I started really running back in March with a SemperFit Challenge: 50 miles in 30 days. I completed it, and during my deployment I've met the second challenge: 250 miles in 6 months. So far I've done 316.5 miles and I've got 33 days to go before I redeploy. So now, I'll try the 3rd stage of the challange which is the same as yours, 500 miles in 12 months, which I think I can acheive by Dec. 31. We'll see.

I have gotten caught up the last two months in posting to the monthly challenges. Due to marathon training, my miles are now really ramping up. I did 80 in July and will do about 100 in August.

I think I'm around 200 miles (excluding January, when I wasn't really running). I need to kick it into gear to reach 500!!

Along those lines, I THINK I may attempt to run a 10K next spring. I'm still "running" (taking walking breaks) this summer, but I really don't respond well in the heat. So once it cools down, I can refocus and try to run farther than I've ever gone before!!

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. After San Diego marathon and the disasterous time I had due to my knee flaring up, I was in a bit of a funk. I really couldn't even think about running for a few weeks but I've gotten back into it. Year-to-date mileage is 304.5 miles.

Hi there, everybody! Nice to be back on the boards again.

Family vacation turned out to be a disaster. My Mom has broken her ankle on the day after her arrival (on Father's Day to be exact) and she was evacuated back to France.

Despite circumstances and stress, I managed to train and to run a few 5K races that were scheduled, and my first 10K ever yesterday!

I even got my FIRST MEDAL EVER with 25:21 minutes for the 5K! emoticon

I am taking a few days of rest before starting training for my first Marathon Relay in October with my new running team (I was "recruited" two weeks ago) - I don't know which leg I am going to run yet though.

Still doing great maintaining my weight within maintenance range, and still without counting calories. I think I have figured out a great template for my daily meals. [cross my fingers]

Now, for obvious reasons, I have run less in June and I haven't met my mileage goal, but that's OK because I have run 46.8 miles overall (races included) and I am getting closer to my 500 miles goal! WOOHOOOOO!!!

Counting RUNNING/JOGGING ONLY:
JANUARY = 47.75 miles
FEBRUARY = 68.25 miles
MARCH = 65 miles
APRIL = 87 miles
MAY = 82.1 miles
JUNE = 63.2 miles

Ran 9 today. I'm still adjusting to a 8 hour time change so getting up at 4:45 was no problem.

Today's run puts me over the 500 mark. Guess it is time to set some new goals.

Ran 7.5 today. Lungs were tight. First time I ran in over 2 weeks! Just got back from vacation and didn't take the running shoes. Adjusting to the time change. Woke up at 4:00 am so I decided to just go ahead and go. Good thing I did, it was 88 degrees at 5:30 am!

Hey everyone...checking in with a run in the rain. Me and my 2 boys went out for a run just as the rain started to come down, but since there wasn't any lightening we decided to run in it. We did some fartleks while we were out there since I was missing the speed training at the HS track. They did really well, but I was super excited that I was able to outrun them. My 9 yo almost had me on the last sprint, but I kicked on the after burner and i got to the house first.

It felt really good and it made it so much more fun with the kids running along with me.

Total dist: 2.34 miles

I ran 7.5 miles on Saturday, then went to a mountain biking clinic for several hours (long nap that afternoon). I am training with a group that is aiming for a variety of fall marathons, most of which are pretty hilly. Houston doesn't have that many, so we have some interesting routes to get in some hills on our long runs. Often, these are overpasses, but the reward for getting to the top is that it is breezier than the hot and humid ground level!

Hey all, checking in with an 8 mile run today...it was supposed to be 9, but I got out late and it got really hot. Plus I ran out of water so I figured it was best to just come on in. Got done in 1:31:48 so that's an average of 11:28/mm. I'm satisfied with that.

Well I have to get showered, run some errands and try to get a few sponsor's for our Women's Distance Festival in August.

This challenge sounds great! I was a newbie to running this year and didn't start logging my miles right away. I have 106 so far and will start checking in to see how far I get. This will definitely motivate me to keep it up!

Holy speed work Batman!!! emoticon

It was so crazy...I can tell I was really pushing myself because my lungs literally hurt. But out of the session I ran a total of 3.3 miles (got there a little late because of traffic) and my average pace...you ready?!?!? 8:24 per mile.

I met some great people yesterday evening and hope to be out there every week. Only if DH doesn't have a cow. I really feel like he's against me sometimes. emoticon

Ran 2 miles Thursday as part of run/walk intervals due to a sore shoulder (it's sprained) and then did a 7 mile race yesterday and finished in a pretty good time considering it was a muggy 100 degress.

Today was the first day of marathon training for a mid-November event. We did 6 miles and it felt good to be on the road and with my old group. It was really hot and absolutely no wind, but it was still good.

+ 2.5 miles yesterday morning - EZ and slow run (10:00 pace) through pain. I am afraid it is going to take a while before it gets better... Bummer! emoticon

I have skipped last night weekly 5K Series race because of that... But the POSITIVE side, is that I went to the gym for the first time, and spinned for 30 minutes. I also tried all the weight machines (upper, lower, abs and back machines) That was fun and it made me forget about my disappointment of missing my race...

I was supposed to go for a 2 miles EZ run tonight, but I was in pain just doing Cardio Kickboxing, so I think I am going to pass again. Bummer!

Maybe I will feel better Saturday for my Long run... (?)

I hope it is not to late for me to join. I have kept track of my running since February, although I am becoming more serious with my running now. I am going to make a goal of 500 miles.

Been 3 miling myself to death this week - no reason but pure laziness. But, back to racking up miles this week.

I hope everyone is having a good, long weekend. I have be recovering from an injury and haven't been able to run lately, but I got the OK from the doc on Friday. I ran a little over 4 miles along the Seawall in Galveston, TX this morning and it felt good to run and to do it in a new, fun place. I will be logging many more miles towards my 500 mile goal...training for a November marathon starts next weekend.

I haven't been around much lately either. I've been doing a little bit of running this past week. I ran Monday, Weds, Fri and my totals are in my sig.

I was in PA for an appearance on QVC. You can check me out on the commerical by going to www.qvc.com and searching for item number F04342. Click on it and then click the word "video" above the product info and the commercial will start. I'm all the way at the end so you can fast forward through it if you want.

My body is still a bit sore from that day, but I'm slowly getting back into the groove of things.

Ran yesterday and today. It was cold and cloudy today (that is a good thing here in Phx.) Took advantage of the weather and ran my last mid range run before the race next weekend.

Thank you all for the cheers on my 5K new PR!

I haven't been online much lately, so I am late here for entering my mileage since race day (sorry about that) but I have been updating my SparkPage regularly.

Since Mother's Day, I have run 32.1 miles, mostly on the road, including 2 local 5K RACES with my Running Club (weekly races)

Monday, I will be running another 5K and my kids will be running the Kids Fun Race, in a Marsh that is rising money to save the area and the bird species living in it.
I like running for good causes! emoticon

Been on vacation the last 2 weeks, and no cyber connectivity. We did a TON of mountain hiking, and little running, but I did manage to log in some miles. Anywhere you see a gap in dates, I was slogging up some mountainous path and loving it!

5/5 3 miles hilly run
5/7 3 miles another hilly run
5/12 3 miles and I am tired of hilly runs
5/14 3 more of those darn hills
5/15 4 miles - yeah we are flat landers again
5/16 3 miles intervals
5/20 3 miles easy run

bad to only get 21 miles in 2 weeks, but we did pack on the hiking miles! Did I mention, I hate hills!

Forgot to post my miles from earlier in the week. Just got back from 3 day field trip to San Diego with 82 6th graders. The only running I did was chasing them down!

Plan on logging some miles over the weekend.

I'm still behind on this challenge but trying to get more miles logged. 3.6 mi tonight - and I hit my unofficial 5K mark at 27:30. It bodes well for my next race!
