I bought a weighted hula hoop and do that whenever I can (when I'm watching TV or watching my niece while she watches TV). My Jenny Craig consultant followed my lead and bought one too, then she upped the ante and got some of these arm hula hoops. She said they're amazing, so I'm going to save up for those to treat myself after I drop the next 10 pounds.

I have started with the usual suggetions. Park very far back. Take the stairs, not the elevator. Doing things like that, you would be surprised how many steps you can pick up.

I work full time and have a long commute, which doesn't leave much time for conventional exercise. So sneaked in activity is about the only kind I get. When I take the dog out to the corner to "do his business", I jog rather than walk since it is a fairly short trip. I do calf exercises while standing at the sink to do dishes. I do leg lifts while watching tv. Also, when I go to town, I park at one place then walk to any other stores, etc... I need to visit (proximity permitting), rather than driving from place to place. At the office, I try to spend as little time as possible sitting at my desk, so as to avoid "secretary butt" and I when I'm filing things in the bottom drawers, I pull them one at a time from the tops of the cabinets and use it as an excuse to do deep knee bends and waist bends. I don't know how much it helps, but it makes me feel better so I'll keep doing it.

I was so proud of a complete stranger today - I noticed that she took the stairs and not the elevator when I was picking up my xrays. Another good tip!

I love parking as far away from a store entrance as possible... and finding little ways to be "unproductive" to add more steps like more trips into the house with the groceries but then I challenge myself to carry them in the house faster!

Moving is better than not, but how fast are you moving? Don't count too many calories burned - but again, better to move than not!

Right now, with my bum leg, my exercise is simply getting from one spot in the house to another. Gracious help me if I have to leave the house - there are stairs to get in and out - and the only air conditioned room is our bedroom upstairs. I currently do stairs on my butt, with lots of arm usage. Let me tell you the burn when I finally get to one floor or the other!

Hubby laughs when I pick up the phone. I walk while talking on the phone. He keeps checking to see if I have a path worn in the wood from all that walking.

The thing is, I don't count that walking in my fitness minutes. Hmmmm. Maybe I should.
