Hi Ladies. I hope you are all hanging in there. What's happening with everyone?

We are anxious and scared about this oil spill. We are preparing for the oil to start washing ashore in the next day or so. Where we live is a huge tourist area so most people make their living off of the tourists. It is such a scary time and I feel so helpless. Please send good vibes!

Hi Ladies! How is your Monday so far? I had a rough weekend with calories so I ran 5 miles this morning to try & minimize the damage. The good news is that my scale is broken so I don't have to weigh in :) I am in no hurry to but a new one!

I hope you all have a great week!

It's a challenge!

The last time my husband "challenged" me I ran my first half-marathon. So this weekend when I told my husband I really did want to lose these 16 lbs that have been eluding me, he said "I bet I can lose 16 lbs before you can." Needless to say, I think this is JUST the challenge I needed to get me back on the right track!

From 166 to 150 goaling for 4 months... just 1 lb a week. I CAN DO IT!!!

Got a great start today with a 3 mile run and a completely planned out meal plan including the tenants I've learned about what percentage of each type of food to eat, and when from "The Running Diet". Muaha haha ha!

An audit? Bummer! We did take lots of pics, however when my husband went to pay for the cab he took the camera out of his pocket. He must have set it in the seat or on top of the cab. I was so sad! It's really not the camera as much as the memory card with all our pics. That was the only bad thing that happened in an otherwise awesome trip. We got to see Van Morrison along with Irma Thomas & some other great local bands.

On another note, I'll be 35 in a week. YIKES! For me that's a big number so I've decided to commit to a full marathon to show that I can do it. Do you all think I'm nuts?

Army~ I hope this is week is smooth for you and all you have to go through.

Dancing~ Congrats on your half! It is such a great feeling isn't it? I enjoyed reading your blog.

My honey & I just returned from New Orleans. We went to the Jazz Fest again this year. We were only able to go for a couple of days but it was so worth it! We had a blast. I'm off for a run now since I haven't worked out in 5 days! Yikes!

Hey Ladies-

I've had a pretty good week... still stressful, but I've gotten in 2 good runs and got 40 mins on the elliptical today :). The weekends look to be my rough times w/ my sweet husband coming home, always the temptation for dinner dates out and wine ;). I guess I just need to work that much harder during the week!

I leave for Arlington on Tuesday and the actual funeral is on Thursday. Wish me luck!! No chance to cook in the hotel... and I STINK at picking low-cal meals when I'm out. But I think there's a fitness center on site.

How's everyone's week??

Army- I'm really sorry to hear of the loss of a soldier. I will pray for his family as well as strength for you all.

I am still keeping up with my long runs. I'm doing one per week with 4 to 5 days of running on the other days. My next half is in Oct so I don't start another training plan for another month or so. I'm pretty much just repeating my old one. I am rising earlier in the day to get them in so that I can avoid the heat. This has not been easy but I am doing it. Then I return home and get the kids up for school. It does make the mornings easier with them but I am more tired in the evenings especially as I work nights. Oh well, at least I am able to do this!

PPL: Way to go on the race! :D

Dancing: I can't believe it's here (the race that is) already!!! You'll do great! What can we help you with?? (you said you were struggling) Can't wait to hear about the mini!

MJ: Have you kept up with your long runs or are you going to wait to train until you get closer to your race?

Guys, it was a bad week for me. One of our leadership lost their son in Iraq and I was assigned as the Casualty Assistance Officer for the Soldier's wife.

http://news.soc.mil/releases/News%20Arch
ive/2010/April/100421-01.html

The poor kid was only 23 and his wife is only 21 and they have a 16 month old daughter. It's my job to make sure she is taken care of and that she receives all of the entitlements from the Army. All this started on Monday the DAY after my husband left for his 5 month school. :( Undoubtedly I ate terribly and only got 2 runs in all week, but more than anything it has been a physically and Emotionally draining experience. The funeral is on 6 May in Arlington.

Hey there!

I am not getting the e-mails that say there is a new post in this thread. I don't know why?! So sorry it's taking me so long to get back in here. GRRRR...whats up with that?!

Army- You'll have to let me know what you think of that book. I was going to pick it up too. And we live up in Montana. The weather is better this week. Now its rain. I hope that it stops before the weekend. I hate to run in the rain.

MJ- Whats your goal again??

Army- I hope that things around your house are good. I know it must be difficult to do it all by yourself. Stay strong!

PPL- I hope that the weather has improved for you! My next half is Oct. 2. Can't wait!

Not much to report this week. I really am trying not to weigh myself until the beginning of May. I'll be 35 on the 14th and would really like to be at goal by then. So I've been a running fool and am focusing on calories again since we returned from vacation. Hopefully I'll be able to do it. Check in soon everyone!

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend! My hubby left today for his school.. so we're all a little bummed around the house today-- but we'll be alright. The vaca was nice :D

PPL: SNOW?!? where are you again? It's been in the 70s here for awhile now!

MJ: I'm excited to hear that you signed up for another race! I think that will certainly help to keep you motivated!

I signed up for the Army 10 miler, but it's not until October (I think I wrote Sept. but it's actually Oct) , so I think I might try to find at least a 10k between now and then! I picked up the Runners World book the Runners Diet, so I'll let y'all know how it is. Haven't had a chance to start reading it yet... kinda busy.

Take care!

Army- Thanks I am going to check those out. How was your vaca?

MJ- That is a long spring break. Sounds like you had a good time though. A night run sounds fun. And the 1/2 sounds fun too. When are they??

I am feeling a little down today. I think it's the weather. It's snowing. I thought it was spring.....grrrrr....seems like we are stuck in winter and I am really getting tired of it. I have a 5k on the 24th this month and I am going to hate it if it doesn't warm up. AHHHHHH.....sorry and had to let that out! :) I feel better now.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Hi Buddies! Sorry I've been MIA lately. Im back now that the kids are back in school after a long spring break of 11 days! We took a trip to New Orleans and had a great time! I ate terribly and hardly worked out at all. Im back on track now though. Im heading out now to run 6 miles. Ive also committed to another half marathon on Oct. 2. Its in Orlando at Epcot. Its the Disney Wine & Dine. A night run too. Im super excited! A friend of mine is running it too & its her first so that will make it even more fun.

Army~ I hope you enjoyed your vacation! Enjoy your time with your family. The ten miler sounds fun. I love races that are so popular like that. It makes it even more exciting!

PPL~ Make sure you have GOOD running shoes. Even if you have to spend a little more on them its worth it. I don't wear inserts though so Im not sure how they are.

Dancing~ How was Vegas? I cant wait to hear all about it!

I hope everyone is on track and having a good week!

Hey Everyone! It's been awhile. I haven't kept up with anything since mid-March. I did so great from March 1-15th-ish. I was logging my food, I was doing an extra 30 day shred in the afternoon... then it all came to a screeching halt. I don't even know what it was!

Anyway, we're on vacation this week and I haven't done a darn thing but run after the kiddos on the beach, but I guess I'm okay with that. My sweet husband leaves for an Army school which lasts 5 months in 2 weeks so we've been trying to enjoy family time.

I signed up for the Army 10 miler today!! So I'm pumped about that!! It just opened today and it's already almost sold out. Crazy! The race is the last weekend in SEPT so I have plenty of time to prep.

PPL: Have you tried some orthodics? I think Dr. Scholls makes some off the shelf. I get my from the brace shop at my Dr. office. (I had a bone break in my foot when I was in HS and they had to put a metal anchor in to hold my ligaments and tendons together to hold up the arch in my foot...and no I don't beep at the airport ;))

Blaize: Have a wonderful time in Vegas! I love Vegas! Are you going to see any shows?

Happy Easter Everyone!!

No fever. Her dr can't figure it out so we are doing more tests and she is going to go to an allergist and dermatologist. SIGH! Haha.

DO you feel different since doing P90x?

MJ: Awesome Job!!! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I think the next one might be even better since you won't have so much anxiety about the unknown!

Dancing: You're almost into the 160s!! You are so awesome! I read your blog about your race and literally laughed out loud. I know I wouldn't have been laughing if I was the one running, but I'm glad you came though with a great spirit!

MJ: I'm so glad your group finally started back up! I know you were really enjoying it :D Good luck!

I was sick again this week! Can you believe it?? Then Cameron got sick today w/ a 102 degree fever! Goodness Gracious! I did get a 4 mile run in this morning, and a 4.5 mile run on Tuesday... so that's the longest runs I've had in a L O N G time! Hopefully I can keep it up. On top of that I did the Shred on Sat, Sun, Mon & Tues... then got sick on Wed. I'll probably start it up again tomorrow since I'll have to stay home with the little one again.

P.S. We've had 3 Soldiers from my unit die since they left in Mid February. So sad, so hectic. I pray that we don't have another the rest of the deployment!

Dancing- Your hike sounds like so much fun!

I did my first post half run today. Felt really good! I'm looking for another half to do somewhere locally probably in the fall. i hope you are all having a good day. It is a beautiful 70 degrees here in sunny Florida! Sorry to rub it in emoticon

I want spring! hahaha. Wooohooo on restarting p90x!! So you're a vegetarian?! That's sooooo awesome. It's amazing the amount of people that are without even realizing it.

I've been struggling this week with getting up and hitting the gym. I'm soooo sleepy!

Well ladies, I DID IT!!! I ran my first half marathon in 2:12:20! I really had hoped to come in under 2:10 but with my foot & being sick I was really happy! It was an unreal experience! I loved every minute of it. Well almost emoticon I'm sore today but nothing too major. Thankfully my foot is not bothering me at all. I'm going to blog about it soon so you will get all the details. Thank you all so much for all of your support! You are the best!

PPL- I know what you mean about the same workout. It can get boring after awhile. I hope they start up P90x soon!

Dancing- How is your ankle? Better I hope!

Army- I'm sorry you've been sick! I hope you are feeling better. I'm glad you were able to squeeze a workout in.

Well I have a terrible case of the nerves today! I keep questioning myself. Have a run enough long runs? Did I train properly? Will I hit the wall after mile 10? I'm sorta freaking out. I guess I have a fear of the unknown. I'm super excited and just want to enjoy it but can't shake these fears! UGH!

MJ: I can't wait to hear about your race!! I'm so glad to hear that both your voice and foot are better. We must have lost our voices about the same time. Not fun at all! Thanks for the tip on the 30 day shred. I'll have to check that out; at least for the weekend!

Dancing: Good luck on your 10k! I hope you really enjoy it! And I just know you'll do great! Looks like our kiddos are Really close in age... it's too bad we don't live closer or the 2 curly headed blondies would be so cute playing together!

PPL: I hope you can talk your group into starting p90x again! I know you want to be consistent. Do you listen to music when you run? I've subscribed to the podcast, Podrunner, and it has different beats per minute so if I want to run faster and more intense I use the more beats per minute...

I've been so streaky lately! While I was sick it was really hard for me to run outside in the cold, I felt like my chest was going to explode-- Little drama queen ;) But yesterday I did a little run, some pushups, lunges & squats and I got an extra 20 mins on the elliptical in the afternoon! So hopefully w/ this chest cold/laryngitis on the way out I can get some extra calorie burn!

Take Care Everyone!

I have all of Jillian Michaels dvds I might see what I can do with those. I was doing 30 day shed for a while, but I get bored to easy doing the SAME workout every day. O...Well. I was hoping they start P90X again this week. Well guys have a great day!
