I sometimes forget about the positive influences of stress in life and only focus on how to overcome the negative influences. You are certainly correct in that stress can certainly become a motivator in many ways! Thank you for pointing that out!

Welcome to ACQYR's Five Days to True Stress Management course. In this lesson, I'm going over what stress management really means. Then I'll outline the ONE key principle about stress that is going to allow you to have a happier and healthier life! If you want to learn how to manage your stress and have a calmer, stress-free life - I'm here to help. So, let's get started with the first lesson in the 5-day stress course!

Stress Management

What Stress Management is Not:
It is not smoking as a "crutch"
It is not drinking or eating too much to feel better about the day
It is not taking drugs to disconnect
It is not about yelling to let off some steam

What Stress Management Is:
It is practical and easy to implement
It is flexible, fitting into your lifestyle
It is identifying "stressors" and learning coping skills
It is more than an understanding of the symptoms & science - it's knowing the actions to take.

Self-Reflection

How do you cope with your stress?
~
Do you manage your stress or eliminate it?
~
What are you fighting?

If You Can't Beat It, Join It

It's a spin on an old cliché but it applies to you and to your stress. And, more importantly, it relates to the ONE central idea, the one key concept that I want you to understand.

Stress is about management, not elimination.

If you understand this, you will be rewarded with a much happier, productive, and healthier life.

If you DON'T understand this, you'll waste your time and energy trying to fight a battle you'll never win, your health will deteriorate, your productivity will greatly suffer, and your life will be very, very unpleasant. (Okay, that may be a little harsh, but trust me, it won't be very fun at all.)

Going back to the "if you can't beat it, join it" adage... this means you should embrace stress and make it work for you instead of avoiding it altogether. You'll have a lot more success -- with less meltdowns -- and a happier and healthier life.

Stress isn't going away any time soon nor should it.

Stress itself isn't a bad thing! There are plenty of advantages to positive stress that helps motivate many people to successfully reach their goals and conquer seemingly insurmountable deadlines. So, you might as well use stress to your advantage so you, too, can be more motivated and able to conquer your goals without that anxiety that is holding you back.

Stress is a life-saver when being chased by a bear. Your body's automatic response is to give you what you need to fight or flee. While you aren't likely to be chased by a bear -- let's hope not anyway! -- stress is also a motivator when a deadline is looming. That extra bit of motivation just might push you over the edge to reach the finish line.

The very existence of stress is what keeps:

You motivated to see, do, and be more
Companies innovating
You learning and growing by expanding your comfort zone

What's the lesson here? There will always be stress -- it's how you deal with it and use it to your advantage that makes all the difference in the world in how you feel, perform, and succeed. Make a commitment to yourself to learn coping techniques that will help you beat stress like a pro!

Next Steps,

Determine what is causing you the most stress, and then write down
how it is actually helping or motivating you.
~
When you see yourself fighting stress, stop.
Work with it instead.

Though this is supposed to be a FIVE DAY course, I think it will be a five week one, only because not everybody can get on the internet everyday. So take your time, enjoy what you learn.

Feel free to post your responses, but it is not a mandatory part of this course.

Sincerely,
Sheri :) Stress-free Living for life!
