The final results are in: 1/1/2017 weight 296.6 and 2/1/2017 weight 288.2 for a loss of 8.4 pounds. This is better than my adjusted goal of 7.5 pounds. I can look back at the month and remember that I was dating someone for a couple weeks who seemed to think shoveling food at a Chinese buffet was exercise. This was definitely a gut punch for me meeting my original goal of losing 16.6 pounds. I still can't complain. I lost weight and have to keep moving forward.

Well, the end of the month is less than a week away. I am not going to reach my monthly goal at all. However, I understand exactly why. I have been in an on-again off-again dating relationship. We would eat out every evening. I'm talking Chinese buffets and not something like Panera. I had lost like 6.4 pounds in my second week, but then I gained 2.6 pounds the third week. Right now I am down 5.6 pounds total. I could potentially lose another 1.9 pounds between now and the end of the month. So, I will be happy with 7.5 pounds lost for the month of January.

Well, I lost 1.8 pounds this first week. This isn't exactly what I wanted. It is amazing what one day of strong discipline can do. I was actually up 0.6 pounds yesterday morning realizing how bad the week was going. I almost feel like this last week was a warning shot across my bow in order for me to "get right" with my goal.

Hope this next week is nothing but fabulous!

We got this!

Actually, this week hasn't a great week. I tried flying by the seat of my pants and logging my food on here (when I could). I have today to stick to it and make some progress for the full 7 days. I decided yesterday that I would re-implement what I learned at the YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program. I do much better when I physically write down my food to keep the food diary. I started this morning. I'm pretty pumped. It really is all about using all the tools I have collected over the years to help me lose weight.

I just got off the scale. I have been eating like it is my job over the last few weeks. My goal is to lose 16.6 pounds in January. This sounds like a lot of weight, but I have a large number to start. Maybe I will find more success if I can break my weight loss into smaller, monthly goals.
