Check your public library. Here in Austin, the library has copies of all of his books. I would recommend the "marathon: you can do it" book. The benefit of reading one of his books, is that it really helps you understand the logic and principle behind his recommendations. So you don't fall into the trap of confusing the letter with the spirit of the law. Jeff is actually very flexible in person and he spends a lot of time really explaining why he recommends what he does so that you can make sure it adapts well to what your own circumstances are.

Thanks so much! I contemplated buying Jeff Galloway's book, but I can't decide if it's worth it. It seems to me that so much of the important information is available free on the web. I will plan some MM in the next couple of weeks.

emoticon to the team! Yes, it's OK to do straight running on the 30 minute short runs. I encourage you to do several Magic Miles soon, not just to select intervals but more importantly to identity the right training pace for your long runs.

Hello, team! I recently signed up for my first marathon and decided I'm going to use the Galloway run/walk training plan for "Marathon to Finish". For those of you who have been using the run/walk method for a while, can you tell me if you think it is OK for my 30 minute runs during the week to be straight running? My training partner and I would like to do straight running for the 30 minute runs and run/walk intervals for the long runs on Saturdays.

At some point I need to run a magic mile to verify what my intervals *should* be. At the moment we've been doing 3:1, but I think I will likely need to tweak that.

Thanks for any advice! I recently joined the team and I'm enjoying reading your posts!
