my company Christmas party was on Saturday.

Although I didn't do horribly.....I was surely not innocent either. I enjoyed a couple of well poured beers.....and a nice decadent and nutricious dessert....how is that possible you say?

well it was a small chocolate brownie topped off with a mixture of berries.....topped off with a small amount of whipped cream.......it was delicious......

and sadly there was NO dancing....which would have helped to compensate for the indulgences....however the very next day I got right back on the horse...so to speak....

one more challenge dealt with ....kind of!

one more this coming weekend....at my daughters place

Great things to remember here Gabbi! Thanks for putting them down in black and white for us.

We don't do much party going / giving so that isn't a big issue for me, as a rule, but youngest DD Meaganne and I both do a considerable amount of extra baking this time of year - which can be dangerous for sure! A lot of it is given as gifts, but there is still always too much indulging with what is left in the house ....

December always presents us with food challenges and to some degree activity ones too.

Food is in abundance and not necessarily the good for us kind - sweets, cakes, food loaded with sauces or gravies, mashed potatoes full of butter....etc etc....all sounds amazingly yummy........but...we all know we can not maintain good health if we indulge too much.

So my challenge for all of us including me is to consciously plan our eating and activity levels - to know what occasion we are heading to and plan accordingly. I have learned that indulging once in a while is fine - it's doing it for 10 days straight that can cause us grief.

Turkey is fine - go with breast meat...light on the gravy and a tiny bit of cranberry...if you go for the stuffing ....leave the spuds off the plate....

I had a bake sale at work yesterday....a fundraiser for United Way. I baked ....as well as several co-workers - an amazing spread of delicious sweet goodies.....I did not have a single crumb - I took my usual snacks and lunch with me...and when I felt hungry I ate that.

I have the company dinner this weekend...it will be a good buffet spread....but that way I get to choose what I really want -----AND I will be dancing.....helps to offset the food.

So .......enjoy the festivities that December brings....whether it is Christmas, Hannukka or whatever - but be food smart - and you will be much happier for it.....
