Lisa, don't worry about not doing the challenge on the day it was given! LOL Tomorrow or the next day will be fine too. Whatever works for you! Since I'm on the west coast I don't usually get these posted until everyone in the east has already left for work!

I suppose I could post a day earlier... which would work better for me too! LOL

oh nuts I missed it today.....I could try and do it tomorrow...by the time I read these its 8pm and I am already showered and ready for bed. It would have to be a Wednesday challenge for most of them that require a vidio of exercise...shucks.

i did good with my portions because i used the digital food scale and measuring utensils instead of eyeballing. i've learned i'm not rachael ray, i can't eyeball portions.

i went to ww several years ago and lost 68 pounds. but after i lost it no one was interested in helping me with maintenace. as you know once you lose, they lose money on you if you keep it off. that's the reality of ww. so i quit and i kept the weight off for several years then regained 57 pounds. i have lost 30 pounds here on sparkpeople, but when my son's girlfriend moved in for several months i didn't have access to the computer to track. i got lazy too and gave up and regained 15 pounds. so now i have to re-lose those 15 pounds and then the rest. so that is my ww experience.

it's 11:45 and i'm going to bed and dream of chips and salsa

I think that the salsa is good stuff - lots of tomatoes and veggies. But the chips are bad. I truly love good salsa the way they make it out here in New Mexico, and to me the chip is only a salsa delivery system, lol! I mean, there's one restaurant here in town that makes such wonderful salsa that I could eat it directly from a spoon without having to have a chip. Recently I found out that I have esophageal problems - gee, I wonder why!!!

Okay ladies, I did eat six chips and four tablespoons of salsa-not too bad for me. I still stayed within range for calories, but came in low on carbs!! Now that's a new one for me! I almost never make the folate amount, but did today because I ate several veggies.

Becky what did you say about putting your nutrition tracker where everyone could see it? How do you do that? That would certainly keep me accountable. By the way, I never follow the menus they have listed for me, I'm always adding foods. Is that what most everyone else does? Just curious.

Oh, I have that little expensive clutch purse! But WW has been the only thing that works for me. I wish I had the self-control to eat only when hungry, but I have to track, track, track.

I love your point that you can buy everything a weight loss plan has to offer, but that won't make you lose weight. Similarly, you can buy the best home gym that money can get you, but if you only hang your clothes on the equipment, that won't work either.

I think you have to tune into a plan that works for you and stick with it. And when you get hungry, try playing with your Westie and see if that takes your mind off of it!!!

Hmm. It looks like a black clutch purse... It wasn't really "expensive" it is just a waste of money when I think that I didn't stick with WW to try to make it work. I purchased EVERYTHING that they had to offer. I guess I figured if I owned it -- whatever "IT" was -- I could lose weight! LOL Believe me when I say, "All the books and gadgets that are for sale in this world aren't what make it happen." LOL I have them all and I'm still struggling! LOL

No I didn't fit the wine in my calories today... I had an ounce of scotch on the rocks. I put it in my Nutrition tracking and still was on track!

I used to only track net-carbs because I was on Atkins and still keep track of what I ate in the Nutrition Tracker, just so I could see what I ate during the day.

I tried WW once so I know that is a different way of thinking. In fact, I still have my 'expensive' folder sitting here at my desk that I got when I was a member.

I always track my exercise on Spark People, but I don't track my food because I am on Weight Watchers and they use a different system (points). BTW, did you a fit a glass of wine into your eating today???

OK... well, I measured everything today and was surprised too at my portions.

Breakfast I had Cream of Wheat. 3/4 c. I have been having that a lot so I knew how much to eat.

Lunch I had 1/2 potato with 1/2 c Dennison's chili on top & 1 TB sour cream. I was surprised to see how MUCH 1/2 cup of chili was. I probably would've had 1/4 c if just 'eye-balling'. So by the time my lunch was done... I WAS FULL!

Dinner we had pork chops.(3 oz.) 3 oz doesn't look like very much, but put it along with 1/2 Yam, 1/2 cup broccoli & 1/2 c homemade applesauce... FULL!!

So what I've learned from this today is that I need to eat the proper amount and I will be full with nutritious food and not be hungry to snack!

NOTE: I have my food & exercise marked to share on my home page. If everyone is willing to do so, that would be great! That way we could see how and what each of us are eating. What do you think?

I'm on Weight Watchers, so I'm used to measuring and tracking everything I eat. What I have loved in reading the posts, however, is the chips and salsa discussion. I could eat chips and salsa until I explode!!!

Good chips and good salsa are my favorite thing in the world, and I'm very particular about where I get them. I know the best Mexican restaurants in New Mexico. I just have to stay away from them...

OK so I tracked and measured everything. I was surprised that I wasn't eating enough of some fresh vegetables (that was a surprise) I was going to estimate it which I rarely ever do but was frustrated because of my computer problems and wanting to get caught up with posts and I would have been getting about 2/3 of a portion instead of 1 doesn't sound like a big deal but it could just have easily have gone the other way and been 2/3 too much- it just reminded me to take time and be careful.

I hear ya! Those chips are hard to resist.

I found that having them far away from my reach is the best way. Don't let them sit right in front of you! My trick is to take a few out, place them on my napkin in front of me and just nibble one at a time AND not go back to the bowl for more! If the chip bowl is in front of me, my hand goes like a robot filling my mouth with unconscious speed!

Requesting Pico de Gallo instead of the usual salsa is a great way to cut down those calories, too!

Good Luck! Looks like this is a good Mini-Challenge for Tuesday!

oh, no that'll be hard to resist. i had Moe's this weekend and did great on the meal. chichen fajitas, brown rice, black beans, pico de gallo and lettuce. ate half and kept the other half for dinner. but then there were those evil chips emoticon emoticon and salsa. of course i ate them !!!!! that blew the whole meal. next time i go there i won't get those evil chips!!!!! emoticon emoticon i wish you good luck fighting that temptation today !!!!!!!!!!!

OK Teamies, we know what our portions are supposed to be from yesterday's Pop Quiz, so let's see if we can put it into practice!
