I agree with Julie. It's a good idea to start with small amounts of cardio. That's why I put it down to 10 minutes to get points instead of 30. The 10 minutes can be broken up into 2x5 if you want. And if you were advised not to do more by your doctor, then SURE you may accumulate your time 5 min on Monday and 5 minutes on Tuesday = 10!

Just move however much you are able!

I think that's a great idea. In fact, I'd even like to do that with my 10-20 "extra" minutes that are always left over after I count my 60. Would probably motivate me more, too. We have several people on this team who suffer from health issues and I think it would be nice to accomodate those who can only work out for short periods.

HAve a question about the cardio...I know we dont get the points only for 30 min of exercise...can that be accumulative over days....I am only suppose to be starting off with 5 to 10 min a day to what I can deal with pain wise and I really need the motivation to do something. What do you all think?

I did it, I did it!! I got my 25 points yesterday for No Junk Food! I resisted the dark chocolate with almonds bar and the semi-sweet chips and the ice cream! I didn't think I could do it. I sure hope the Healthy Choice fudge bars aren't considered junk food because it's going to be 95 here today and we don't have air-conditioning.

becky,
this is a great challenge. i'm continuing on with the no junk food since i made it thru day 32 today.
i have read some on junk food and dark chocolate isn't junk food. also hamburgers are junk food if bought at a fast food place because of the high fat content and added toppings. but a hamburger with a lower fat content grilled at home on a whole wheat bun without mayo, cheese and bacon is not considered junk food. it's all in how you make it !! i hope this helps to know you can still at least eat a hamburger. frozen yogurt is a great substitute for ice cream.

"Trying" is all we need to do when making a change! I don't really consider Birthday cake and ice cream as junk even though it is included in the Wiki-definition for Junk Food.

"Junk food is an informal term applied to some foods which are perceived to have little or no nutritional value, or to products with nutritional value but which also have ingredients considered unhealthy when regularly eaten, or to those considered unhealthy to consume at all. The term was coined by Michael Jacobson, director of the Center for Science in the Public Interest, in 1972.[1]

Junk foods are typically ready to eat convenience foods containing high levels of saturated fats, salt, or sugar; and little or no fruit, vegetables, or dietary fibre.

Junk food includes foods such as hamburgers, hot dogs, chocolate, ice cream, cake, French fries (if oil-baked) and pizza."

Awesome Challenge...very inventive....I am going to try HARD to reach at least some of these. However cant guarentee the no junk food....I am at least going to have cake/ice cream on my B-Day!
