When I started losing weight my goal was to just get under 300 lbs (i started at 350 something). Well I beat that and ended up losing 111lbs in just one year. I however just recently found out i'm pregnant (14 weeks along now!) So my weight loss journey has stopped for a moment. But I never EVER looked at that 111 lbs lost and thought that was a failure. So while i'm not at my goal and probalby wont be for another year and a half or so, i will make it there and consider EVERY loss a success!

I hit 104 lbs weight loss so far. Started my journey in June 2010 & have been working step by step, little by little & 18 months later I am down 104 lbs. I do the old weight watcher points system & I do it right in the privacy of my own home. Plus I work out 4 - 5 days a week. Been a great journey with lots of slips & slides but what I always do is make sure I get right back on track & do what ever has to be done to keep going. It hasn't been easy but man its been worth it. :-) If you think you can, you can! If you think you can't, YOUR RIGHT!!!!!!!! Just keep believing you can & you will achieve what you are working towards!!!! I am living proof!!!! Sincerely, Vanessa :-D

I do like the notion of taking things in small steps (10, 20, 25 pounds) instead of looking at the big picture.

I was VERY close to hitting one of my major goals, and then had an upset and am back to my mid-weight. Not the highest I've been, but back to where I had maintained for a while. I think the body remembers sometimes and scrambles to get back where it was.

This time I'm hoping to get to and surpass that first major goal.

I've lost 110 lbs over the last 3 years, ~80 of them within the last 13 months. You determine your success :) 13 months ago I had gained about 20 lbs since my initial loss 3 years ago. My graph has a lot of ups and downs, but it is always going down :) best of luck

edit: and DDOORN, it's great to see you posting here still. You were a huge inspiration when I started. You're an amazing inspiration for this community.

You all are very inspiring! I've lost about 92 pounds so far and have almost 50 to go, but I know this is only half the battle! The biggest challenge will be keeping it off. I'm so happy to see so many successful (long term!) people on SP!

I've lost a total of 110 pounds and I agree with ALICOTTER take it in small steps. I've been maintaining my loss for almost 1 year, down from 250 pounds. Don't give up on yourself!

Lost over 100lbs, by taking it in small steps. 25 lbs at a time. Small goals. Not sure what my final weight will be, it will depend on how I feel.

I am pretty early in this part of the journey. I have been serious this time since a couple of days after Christmas. I felt overwhelmed by the entire process. The thought of losing 100 lbs is very overwhelming for me. But, I consider each day that I work out and each day that I choose good healthy foods and challenge myself a bit is a day of success. I hope for great success but, I am feeling better already. I hope that you will too.

I have met people that have lost 100 lbs so I am hopeful that it is possible.

I agree Don. My original goal was 150 by last month, then upped it to next July. To be totally honest about it, I will consider myself a success once I drop below the 200 mark. A 70 pound reduction in weight is a great accomplishment.

Well...depends on how one defines success I suppose...!

I originally set out for 190 as my goal, but here I sit @ 227, about which I've hovered for the past YEAR!

Have I succeeded? I believe so! Sometimes we find our original goals aren't truly "live-able"...I was pleased to read Coach Dean's thoughts about this:
www.sparkpeople.com/resource/motivat
io
n_articles.asp?id=725

When he reached his goal of 190# he found himself so obssessed with exercise and healthy eating that his life was just as consumed by this as it used to be by his unhealthy habits...in my words this wasn't a "live-able" weight.

So while I may wish for further loss, I continue to marvel at the steadiness of my weight maintenance and sometimes I think "well, perhaps I'm *there* and have reached my set-point." I can LIVE with that...! :-)
