I seem to have a difficult time doing the foam roller and IT band also. Maybe there are some youtube videos that will show a good technique to use.

Thanks Catherine,

I will try that. On the pictures that came with the foam roller they showed it supporting yourself on the hands.

Hmm, I think if I try that can also work when rolling out the back of the thigh. But that will need some practise

I rarely (if every) support myself with my wrists when rolling my IT band. Usually it is the forearm/elbow. I try to keep my entire body parallel (i.e. no bend at the waist). I might use the upper arm (hand) to keep myself from falling over, but I'm not putting weight on it. I don't have arthritis, so I don't know if that minimal use would cause you problems. But definitely support your weight with the forearm.

I have just started using the foam roller again but have realised that my wrists are paining a lot when I try to support myself. This is especially bad when I try to support myself when rolling the IT band area and the back of my thighs. Does anyone have an idea how to do this with little strain for my wrists?
