I have worked nights for over 14 years. I have also gained about 70 pounds over the years and I really think the night shift has a lot to do with my weight gain. I think nights is awful for your metabolism. I am trying to find a day shift now that my kids are getting older. My husband died unexpectedly 20 mths ago. The girls and I are still trying to adjust. Anyway, I always start my new day at midnight regardless if I am working or not. I base my nutritional intake every 24 hours so it doesnt matter if I'm eating dinner at 5pm or 1am just along as I stay within my goal for that 24 hour period. Hope that helps

I works nights also, in the NICU =)
I eat dinner before going to work(around 530-6pm) and work a 12 hour shift. I drink water and just snack on nuts or veggies through the night, I'm usually not very hungry. When I get home I sleep, and then work out when I wake up.
Hope you find a routine that works for you! =)

Im in the same situation. Im a night shift nurse, single mom of 3. I feel your pain. when do i eat? This makes dieting even harder. Do I eat at night when i work? I often eat before bed in earyl am 0700. Is this good or not. Do i exercise before i go to sleep in the morning or when I wake in the afternoon. Then when I flip my schedule during the week. what do I do? I thought I was the only one. Well oddly enough, knowing someone else has the same issue is encouraging. sorry I can't help resolve the issue, but at least we can encourage each other to keep going.

I'm working nights now and I find it difficult to flip my schedule. What time is considered breakfast, lunch and dinner? When is the best time to workout? I have a teenager and an 11 year old that require a lot of my attention too. I work at night, sleep in the day and spend the evening with my children. I work every weekend too. my days off are thru the week. Any advice please
