We went there today for green tomatoes. Couldn't find any at our HEB. Found them there!

I see their updates on Facebook when they post new items. Usually every few days.

Do you get the updates from Facebook? I tried to join their email list and never got anything so maybe I need to try checking on Facebook.

Pineapple was good - but from Costa Rica.

I agree on the sourcing Dee. I thought there would be more local produce. The local tomotoes they had a few weeks ago were very good, but nothing since then. You can add them as a facebook friend and they update when new stuff arrives.

I did get some green beans from Waller and they were good, but all in all, not much better than the produce at Kroger.

The one time we went, I wasn't too impressed. Most of the items we ended up with came from Mexico. I think we'll just be sticking with Fiesta's produce unless something amazing comes in.

Haven't been in a few weeks. Sad to hear that they didn't have much in the way of tomatoes or any good, fresh corn.

I went by the market today. I was disappointed to see no garden grown tomatoes. Only Hothouse. I hate hothouse tomatoes. I got a pineapple - Heather says they are really sweet. I also got some onions, pablano peppers, green peppers and pears. Lots of pepper and tomatillos. The corn didn't look so good.

Thanks! That's definitely the one that some of us have been going to. What a great resource to know what we'll find in the store :)

Assuming this is the same market you are all talking about, they have a FB page that they update often with their new produce. I hope this helps! emoticon

I went by there yesterday afternoon after a trip to the Katy Hardware store. I got some great stuff - including some really good/sweet corn on the cob. It was from Florida, but he said the Texas corn would be ready in about a week or two.

Its all about the same price as the grocery store, with much better quality, so I plan to do most of my produce from them going forward.

Made a whole bunch of roasted vegetables that I bought from the market for supper and the quality was really good. The okra and golden zucchini were REALLY yummy!

Went this morning and I enjoyed it. They do stock a lot of fruit and veg that isn't local, which I wasn't expecting, but they have lots of local goods as well. I talked to a couple of the employees about the venture and they said to always ask about what's local for the day as they often don't have time to put up their local signs on all the things that come in. I got some okra that had come straight from the ground this morning that I don't know what to do with as I haven't cooked it before :) They do take debit/ credit cards- just make sure you are on the right side of the counter. One side is cash only and the other side is cash/ debit/ or charge. Don't think they take checks. James and I got some super yummy peaches as well as some other veg and ended up spending a mere $4.50 so it was a nice little trip to see the facility.

Glad you were able to get some good produce. I'm planning on heading to the market when we are back from Galveston. I've been whittling down the fridge and will need to restock when we get back :)

I went this afternoon (based on Heather's recommendation this morning). It was good. Lots of really fresh local produce and the prices are fair - not super cheap, but no higher than the grocery store. I would continue to go there. It was packed and checkout was a little slow, but I expected that on a Saturday, particularly a Katy Old Town Market saturday. I got peppers, squash & zucchini, cucumbers, and some red lettuce.

They also have dried bulk beans & rice. Several kinds of beans. Definitely worth a trip.

My mom sent me this link to a video about a permanent farmer's market that has opened in Katy.
