Five prayers each day, but as of today I'm trying to learn to recite Al-Fatihah in Arabic, which is a definite challenge for me. Once I can remember it properly in Arabic, rather than in English, I will then begin to work on Al-Tashihud. Inshallah I will be able to learn these without too much difficulty.

Chris.

I'm very, very new to Islam, so this challenge is just what I need.

For the past week I have been praying 5 times a day, although when friends arrived unexpectedly I did forget all about Asr prayers one day, but I prayed as soon as they were gone and I realized the time. On another day I had to travel with a friend, and because we were talking, again I forgot until I reached home, but did pray, even if over an hour late.

I know this will become second nature to me, and I thank you for the challenge.

Chris.

This has really encouraged me to be better about praying. The last few days I prayed all 5, though some weren't quite on time but I'm working on it.

Assalamualaikum. This is a good challenge and motivation for those who usually not able to do those 5 prayers daily. 5 prayers daily is one of the 5 pillars of Islam so it's best for us to keep up doing the prayers fully everyday emoticon . I wish you guys continue this even though the challenge is over one day emoticon

hello Meg, Allah is watching all efforts. just keep trying without making excuses. go on and on trying and just remember excuses are also a work of shaitan. once you are totally ready to give it your full shot Allah magically clears your path and makes things easier for you. trust me

i'll log my prayers from tomorrow inshaAllah

I am going to join this challenge, I think this is so nice. Rarely do you see a spiritual challenge. Although we are required to do this, it is sometimes a challenge to get them done, on time, every day. I love it.

Asalaamu 'alaykum, I love this idea! I reverted to Islam 7 years ago and for many years didn't know how to pray and due to some bad personal lifestyle choices and struggles it has taken me a long time to learn Islam. Allah(SWT) has been very patient with me and step by step things came to me. Due to my work schedule I am unable to go to masjid at this time. I'm very very shy anyway and get really embarrassed easily in front of people so I really do much better with my salaat when I'm alone and I feel I get more out of it and my attention is not so A-D-D you know. I know the basics of salaat so I do my best but I am no where near being where I want to be. I can pray at both my jobs, alhamdulillah, so I am trying to pack my prayer rug with me when I go to work and I have an application on my cell phone that gives local prayer times. I have the most trouble waking up for prayer and usually don't :( , my meds make me very sleepy plus I get not enough sleep due work two full time jobs. But I hope I can get better at it!! Insha'Allah. Meg

Alhamdulillah!(Thanks be to Allah(God))

Oh, I understand that you're not being bossy!
Telling each other to do good and forbidding evil is an essential part of Islam....so may Allah reward you for your efforts insha'Allah....
Jazakillahu Khairan ukhti!
But I wonder if you can understand that I need to break my habit of not praying @ all, I need to get them regular before I jump in the deep end of finishing my qadhaa's. I don't want to feel stressed out about my qadhaa's hmmm... but maybe that's just what I need to give me a push in ensuring I don't make light of salaah's...
Well Jazakillah sister certainly an eye opener!

Awwabeen is 3 sets of 2 rakaats after Maghrib.

Aminamia- you should make your qadhaa first. I don't mean to be bossy or anything, but if you have missed fardh, you should make that up as soon as possible. It's more important to make those up than anything else. May Alllah reward you for your efforts. I also have some makeups because of mistaking my TOM. That's why I'm working on those before I start working on my sunnats goal.

Alumdulillah, this is not a problem for me, but I am challenging myself to make all of my sunnat rakaats. I know there is a difference of opinion on the amount of these, but for me it's 2 b4 fajr, 4 b4 and 2 after zuhr, 2 after maghrib, 4 b4 and 2 after ishaa. I don't count witr as sunnat but rather fardh, so that's not included. Insha Allah I'll start this challenge in 1 week. If I can do them for 1 month straight, then I'll include ishraaq, dhuha, and awwaabeen. I really, really, really want to make salaat-ul-tasbeeh at least once a year.

I'm counting days in a row meeting my challenge of 5 prayers at the correct times. I'm up to 3. (Slept through Fajr the other morning and started again) - but have been doing better now.

How many days in a row have you all met your challenges about prayers?

We can do this, with Allah's help!
Salaam,

Salaam Alaikum Sisters,

We have physical challenges, but also should have spiritual challenges too, so that we keep growing closer to Allah and serve him better.

I thought we'd start simple so we can have much success, and reinforce basics if needed for new sisters.

The Challenge: Pray all 5 prayers a day, including waking early for Fajr.

We all know we should be be doing this, but reminders are good sometimes too!
