You and me both, although with the babies, I turned on the AC today, and then have to actually pay attention to drinking it. Went on my walk earlier this morning, too, both because Willow was to be here about 6:30 AND wanted to beat the heat. I always have issues with heat.

Think I might be hitting another plateau, but at least this plateau is lowere than the last one! Hope all is well and everyone is finding a way to get out and enjoy this beautiful weekend!

Former member of this challenge stopping in to see if anything is still going on with the old members and I see that it has just become chaotic banter between a few. Sad to see it turn to that. I shake my head as I read your arguements back and forth. The exact reason that I have not rejoined this challenge. It was a great thing originally, but as soon as outside sources tried to force their hand in it, I knew it would change for the worse. I think we have to respect the wishes of the team leaders because it is their team and they can run it as they please. Having said that,don't know if it's the kind of team I want to be on anymore, I no longer find it in the spirit I want as part of my weight loss.

No, I have not. I said we do not need 10+ threads..NOT posts... for the same thing, and I have sent out sparkmails to everyone explaining this. A person can only apologize so many times for making a mistake, and I, also am done. I brought in Spark Coach Jen, as some others did. She herself has said this is not a realistic goal. Am I to go against her? If you wish to continue this on your own, go for it! I applaud you and wish you well. Oh, and just so you know, I did ask Coach Jen about letting you who want the extreme thread have it. I would have started it, however she said no. If you have any further issues, then you will need to take it up with her. Good luck.

But Busymom, you HAVE said not to create new posts, which in turn means that not everyone can utilize a thread in the way they need to. So, people cant post if there is not already a thread with that subject started.. I'm pretty sure you will not have to worry about the challenge as we are continuing it on our own. I am done with this and will continue using Spark on my own as I have for two years. I think the original problem was that you closed a thread that sooo many people were actively using. It is fine that you do not believe it to be realistic which is why we are continuing on our own. No harm there. You guys can continue the challenge as a 2 lbs in 2 months for all I care.

Just to clarify this whole mess: I contacted Spark Coach Jen, as did some of you, about this challenge and some of the comments that have come about due to that. Here is her comment:

"The person who started the challenge to lose 20 lbs in 2 months did send me an email, asking if her challenge was realistic. I told her that for the average person on SP, it was not. And I also explained why.

I think instead of shutting down threads and giving the impression that you're trying to control what's happening (when in reality you're just doing what's safe for people), you should report the threads and we'll take a look."

I do beleive this pretty much sums it up. I cannot and will not condone a challenge that one of the coaches herself has said is not realistic. She has come in and looked things over and gave me a few more pointers and said we are good to go.

Goalworthy, I also, have read the posting rules. I have never said we all have to have the same opinion, nor have I said that certain people can't post. What I HAVE said is that the challenge is being changed to a more realistic one, with coach Jen's ok. And I don't get why you have issues with that, since it is the exact same goal you are striving for! If I have implicated you in any of these conversations, I apologize. However, in the spirit of speaking ones opinion, I strongly suggest we let it go. If you choose to participate, we will be with you every step. If not, that also is your choice.

Wow, Soldier's Sweetie, first off I applaud you for being the wife of a soldier, that is a wonderful job although difficult if your man is posted overseas. I applaud you and your husband for serving our country.

It looks like some posts have been edited. I know I am the one who deleted the challenge, it was a mistake and I can't say I am sorry enough to just let it go so we can move on. Lets support each other and know that we can achieve our goals, whether it is 5 pounds or more. Lets show each other what we have found to work for us so that others can benefit. Move ahead on this so we can make progress. You are all wonderful people and I know that once we get past all this we can be a blessing to each other. GoalWorthy you are so right that you didn't complain that it would be too hard for you, you just forged ahead with what works for you. That is great. Others just opted not to do it. In cleaning up these tangled threads, we proved that people like challenges. If not for challenges, nothing good would ever be accomplished. So continue to make it work for you and whoever wants to join the challenge is free to do so.

Today is almost finished as it is nearly dinner time. Tomorrow is free from mistakes and I will do my best to make it a great day. Thanks for all the support I have received, it is appreciated. Now I am off to make dinner, and this will be a creative venture as I check the fridge and pantry for inspiration and ideas for a healthy dinner that fits my day...I didn't plan as well for my meals today and that sure makes a difference. Take care, and keep up the good work everyone is doing. emoticon

Also, having a challenge that only a few want to do IS OK. There can be more than one challenge. Look at what spark people suggests... I never wanted to do 20 lbs, hell, that would put me at 115 lbs!!!! Still, I never complained and said "it's too hard" or "I cant do that". I just made it work for me.

First of all, it was closed at first. Second, no one was against people changing goals. AGAIN, look back in the thread. I originally said I was doing 10 for myself and NO ONE said NO. Of course everyone should set their own goal. I've said that all along. As far as team leaders go, I have read over the "etiquette" of posting and it states that 1. it is ok to have different opinions and 2. everyone is free to post. Again, I have never had a problem with people setting their own goals as mine is 10 lbs in 2 months but for the sake of having one name, 20 lbs in 2 months, that worked great! I don't care what each person loses. I just liked the fact that we tried together and motivated each other. Before the thread was deleted (or attempt there of) there was never an issue about the name. I also liked how tostarz posted everyone's weekly progress, whatever it was. So to tell me to "suck it up" when you have no clue is childish. AGAIN, I have never said having different goals were bad. I just don't like how certain members have been attacked privately.

Okay, I think everyone needs to just calm down and look real hard at how this is coming across!

This thread is back open. Revised, yes. Maybe you can lose more than 5 lbs a month. Good! Great! Go for it! It is my responsibility as a team leader to cater to more than a few. I cannot make everyone happy. I will alter challenges so as they meet the needs of more than a few. I ask you, GOALWORTHY and MOMFAN, is it bad to try to reach more people with a challenge they can relate to? If it is bad, please explain it to me. I am sorry, I do not see the way you do. I would rather appeal to a large group with a lesser challenge, than a group of 5 or less with an extreme challenge. All this bickering is what is counter productive!

So I don't post in here really.. cuz, well.. I just don't have time to normally.

But I wanted to put in my two simple cents.

1 - No one deleted the Challenge. It was simply changed to a more achievable goal. I don't know very many people who can lose 20 pounds in two months. If you can, more power to you. If you want to keep your own personal goal as 20 pounds in two months.. go for it. No one is stopping you.

2 - Last I checked PinkGranny and BusyMom206 are the Team Leaders. And if they had a conversation and decided together that it should change.. then so be it. They are "in charge". Suck it up and stop whining about it.

But why change it? It was an active thread. No one is forced to join the challenge. If someone wanted to make their own goal, that was fine. I did that from the beginning. I didn't reach my goal of ten but momfan and tostarz kept me motivated and inspired. However, rather than allowing the thread to continue and people to motivate each other, it was stopped but then restarted with different guidelines. This just isn't productive anymore. um, ok.

MomFan, I believe we are not communicating...I am not going to criticize you. You are doing well. I am sorry if it seems like we pulled the rug from under you or anyone else. I think if you can exercise as much as you do, incorporate your good nutrition habits and lose more than someone else. On another team, we have a goal of just losing at our own rate and celebrate all losses or goals achieved. Consider that I am at a different spot than you. Perhaps over a month, you lose more than me or the next I lose more than you. It is the number lost, not that you have to lose a specific number. That celebrates all losses whether it is 1, 5 or 15. It may be that someone, like me maybe having a plateau but at least doesn't gain. That is celebrated. If someone else is able to finally add 20 minutes of exercise that is celebrated. I do not wish to discourage you. We were cleaning up tangled threads. Closing this was a mistake and we brought it back, knowing that this was a mistake that needed to be corrected. If I sat down and had coffee with you I am sure that we would become reconciled to a comfortable solution. However, please take to heart that nobody wants to take away from anyone's success. Neither did I intend you to eat emotionally. I can't say sorry enough about that. Please don't quit challenging yourself for your individual goal. It is your goal. My goals are mine and I am not imposing them on anyone. However, I will be a big cheerleader for you as you journey to your goal.

Wow. Let me try to address all your issues.

"not enough for either of us"..as in, um, who wanted it to be 20 lbs in 2 months and who lowered it down to 10? Yes a challenge is something to strive for. And it is also something to strive for in a way that is realistic. Realistically, how many people lost 20 lbs that first challenge? How many lost 10? You make it sound as if you lose more than that, we are going to make you put it back on! If you lose more, great! I would rather keep a goal achievable for more, than base it on one who wants to lose 2 1/2 pounds a week. I personally lost 2 lbs this last week. I also am enough of a realist to know that a LOT of people can't do that. I also know that a lot of people will look at 2.5 lbs a week as a goal that is so unattainable they won't even try. Is that what we want here? I don't! I thought the purpose of sparks was to help people achieve their goal weight by undergoing a lifestyle change including, but not limited to, food portions, exercising, and realizing where and what your own personal issues are.

You wanted the 2 month challenge active again. It is. How much you choose to participate is entirely up to you. Keep in mind that not everyone wants to be pushed to the limits you push yourself, and a good REALISTIC leader, works within those parameters.

On the weekly challenge...you stated the weather makes it harder to accomplish. Have you taken into consideration there are people who can't walk outside-period-regardless of weather? The last week we have had rain and winds strong enough to blow down trees? Am I, as a leader, supposed to encourage people to walk in that? I think not! If you want to, go on and take yourself outside and walk to your hearts content. Those of us who can't, or won't, we will do our exercising indoors.

If this bothers you, I am at a loss. I will not apologize for not pushing people beyond reasonable boundaries. If this causes you to feel the need to quit, again, that is your choice.

GoalWorthy...you, my friend, have hit the nail on the head! No one should be deciding what others should or shouldn't weigh. We all move at different rates because we are all differnt people, each with our own little complex book of "rules" that make us who we are!

Well, this is one of the only threads I use so I'm glad it's staying open. I totally understand closing the million other threads down. My goal has always been to lose 10 lbs. I always track my food, exercise, and other goals. I've been using this site for over two years now and have really gotten to know what helps and hinders me. This challenge has truly helped. Good job to everyone from the last challenge and good luck with this one! We can do it again! Lets keep motivating each other and stay positive! Thanks TOSTARZ for doing what you do!!!!

Okay. 2 month challenge revised:

Not 20 lbs in 2 months, but 10. Also to be accompanied by using your daily tracker to really see where you need improvement. After all, this is not just about losing weight. It is also supposed to be about adapting to a healthier lifestyle through better eating habits. If we are not recording and tracking, um, how do we know if we are accomplishing it?

I've had a horrible week... well, I mean it was a good week but bad for weight loss. Wed was my birthday so I celebrated 5 different times with different family and friends and ate out each time... I didn't work out either... I have decided not to weigh myself until next week... I would just rather work hard this week and at least feel ok about myself... I know I gained! So, back to spark people daily for me! I hope everyone else is doing well.

Ok, my last weigh in for this challenge.. I lost another pound!!! That makes 7 for me! My goal was 10 so I'm happy. My goal for the next challenge will be 10 lbs again. Good luck everyone and thanks for the support! This challenge has been a great help and motivator.

Congrats on the 3 lbs!!! That's awesome. emoticon I am DEFINITELY in for the next one. I am again putting a goal of 10 lbs for myself (20 would be too much). I'm just proud that I have stuck with my workouts and diet the last month.

I lost a lb this week! I'm excited. Every lb helps to get me closer to my goal. I might be making a trip to Vegas June 4th (exactly 6 weeks) so I'm hoping to lose another 10 lbs... that will be a real challenge for me but it sure would be nice to fit into my summer close from last summer!

I agree. This has helped me to stay focused. I get a little discouraged when I stay the same but remind myself it is not due to lack of trying but to a health condition... I weigh in tomorrow and hope I dropped a lb... I've been eating healthy and working out every day :)
