets of 15 or more reps of 5 or more different exercises. Your Strength Training exercises must be posted on your SP Fitness Tracker in order to be counted for this challenge.

I – Intake is Key
On your SP Food Tracker, you will need to track every bite, every sip – no exceptions. If you do this successfully, you will earn 10 points per day. For those days that you stay within your designated SP Calorie Range, you will earn 50 points.

C – Can You Do It?
Each day that you get in at least 64 oz of water (no flavoring allowed except a splash of citrus juice) you will earn 25 points.

K – Kick It Up
For every 50 calories you burn, you will earn 25 points.

As always, everyone is required to post a Weekly Update Blog on Friday or Saturday. We’re changing up the requirements for this blog for the month. Your Weekly Update Blog must include a recap of your week. List the goals you set in your Start of the Month Blog on Monday and tell us how you’re coming in achieving them. The WUB is still a requirement of this challenge – you will earn 100 points for posting or lose 100 points for not posting. Failure to post a WUB any 2 times during the month will result in immediate disqualification and you will be eliminated for the remainder of the month.

Welcome to Outstanding October! Since this is the month that we celebrate Halloween, and the beginning of the holiday seasons yet to come, we’re going to kick things into full swing from Week 1. We are once again changing things up a little this month so be sure that every week you read through the challenge in full. It may seem that the requirements are the same from week to week, but there is usually some small change that you’ll miss if you don’t read over it completely. Also, everyone needs to make sure that you’re food and fitness trackers are visible on your SparkPage. And if you have your page set to private, you will need to add me as a friend, as well as your team captain.

Week 1 will run from Monday, October 3rd, through Saturday, October 8th. Be careful not to get TRICKed this week into thinking things will be easy. Here is your challenge for Week 1:

Start of the Month Blog – On Monday, everyone needs to post a Montly Goals Blog. Set some simple, achievable goals for yourself for the month of October. Post these goals on your blog and put them out there for everyone to see. Help hold yourself accountable by doing this and you will be given 100 points. Failure to post this blog will result in a 50 point deduction.

T – Take a Moment
One of the biggest reasons for doing the team challenges is to help motivate others and get motivation for ourselves at the same time. This week we will be bringing back a part of our challenges that we haven’t done in many weeks. For each day that you post on your veggie team’s chat thread, you will earn 10 points. We’ve actually had people quit our monthly challenges over the last month because when trying to get their chat thread active, they are getting feedback that people just don’t have time. Those of you who make the time will be rewarded this week!

R – Really Push
If you want a simple way to get your metabolism going, you need to do strength training. For each day that you complete strength training, you will earn 50 points. In order for your strength training to count, you must complete at least 2 sets of 15 or more reps of 5 or more different exercises. Your Strength Training exercises must be posted on your SP Fitness Tracker in order to be counted for this challenge.

I – Intake is Key
We may be burning calories galore, but if we aren’t watching our food intake, we will not be successful in our weightloss goals. The most effective way to do this is to track what you eat and drink. On your SP Food Tracker, you will need to track every bite, every sip – no exceptions. If you do this successfully, you will earn 10 points per day. For those days that you stay within your designated SP Calorie Range, you will earn 50 points.

C – Can You Do It?
Every week that I include water in our challenge, I come across excuse after excuse as to why you can’t get in 64 oz everyday. It’s time to throw out those excuses and just do it. One of the best tips I’ve found to get in my water everyday is to not drink anything else until I’ve achieved my goal. From time to time I will still have one cup of coffee in the morning (especially now that the weather is starting to cool down), but other than that, I don’t allow myself anything else until the water goal is met. You’ll find that as you go, it will get easier. Each day that you get in at least 64 oz of water (no flavoring allowed except a splash of citrus juice) you will earn 25 points.

K – Kick It Up
Cardio gets our heart rates elevated and helps us burn calories. Rather than focusing on how many minutes we’re spending working out, we’re going to focus on the calories we’re burning. For every 50 calories you burn, you will earn 25 points. This will only include exercise that is intentional. You may not count activities such as playing with your kids or everyday housework, nor may you include exercise you get as part of your job for those who are on their feet all week. Also, please remember that yoga and pilates should not be counted for this challenge. The moves you do with those may, however, be counted in with your strength training. Your Cardio minutes must be posted on your SP Fitness Tracker in order to be counted.

As always, everyone is required to post a Weekly Update Blog on Friday or Saturday. We’re changing up the requirements for this blog for the month. Your Weekly Update Blog must include a recap of your week. List the goals you set in your Start of the Month Blog on Monday and tell us how you’re coming in achieving them. The WUB is still a requirement of this challenge – you will earn 100 points for posting or lose 100 points for not posting. Failure to post a WUB any 2 times during the month will result in immediate disqualification and you will be eliminated for the remainder of the month.

There will be a blank tracker on the first post of this week’s challenge thread. Please use that tracker to input your information for the week – do not add to it or change it around. It is set up to match the spreadsheet that points are entered in to. Please post only one reply on the thread and use the edit button at the bottom of your post to update as you need to. I would highly recommend that you not update any given day until you are planning to post all of your points for that day. If you only post some of what you earn that day, I may not realize you have added to it if I have already updated the points spreadsheet. Also, all points must be posted by the end of the day on Monday in order to be counted. Failure to post points for the week will result in disqualification for the rest of the month – your lack of points will still count against your team for that week. If you are no longer able to participate in the challenge, please let me know so you can be properly withdrawn and not penalize your team.
