Gotcha. I added the two :). I like the scoring. I actually have a daily color coded chart I use for each day. It has a few simple things that I track since I don't like being wordy and it is super visual (easy to look at, or if needed, show a doctor - since i track my migraines). It covers a whole year on a single piece of paper with room to spare. I think that piece of paper has caused more weight training and anything else I have tried, just because I get to add a purple triangle to the daily box.

People are odd creatures :D.

Hi Loren,

Actually, I didn't hit goal. My goal was 3.5 on EACH score (AM and PM). I score out of five, basically five morning activities I try to do, and five evening activities I try to do. For a while I had added a sixth to the morning, but I didn't want to change from 5.0 point scale, do I multiplied by 5/6. But then I deleted something else. (It was counterproductive to have "Make own breakfast", because I was eating unhealthy breakfasts because I could get the point and still be lazy with two bowls of cereal.) I basically give myself one point for each thing, though if there are two subgoals it might be 1/2 each, if I don't do a good job, it might be 1/2 a point, etc. Then for April I averaged over the whole month. Does that answer your question?

The point is less that I get a specific score than that writing down a score makes me want to work harder to boost it. It's just that I'd rather write down a number than a paragraph about how I did that day. More compact.

I find the daily routine score kinda fascinating. I am not particularly familiar with it though. Do you mind elaborating? It doesn't have to be on your specific routine more of the general concept of the scoring. You got your 3.5, so you hit for goal! :)

So goals report:

(1) No dice. I've attended a seminar online, and printed some math papers. And contacted a few mathematicians about more seminars. But no dice at all on the getting the report done.

(2) At 239 or so.

(3) More like twice a week. I need to drag the stationary bike out!

(4) AM 2.63, PM 1.08 but at least I'm brave enough to compute monthly averages.

It is hard to believe that April is over.

1. Over 1100 minutes for the month. So, goal met.

2. Didn't track fully.

3. Garden is planted. So, goal met.

Also, 16 straight days of over 8,000 steps.

Oh my goodness, April, where did you go!

Final check in

1. Finish my Coursera.org guitar course. Figured isolation was a good time.
So this did not work out. I got behind, then I hit a lesson that i don't seem to be able to get through the exam on and I don't feel like going back through the lesson to try and figure it out again. Hmmm.

2. Completed something in the yard, no matter how small.
Edged! And did some brain storming.

3. Get my bike out at least once for a ride, no matter how short
Yes. Once. Only because I said I would. A little over half an hour. It was windy!

4. Walk at least 10,000 steps each day, stretch 13,000
Yes! The internet sent me new shoes too. So much walking!

Loren--good job. I'm most impressed about the steps.

As for me:

1. I'm already over 550 fitness minutes, so definitely on track for 1000.

2. Not tracking. I know I should but I'm not.

3. We just got the tiller back, so the garden in is definitely likely.

We also started the work walking challenge up again. I got over 12,000 steps yesterday and was in the lead for a while.

Half way through the month, time for a check in.

My computer bit the big taco, and I just got my new one in. So time for some posting :).

1. Finish my Coursera.org guitar course. Figured isolation was a good time.
I am a little behind here. Being without a computer for a week really messed up my timing here.

2. Completed something in the yard, no matter how small
Edged!

3. Get my bike out at least once for a ride, no matter how short
uh...

4. Walk at least 10,000 steps each day, stretch 13,000
I am doing all the walking. Oh my gosh. I am getting around 30,000 steps a day. I am going to need new shoes, and I got new shoes in Feb.....

My goal for this weekend:

Read at least ONE page of paper I'm supposed to review.

Also, get at least far enough to need to look ONE thing up in the literature (and probably request the editor send me a paper from the published literature so I can look it up).

Wish me luck!

Jeff

PS MMMMMMM..... basil!

Jeff--great job on finishing the referee's report. Stay healthy and sane. This is definitely a weird time.

Loren--good goals.

Here's my April goals:

1. 1000 minutes of exercise.

2. Track food and stay within ranges.

3. Get the garden in by the end of the month (cold weather today, which confirms it's good to wait).

A referee's report is a report written to evaluate a journal article proposed for publication. The person writing the report is variously called referee or reviewer.

I've been sitting on this for like 6 months. I generally am not good at getting them done, and any more I'm up front with the editor about how long it will likely take me.

I think your goals are good, just having the goal to get SOMETHING done, however small, is good right now.

Jeff

Thanks for posting Jeff. I am glad you are getting over the rougher stages of isolation. I've been doing well. DH and I do well together so this hasn't been too hard on us.

What is a referee report?

My goals are:

1. Finish my Coursera.org guitar course. Figured isolation was a good time.

2. Completed something in the yard, no matter how small

3. Get my bike out at least once for a ride, no matter how short

4. Walk at least 10,000 steps each day, stretch 13,000

Goals for April:

(1) Get a referee's report done by April 15, turning to the editor for support as needed

(2) Be at 232 lb on May 1

(3) Exercise five times a week each week -- even if only five minutes at at time!

(4) Average at least 3.5 out of 5.0 on daily routine scores for the month

How's everyone doing? I'm finally getting over the restless and mildly depressed stages of isolation and actually wanting to get something useful done.
