Starting next month I'm going to take the 100 day challenge where I work out everyday for 100 days. I'm curious as to what my body is going to look and feel like after the challenge.

"Man,I regret that workout!" said no one ever

Ok, so I took a Zumba class on Tuesday. I was nervous because I'm pretty uncoordinated, but I managed. It was fun, I think I'll try and continue it on a weekly basis.
Tomorrow morning I'll be taking a lap dancing class, it should be fun and tough. The class i took earlier this month was just an advanced pole dancing class.

What has everyone else tried?

You are a brave woman, Heather--bet you find some muscles you didn't know existed! Like me--I joined a challenge on another team to do "sink pushups" everytime you go into the bathroom. I'm really feeling it!!!

This Friday coming up I'll taking a lap dancing fitness class, this is an extension of the pole dance class I did last month. Should be fun, it's such an incredible hard work out but you would never know until the day after!

As for the poblanos--sometimes they are hotter than other times--if you want to cool them down, be sure to take out all the membrane that holds the seeds. I love 'em stuffed with turkey and spanish rice, or cut into ribbons and "sauteed" with onions to go with chicken fajitas.

I lived in Texas for almost 40 years, so my mind revolves around Tex-Mex food, of which there is NONE in NC. emoticon Probably better for the waistline, though. emoticon

I love figs! My grandparents used to have a fig tree when I was little, the ones we had, had a medium brown outside and the inside is purpuley red. But there are so many different varietys, i think mission figs are a very dark purple, almost black.

ooo they are very good. Just on the verge of being too hot for me, so my husband loves them. He likes things hotter than I do. My MIL lives in NM and she brought us some fresh green chilies the last time she came to visit. I've been enjoying including them in the meals we've been having.

You must really like fish! It's not one of my favorites, so it's a challenge for me to have it once a week. emoticon

Glad your figs turned out so well! Being from Texas, poblanos are my favorite pepper--great taste, not as hot as jalapenos but not as mild as bells either. They are dark green, so I hope they have more nutritional value, but I'd eat 'em even if they don't. I usually have one or two a week, if I can find them at the store.

My new thing is having 6 fish meals this week to see if I can make the scales budge--three down, three to go!

Blessings,
Pat

I've been trying all sorts of new Spark Recipes ... and so far we have been loving the majority of them. I would like to switch my lunch and dinner around, but don't think the family would appreciate it since they're not home at lunchtime. But think it's great that you can.

Wow, READINGGAL, your supper sounds better than my peanut butter & jelly sandwhich with a side of sugar snap peas!

I had supper for lunch and therefore had lunch for supper!

The recipe was absolutely amazing. You could barely taste the figs at all because I chopped them up real fine. I found them at the grocery store with the raisins. The whole family rated it a 6!! on a scale of 1 to 5. Excellent. We want to try it again next week with lamb chops.

My new thing for today is a Poblano pepper. I think it's similar to a green chili or jalapeno. So it will be interesting to try. I had to ask for help finding it in the store because it wasn't labeled.

Let us know how the figs are--I love fig newtons, even the whole wheat ones, but I bought a fig at the store a couple years ago and didn't like it--perhaps it was over-ripe. How do you tell? What color was yours? Mine was nearly black.

Blessings,
Pat

I am trying figs for the first time (other than Fig Newtons). I'm making a Sparks Recipe for dinner tonight ... Grilled Pork Chops with Grape and Fig Chutney. We'll see if the family likes them ...

It's funny you mention that Pat, I always complain that I'm stuck inside when it rains, yet I sit here inside while it's beautiful outside.

I have taken the dog for several short walks today, but that's about it.

I have no idea what I spent my day doing yesterday. I did go shopping and to the grocery store, but that is all I got done. Today I am reorganizing my cabinets, I have no pantry which is incredibly frustrating, and I am a baker, so I always have stuff on hand to bake goodies for the family, so trying to manage a place for that and food is tough, but I only had 2 things in the cabinet that are not diet friendly, so out they go!

I did not get to try the french cuisine, very sad and stupid story...better left unsaid to try to maintain my positive outlook for the day.

Hmmm... inside, not exactly.

Went to church, played outside in the brass band before morning worship. Came home via the grocery store - perimeter only - dairy, vegetables, bread, fruit - ate lunch. Then I went back to Raleigh to Oakwood Cemetery and rehearsed - brass band again - for the sunrise service on Easter.

Now I am inside - fixing supper - since I am going back to Raleigh for Palm Sunday night service. The band will again play outside before the service tonight. Thought I should eat something resembling supper before I go back.

So while I wish I could be outside more today, this is the usual Palm Sunday drill.

Until my daughter moved back to Texas in Feb, I had the upper channels--did I use them? Not very often. We used to tape the Shimmy programs, but we were too embarrassed to actually do them in front of each other, so they didn't get used.

My other daughter loaned me a couple pilates dvd's this week, so we'll see how I do with those. Can't do any floor work--because of my knee replacements, I can't get up off the floor once I get down and I can't put any pressure on my knees to kneel. Bummer.

Blessings,

Hi Lizzie - no I don't have that. I'm a well know cheapskate in my circle of friends. I might go ahead and just invest in the yoga DVD.

If I do expand my TV service, I'll keep the on demand channels in mind.

By the way, welcome to this group. Heather is trying to get the Cary Sparkers moving and she's doing great. Please drop into some of the other threads.

Hi Lizzie!

I wish I did have the ondemand channels, my boyfriend does, I use to use it all the time, that's how I discovered Namaste Yoga.

I'm trying traditional French cuisine today.

Heather that's a great idea.

I just got back from Barnes and Noble and I saw, but did not buy some interesting yoga and pilates videos. (I'm not much of an impulse buyer.) However, I'm thinking that something like that might be a good thing to try out. If I don't like it, I have friends who do pilates & yoga and I can hand it over to them.

Thanks for the push!

I challenge everyone to try something new, just 1 thing every week. It can be something major or something minor, just something you haven't tried before. ie; an exercise, a new fruit, veggie, or other food, a new hairstyle, a new brand of shoes, a new hot spot in town.

So, I tried pole dancing this week, what did you try?
