Oh, Catherine! I'm so sorry to hear about your broken arm. Sounds like you handled it as well as it could be handled. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Wonder how long it will be before you can run with a cast. I'll keep reading to find out!

This long run is definitely jinxed! I fell this morning during ST and broke my arm.

Fortunately, there is one of those independent ERs right behind the gym, so I could walk over and get treated immediately (unlike the last trip to a hospital ER with DH). When the doctor saw it, he said probable broken wrist, but the x-ray showed only a broken ulna right above the wrist. It is a vertical break with some spread, which is why the wrist looked wonky. So relatively simple, although it will probably have set surgically to screw the bone back together.

So they splinted it and I drove myself home.

I have an appointment with an orthopedist to get it set tomorrow morning, I did have to call DH to come help with the vet appointment later today. I don't think I can get any cats, even kittens, into a carrier today. The splint leaves my left hand pretty covered, so I can't grip anything. Nor do I really want to.

I can't imagine a long run late in the day.
Wise decision! I guess it's hotter everywhere later in the day.

I think you did the wise thing. I much prefer to do long runs earlier in the day, too. Hope you can get it in today.

TUESDAY
Rest Day

WEDNESDAY
Easy Run
Distance: 6 miles (7 miles total)
Intervals:
:20/:40 (1-3)
:20/:35 (4-5)
Freeform (6)
Location: Gym Track
Enjoyment Level: 2+ (out of 3)

Mile Splits: 11:58 / 11:12 / 11:19 / 11:10 / 11:05 / 9:29

Notes: I seem to have been really busy for the past week or so and thus haven't yet fit that planned 12 mile long run in. Today was going to be the day, but an unanticipated meeting cropped up. I could have still done it, time wise, but I really don't like to do long runs late in the day. My GI tract doesn't like it much and, at least during the summer, the gym is on the warm side late in the day. So I just did 6 easy miles and mostly enjoyed them. I should have time tomorrow late morning /early afternoon to do 12 miles, between ST and another trip to the vet (kitten shots, etc.).

SUNDAY
Rest

MONDAY
Easy Run
Distance: 4 miles (5 miles total)
Intervals: :40/:20
Location: Gym Track
Enjoyment Level: 3 (out of 3)

Mile Splits: 9:49 / 9:44 / 9:24 / 9:11

Notes: Long busy day today meant that the run didn't start until after 5:00pm. Not the optimum time for me, but since it was a short, easy run, not really a problem. The temp in the gym was uneven again. One end of the track was warm (although not as bad as last time) -- probably around 75 -- and the other end was cool, probably around 65. I kept the breathing slow -- 3/3, so the temps weren't really an issue. However, I could have done without the humidity.
