I hear that, Gesundretnug. It may just be wishful thinking. My first challenge is starting: my coworkers are organizing a cookie exchange.

I love the sentiment about keeping on keeping on and food not defining the holiday. Now, if I can just live it!

My family is coming to TN (from N. Indiana and S. Florida) and we're eating at Mom's for Thanksgiving. As long as I stay away from the pie and limit the dressing, I should do fairly well on that one. My DH and I will probably have a second thanksgiving dinner with friends--but they are vegetarian and health-conscious, so it's always easy there as long as I keep my portion sizes down (they cook SO well!). My plan for the whole month is just to keep on keeping on...and to remind myself that food does not define the season.

This year is really different for us because we just moved to Tenn. from Conn. We will be spending Thanksgiving with friends here and traveling north the week before Christmas to have "family Christmas." My plan is not to bake lots of cookies, etc. but just a few so that we can celebrate a little with some of the sweets we love. Also I won't be hosting either holiday which makes it easier to stick to being sensible with food. I also plan to continue my exercise regiman and in fact increase it as I go, including the holidays. I recently "returned" to Spark People and don't want to blow it this time so I will be careful! The exercise is coming fairly easy (since I live across the street from a track) but the food thing is hard because I want to eat 1.too much and 2.the wrong stuff! Hopefully this holiday season can be kept under control!

Don't stop believin'

The season of eating is nearly upon us. Do you adjust your holiday traditions to fit in with your healthy lifestyle? If so, how? How will you deal with issues of food and exercise in the holiday season?
