For Week 3 of our July Challenge, we are going to FOCUS on a few specific areas.

F – Family
One of the reasons many of us are trying to lose weight and get healthy is so that we can be here for our families. For spending at least 30 minutes of uninterrupted time with your family each day, you will earn 25 points.

O – Outlook
What is it that you want out of your weightloss journey? Think about it and each day that you list one thing you hope to achieve, you will earn 25 points.

C – Cardio
Earn 1 point for each minute of cardio you complete this week.

U – Uplift
Allowing others to know about your journey can be more motivating and inspirational than most people realize. Uplift others by posting a blog about your day and how it went. You will earn 25 points each day. Don’t forget that you should be posting a Weekly Update Blog on either Friday or Saturday. This blog will earn you 100 points for that day. Failure to post a Weekly Update Blog will cost you 100 points.

S – Strength
Many of us struggle to do strength training on a regular basis. This week we will make it a separate part of the challenge from our cardio. You will earn 25 points for each day that you complete strength training. In order for it to count, you should complete 2 sets of 12-15 reps each of at least 5 different strength training exercises.

Please post only one reply to the challenge thread and edit your post as needed to update your points. All points must be posted no later than the end of the day on Monday, July 25th. Good luck, MOMMYs!!!

Family: Big pre-bed snuggle, with both girls on my lap. We had such a great snuggle, we fell asleep together. 25
Outlook: My mummy tummy. I've lost all the baby weight, but certain parts of me aren't where they started. Mostly, my tummy, which is still flabby-ish. The rest of me has tone, and looks pretty good. I admit, I hate ab work so the flabby middle shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. I think I will use this week's challenge (strength) to focus a bit more on my core. 25

Family: EARLY morning wake up for snuggles and a rock. I think we hit breakfast about 6-ish so about an hour - 50
Outlook: I keep going on about being a good role model for my girls. One thing i don't do, is really get a lot of exercise with them. I go to the gym while they stay with daddy, or the sitter.... not really setting the best example am I? They should see mommy having fun being active not just coming home sweaty from a gym session. I would like to do more to involve the girls in my activity.... I just need to figure out how. 25

Family: I spent 9 hours at the carnival grounds with my boys again - it was the last day, they wanted to ride every ride they could as many times as they could! - 25 Points

Outlook: One thing I look to gain out of my weight loss journey is a better sense of who I am. I am not my weight, I am not my clothes, I am not my hair style - but as I find who I am by finding who I am not, I feel better about myself which allows me to make choices easier to take better care of myself. - 25 Points

Cardio: Out of the 9 hours we were at the carnival yesterday, I (we) walked around for 5. We took lots of breaks for water and shade as it was so hot yesterday. The humidity made it so difficult to stay outside for long. - 300 Points

Uplift: Yesterday was a difficult day with the heat index being so high. But, the boys were having so much fun playing and enjoying their time it was hard not to enjoy myself. I even ventured outside my comfort zone and went on a few rides I normally would not have because I get motion sick fairly easily. But, to see the boys laughing and giggling and having a good time, in the long run it was worth it! - 25 Points

Monday –

Family: We spent about 2 hours at the grocery store last night - picking out favorite fruits, and choosing dinner for at least 2 nights this week (3 if you count last night's home made hamburgers). It was fun letting the boys voice their ideas and having them help pick things out. - 25 Points

Outlook: Something else I would like to discover along my weight loss journey is a re-kindling of old favorite things to do - going for a bike ride and not getting winded, playing ball in the back yard at my parents with my boys and not feel sluggish, jumping rope and being able to actually jump again, and ultimately - maybe just maybe learn to dance again. I would love to re-take tap dancing because it was fun and a great way to exercise. - 25 Points

Cardio: I would count walking around the grocery store last night, but, I'm not gonna... so, none for me... not feeling good anyway... - 0 Points

Uplift: Monday wasn't too good of a day. I think I over-did things all weekend, but especially with the heat Saturday & Sunday I'm just not feeling good. I slept almost all day just to let my body rest. It's not easy taking a break when I've been doing so well, but, I'd rather take a 2 day break than really make myself sicker in the long run. - 25 Points

Strength: Well, I could count carrying all the groceries in the house, but, again, I'm not going to... I'll get back into things soon... - 0 Points

Family: Everyone has been playing computer games today - helping each other figure out where hidden objects were, or what the answer to the puzzles were... with the heat warnings in effect all week here in Chi-Town, we're looking for ways to connect in-doors. - 25 Points

Outlook: I want my body to be healthier and stronger so that days when I feel like this (crappy), I know I'll heal faster and bounce back faster than if I'm not in shape or as healthy as I know I can be. I want to be able to be back on my feet and taking care of things rather than feeling like I'm stuck in bed because I have no energy (like I feel right now). I know my body can take care of itself very well if given the right fuel to run. I'm getting there, one day at a time. - 25 Points

Cardio: Did some gentle yoga stretches after all and it did help some... 30 minutes total and I'm glad I did it - 30 Points

Uplift: I'm feeling a little better than I did yesterday, but still pretty exhausted. I think today I'm going to take it easy again to let my body rest. I've got a few books I need to read anyway emoticon - 25 Points

Family: Had some time to myself this afternoon when my father-in-law picked up the hubby and boys. When my mom got off of work, she picked me up and we headed to the Goodwill store to do a little shopping. I picked up some nice clothes to wear when I get the call on Monday that tells me I'm hired. Uplift: I am feeling better than I have all week!! I finally feel rested and energized and ready to try a work out again. Hooray!! I pampered myself with a little time in the bathroom with some Nair on my legs to make them nice and smooth for me to wear shorts out in this heat! Life is good today!! Oh, and I did finally reach the woman I'd interviewed with a few weeks back - she is finishing her final interviews tomorrow and said she will call me on Monday so here's hoping!! - 25 Points

Friday –

Family: We spent the night at my in-laws last night, the boys fell asleep and I got so tired and hubby was playing PS3 games with his brother that I gave up, changed into my yoga pants and fell asleep myself. My youngest curled up on the couch with me at some point early morning and I was just awake enough to realize - 'Hey! He's got room to lay next to me and I'm not squishing him!!" before I dozed back off myself. Thanks for that confidence boost baby!! - 25 Points

Outlook: I am stronger now than when I started this boot camp 3 weeks ago. I will be stronger still in another 3 weeks... Taking things one week at a time has helped me take steps, not feel overwhelmed that I have to do everything all at once. It's helping make small changes in my house - from the amount of fresh fruit we buy to the way we choose to make more and more things at home to make it healthier. I want to see these changes keep going for the better, one by one. One day I'll look up and realize that we're all making healthier choices and it's now the norm. And on that day, I'll smile the biggest smile I have in a long time. - 25 Points

Cardio: I've done about 45minutes of yoga today in little 5 to 10 minute segments - little stretches here, a few flowing poses there - when I can for how long I can. - 45 Points

Uplift: Each day I'm realizing things about me that are improving, it gives me more and more confidence that I can keep going in the right direction. I'm sitting here wearing new-to-me pants from Fashion Bug that are size 18/20!! I've never shopped at Fashion Bug, but I don't think they are specifically geared toward BBW (Big Beautiful Women) so to fit in their 18/20 makes me feel great!! I'm still hovering between sizes in my blue jeans - the 22s are big even with a belt and the 20 are still just a smidge too snug to be comfortable. But I'm getting there! Inch by inch I am improving my body, my mind and my life! I haven't worn a size 18 since maybe 2 years after I graduated high school (which was in '96). This is giving me so much hope that I *can* do this! That I *can* become a good role model for my husband, my kids, my friends (and one of my friends has been such a role model and inspiration for me!! Love You Manda-Moo!!). And it's wonderful to have SparkPeople to turn to for inspiration, and great teams like Mommy to Wowwy Boot Camp where they are in the same boat I am and get it. Or teams like One Minute Yoga that challenge me to learn something new and strive to improve it one minute at a time - because come on, who can't find one minute in a day, really?? And I'm realizing that as I write this, it's sort of turning into my end-of-the-week update blog which is cool with me :-) - 100 Points

Strength: Went through all the Strength Training Exercises from my Fitness Page (9 total) and took my time doing them - took me 45 minutes to work my way through - I did one full set of reps first then started over and did the second set of reps. My arms are sore and tired but I feel good!! - 45 Points

NOTE - I HAVE DEDUCTED 100 POINTS FROM MY TOTAL AS I DID NOT POST THE WEEKLY UPDATE BLOG IN TIME.

F - 30 uninterrupted minutes with family for 25 points.

F - 25 - Spent 40-45 minutes eating cheese and crackers with my partner, as he had to work through dinner.

C - 110 - Spent time dancing, did a lengthy WUWO, and took 2 20 minute brisk walks to and from the shops, not counting the leisurely shopping time in between.

F - 25 - Had dinner together, watched an episode of House MD, and plan to play a game of warhammer 40k later...we're such geeks!
O - 25 - Got it in the blog. As a part of achieving the WUWO goal, I want to shift my sleep pattern 1 hour earlier so I'm going to bed before 10:30 and up at 7am.
C - 130 - Work (carrying 35kilo's of books at a brisk walk) for 60 minutes plus work part 2 (running up and down stairs with said 35 kilo's of books) for 45 minutes plus the cardio parts of the WUWO, about 25 minutes.
U - 25 - Blogged twice today.
S - 25 - Did 2 x 12 squats, ledge press-ups, triceps dips, buttocks bridges, spine strengtheners, hamstring curls, stomach crunches, prone scissors and waist twists as part of the WUWO.

Tuesday - 145
F - 25 - Played Warhammer and watched House with Mr. Master.
O - 25 - Size 12 jeans in the january sales, and FIT THEM the day I buy them!

C - 0 - Bad ankle and ill. It's actually at a stage where standing up elevates my heartrate to "hard workout" level so I guess anything I do is squiffed.

S - 0 - Bad ankle and ill. I can just about manage sit ups and similar abs and upper-body only type exercise with the ankle, but right now the fever, aches and everything else forbid me from it.

Friday - 75
F - 25 - Spent a whole 2 1/2 hours watching House with Mr. Master and almost as long playing with Tiny and his bio-father in the nearest town centre.
O - 25 - Yes! I want to play football for an hour with my little boy! A bigger thing than it might at first appear, lol!
C - 0 - Bad ankle and ill, but feeling better. I might even try a workout tomorrow, of some sort!

S - 0 - Bad ankle and ill, but feeling better.

Many of us struggle to do strength training on a regular basis. This week we will make it a separate part of the challenge from our cardio. You will earn 25 points for each day that you complete strength training. In order for it to count, you should complete 2 sets of 12-15 reps each of at least 5 different strength training exercises.

For Week 3 of our July Challenge, we are going to FOCUS on a few specific areas.

F – Family
One of the reasons many of us are trying to lose weight and get healthy is so that we can be here for our families. For spending at least 30 minutes of uninterrupted time with your family each day, you will earn 25 points.

O – Outlook

For Week 3 of our July Challenge, we are going to FOCUS on a few specific areas.

F – Family
One of the reasons many of us are trying to lose weight and get healthy is so that we can be here for our families. For spending at least 30 minutes of uninterrupted time with your family each day, you will earn 25 points.

O – Outlook
What is it that you want out of your weightloss journey? Think about it and each day that you list one thing you hope to achieve, you will earn 25 points.

C – Cardio
Earn 1 point for each minute of cardio you complete this week.

U – Uplift
Allowing others to know about your journey can be more motivating and inspirational than most people realize. Uplift others by posting a blog about your day and how it went. You will earn 25 points each day. Don’t forget that you should be posting a Weekly Update Blog on either Friday or Saturday. This blog will earn you 100 points for that day. Failure to post a Weekly Update Blog will cost you 100 points.

S – Strength
Many of us struggle to do strength training on a regular basis. This week we will make it a separate part of the challenge from our cardio. You will earn 25 points for each day that you complete strength training. In order for it to count, you should complete 2 sets of 12-15 reps each of at least 5 different strength training exercises.

Please post only one reply to the challenge thread and edit your post as needed to update your points. All points must be posted no later than the end of the day on Monday, July 25th. Good luck, MOMMYs!!!
