Thank you!

He's reading the articles as well. I know that he's always heartened to find that his type 1 will not hold him back from everything (he wanted to be an airline pilot when he was little, and that's just not in the cards)

Type 1, so he's insulin dependent.

At the 10K, he's pre fuels, and takes his shot, which works perfectly.

Is your son a type 1 or type 2 diabetic?

Sorry your doctors weren't able to help or advise you.
I would personally maybe google for info.

I am not diabetic but my mother is and I have always heard or been told protein snacks help regulate blood sugars. No crazy spikes up or down.

I hope you get some answers.

I've spoken with them both about it, and they basically tell us to do 'whatever works for you'.

I would recommend your discussing this with his doctor and/or a dietician who is familiar with your son's specific condition.

Morning all, my teenage son is just starting to run half marathons...he had previously run 10Ks, and fueling/insulin was not really an issue...but the length of the half brings it's own challenges. How do you all handle your fueling and insulin? We ran the Dumbo Double Dare over Labor Day Weekend, and his blood sugar was all over the place. He's running the Star Wars West Coast race, and I'd like to help him have a better experience.
