I have switched to nonfat milk, added daily fiber to my diet, eat as much low fat food, if it is available, I buy it.

When I first started SP, I noticed I was getting a lot of "empty" calories from drinks I was having. So little by little I gave up the soda, and also switched from sugar to stevia. (I don't do the artificial sweeteners.)

I also make sure I get some exercise each day. After my last surgery, I made sure to walk up and down the hall several times a day.

Nowadays I use very little added fat, since most foods seem to have some fat.

The one thing I do which is not the usual is dictated by the fact I have an ileostomy. When my surgeon gave me diet advice after the surgery, he said that I would need more potassium and sodium. He was pretty sure I would get plenty of sodium. However, on my last blood work I was low on sodium, so I have upped the sodium slightly, which most people don't do. I take a potassium supplement to make sure that is enough.

Maintaining.

Please post the changes toward a healthy lifestyle that you have already made and how these changes helped you gain increased health.
Sharing these changes can inspire and SPARK others to make positive changes too, and also help other team members recognize changes they hadn't already thought of that could inspire them to make a new change and incorporate new habits for their healthier lifestyle.
According to SparkPeople, small changes done every day, such as the 10 minutes of exercise and more healthful diet choices by tracking food and recognizing healthier food substitutions that are possible will goe a long way toward living a more healthy lifestyle. This in turn helps a person enjoy a fuller more active daily life with decreased or even remission of health issues such as mobility issues, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, osteoporosis and other 'diseases' caused by poor diet choices, bad habits, or lack of exercise and having excess weight.
