I’m praying for both of you. Life is too short and precious to have these situations rob us of the joy Christ wants us to have.

HUGE PRAISE - got a note from estranged son [ not a word from him for 8 years] that he will agree to meet with me in March - this means long bus ride and airplane ride for me and plane ride for him to meet in city. Pray for peace and beginnings of true family relationship to begin to grow.

Loving our time in the new testament - progressing through the Chronological plan is good to remind us of the sequence of the Lord's ministry and interesting the things repeated in different gospels and that the feeding of the 5000 is the only thing in all 4 gospels. I am so glad we are doing this together.

Feeling a need to share a testimony to the joy of daily reading of the Bible with my husband - I so long for him to take leadership of spiritual matters in our home and he has been initiating the Bible reading through the last couple of months - reading through the Chronological Bible - we started last spring then it fell by the wayside - now we are into the New testament and he has a goal of completing it before our garden harvest/marketing season gets too hectic in Latter May or June. SO we are enjoying 8-10 chapters a day - listening to it on take and then pausing at each chapter to "comment" or research something we found interesting or challenging. God is honoring and giving a hunger for his Word! My personal reading is also going well about a chapter daily.

Nice feeling, isn't it, Sue? emoticon

As a followup to my car story, when I gave my nephew a check for the balance of what I owed him for what he had loaned me for the repair, he said he would not accept it. I insisted. He tore up the check and threw the pieces in the trash can saying I was the only one in the family that was always doing for and thinking of others and not living lavishly so that was his gift to me. I cried and am doing so again as I write this.

Lou that is wonderful ! And so like God to make this happen.

My husband and I work together in NYC. We rented space with another person and they paid the lion's share of the rent for 16 years. They retired in December. In my flesh I could not fathom that we would be able to pay the full rent on our own. And quite possibly we won't be able to in the future and will need to make a tough decision. But my praise is that since January, God has made it possible for us to pay all of that rent !
In my flesh I say, "gee, it would have been so nice to have been able to SAVE that "extra" money God is giving us". But I know that God wants us to trust in Him day by day, and I know without a shadow of a doubt that He is giving me and my husband what feels like Biblical manna, each day.
What a big God we have!!!

Thank you for your kind comment about my feeding the feral cat colony. The biggest challenge is the huge bite it takes out of the budget to pay for bags of cat food.

That leads me to a praise report.

For the past week I have had car problems and haven't been able to drive it for five days. It needed an alternator which I didn't have the money for at the moment. My nephew loaned it to me and jump-started my car so I could get to the mechanic that the family has used for years.

Turns out the car also needed a new battery which was not covered by the loan. Larry, the ace mechanic, agreed to take the money my nephew had loaned me and allow me to pay the balance in two weeks when a check comes in.

Now the car runs great, that stress is gone, and I feel blessed by what these two people did to help me get out of the bind I was in.

I have a praise report! I had been having trouble with the company I worked for. Basically we were bought out by another company and had been losing business for quite some time due to changes in policy, which resulted in my hours being drastically cut (from 40 hours a week down to an average of 10 hours a week!) After praying about it for some time, I decided to leave my company, and sign up with another company. (I work as a hospice aide). They could only hire me per diem, and at the start it didn't look like I would be getting any more than about 15-20 hours a week. I knew in my heart though that God would provide. Sure enough! Since I started last Saturday, I have worked 45 hours! My new company also pays me $1.75 more an hour than I was getting at my old job, and 10 cents more a mile! God is just so awesome!!!!!

Lou-I think it is so wonderful what you are doing for the feral cats. I know that God will bless you immensely!

That is a wonderful organization. Glad that it is in your neighborhood.
I love animals but can't have any because of a tight budget.
And we live in the country with lots of foxes and things that could eat cats.
As for my PTL, the job is still going well. I think I have been there for 12 weeks now.
I am also doing well with Chris. Been 11 months since we started dating.
Going to get engaged in two weeks. I cant wait. He is so sweet.
I love him and his boys more than I can put into words.
Hope that you are all well. Have a good week my friends. Holly emoticon

I was blessed today when I trapped a momma cat wet from a heavy rain storm and rescued her three babies, also drenched, from the back yard of the house next to the one where I have been feeding and watering a colony of cats. These four have been delivered to their foster home and will be adopted out in time.

I have also been blessed the past two weeks after I contacted Care TNR (trap, neuter, release), an organization that helps people caring for colonies of feral cats. One volunteer brought me boxes of soft cat food and bags of hard cat food. Two others worked to show me how to trap the cats and the process of getting them to a vet's to be fixed, to get their shots, and to have an overall exam.

There have been four mommas with babies. All have been taken in by foster volunteers. So far we have trapped and had fixed 14 adult cats and all of the babies have been trapped and returned to their mom's. There are maybe four more to go.

It's a sad situation -- Doris, the home's owner that I have known for 35 years, had a stroke about two months ago and has lost some of her cognitive ability, getting confused a lot. She is in a geriatric care facility and will not return to her house. An agency that handles such situations has applied for guardianship which may be granted by a court this month. That will give them access to Doris' funds to pay her bills and allow them to make other decisions on her behalf.

Eventually the bank will forclose on the house and sell it. It needs a total remodel so will likely sell cheap.

Meanwhile, I have been mowing her yards, cutting back tree limbs, trimming bushes, turning lights on at night and feeding and watering the cats morning and evening and stopping by during the day at different times to make anyone watching think the house is being lived in. The yard and other landscape work is not my obligation and I do not get paid for doing it but I do it so the house doesn't become an eyesore and a place troublemakers could bust into and use as a drug den and other criminal acts. I figure all of the good karma will be returned many times over.

Yes, God's hand has been placing people in my life to help with the cats and to reimburse me for the hard cat food I buy. I have adopted two of the colony cats who get along famously with each other in a back bedroom so that's two more that have a dry, cool home with food and water and someone to play with them instead of being on their own, getting wet when it rains, and suffering being outside in our 90 degree heat.

One retired judge I know calls me Saint Lou of Assisi. I need to read up on Saint Francis of Assisi, the true saint of animals.

Thank you Lord.

Lou

I am Praising God for the strength and stamina He gave me to travel back to Toronto via air and bring the Eulogy at my Dad's Celebration of Life Service. My doctor was concerned as were friend's and family for the trip which took me 3,000 miles there and back in 3 days not to mention the time changes. Doing a trip back to back with MS and other multiple chronic conditions is a miracle in itself to accomplish and I did it in the strength of the Lord. I also had opportunity to share Jesus with family before leaving for home. I felt God's Presence and the Prayers of my brothers and sisters the whole time I was there. God provided for all my needs to His Glory. Praise the Lord, we serve a Mighty God!

emoticon , MJ, on separating your fitness from finances and a cold home. Too often we do allow "other" things to waylay our eating and exercising, taking our eyes off of our weight loss goal. Hello Everyone,

First of all, let me say, I give thanks to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for all things and also for this site and this team! Usually, I just give a quote or pep for a huddle. But I'd like to introduce myself and give a testimony. I have been on this site since October and I've lost 10 pounds. I really wanted more, but I realize that weight loss is more difficult at this age. My testimony is, I haven't given up. I have been on many diets and given up after a plateau. Usually, I give up after a few weeks, especially since I've been faithful to my diet, water, and exercise!
Also, I retired and was injured in a car accident. So dealing with limited funds, endless doctors visits, and legal red tape hasn't made weight loss easy at all. But my greatest testimony was day before yesterday! I had a "stomach flu" and vomited so violently that I damaged my partial. So I went to the dentist, with a headache and sore mouth, to have repairs, etc. After a whooping $900 bill, I came home to find that my furnace had quit in 10 degree weather!
Now before you say ahhh, just know that I've got the victory! I'm not sad or defeated at all! Even though the dentist has called me back in for later today, to discuss "something important" (Hallelujah, Anyhow!) I got in over 15,000 steps, stayed in my calorie range, logged on, watched some videos, prayed and praised God! I am determined and encouraged! Yes team, I can do all things through Christ! We all can!

emoticon emoticon emoticon PTL!

Praise the Lord that dad's knee surgery went well yesterday.
The doc said it was a complicated knee but he was able to work with it.
Dad is waking up and moving his toes, doing breathing treatment now.
He also started his physical therapy today. Was able to walk to the door.
Then he turned around and came back. Dad may be able to come home Friday.
(Or Saturday at the latest. Depending on how everything goes.
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. We all appreciate it.
I pray that all of you are doing well. Have a blessed night.
Your friend in Christ and Fitness, Holly emoticon

What a scary time. I hope she got that out of her system and won't do it again. Praise the Lord for bringing her back towards you as you went looking for her.

I was careless and didn't close the house's back door. One of my dogs once again took advantage and ran down the block. I am grateful she was heading home and came to the car when I drove to find her. I need to be more careful. Thought I had learned my lesson with her. So happy and thankful she's home. -- Lou

It's been several weeks since I wrote, and I need to update you. My friend Janis fought to the very end, but she died the end of July. I never did hear from her about accepting Jesus as her Savior, but that's in His hands and I have peace about it.

I spoke last eve with my sister, Sally. She's almost 1/2 way through chemo treatments, and doing ok. God is working out even the little details for her, and she's well away of His presence and help.

Thanks for your prayers.

Hi All,

I am writing this in reply to my friend who wrote in response to a daily motivating message about "Pushing Forward" on our Team Page I am a Leader of, after thinking about this, I realize it is for all to read, hope this inspires, motivates and keeps you going...

We all at times take a few steps forward and then a few back, that's ok, the main thing is we just keep pushing and pushing, looking to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.

While I was recovering from my devastating accident I kept pushing and pushing, I was bedridden for a whole year, didn't have much movement, had others doing pretty much everything for me, but in the end push gave way to shove and step by step I got out of that bed, first it was slow, all I could manage was for a few moments in a power chair, then I advanced to a manual wheelchair with lots of added helps so I could be in it, now I am up in a sport wheelchair pushing myself on my own, have full upper body movement and am able to stand a little with holding onto something or leaning against a counter, I have only a short open window for that, but I keep doing it, I stand a few times a day, basically for seconds at a time, but I'm standing, my MS and other nerve damage to the spine and neck doesn't reverse itself but my Jesus did this for me, He has brought healing step by step and little by little, I still have chronic pain which I take meds for which allows me to keep moving, it may be limited in some ways, but this gal is moving, I give God all the Glory for what He has done for me.

The bottom line is keep pushing and pushing, move those bodies in however way you can, in the end we win with Christ Jesus our Lord!

I've asked for prayer for my friend who has pancreatic cancer. I'm afraid I don't have any encouraging news about her, except that she's a fighter and is determined to beat this.

I've also asked for prayer for my sister who was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. She went this week to the dr then for her first chemo therapy. I spoke with Sally the next day and she said it wasn't as bad as she'd been afraid - that's a praise. She also had several pieces of good news (ex: still at stage 1), and is trusting the Lord. I just wanted to update y'all, and thank you for praying.

Thank you. Sorry I haven't been posting here much.
Been busy with job hunting and helping out with the Summer Reading Program.
It is the last day. They are handing out certificates and hired a clown.
Will make sure that the clown and the kids turn out good and healthy at the end.
(Mostly making sure they have enough hands to pass things out with).
And that they don't try to climb on the table, fall over, and it their heads.
Have a good day and weekend my friends!!!! Holly emoticon

I was truly blessed today.

After I parked in a library lot to attend a seminar, I went to the passenger side of the car to get out a notebook and books to return. For some reason, instead of putting my keys in my pocket I set them on the car's roof. An hour and a half later, after the seminar, I couldn't find my keys and remembered I had left them on top of the car.

Praise the Lord they were still there and the car was still there. The cars on each side had left and new ones parked but no one brought the keys inside, if they saw them, AND no one stole my car with so much in it.

Simply saying thank you Jesus does not seem enough. A true blessing. -- Lou

Glory to God! I spent many years in prison ministry and it fills my heart with joy every time a inmate opens their heart to the love of God, to the light of truth. I pray even now a hedge of protection over this woman, that the plans of the enemy to devour her will be thwarted. If she needs further help, see if there is a Teen Challenge program nearby. They are for adults as well as kids and have the highest success rate of any drug rehab in the nation, by far. The National Institutes of Health did an extensive study of the program many years ago and documented its success rate at 82% for heroine addiction (five years after sobriety). Jesus is what sets Teen Challenge apart from all the rest. It's an excellent program.

Praise God. One of the ladies that I have in Bible Study left the jail today to go to a support group for several weeks. She is such a blessing.
