I use avocado ALL the time. One of my favs is a chicken salad with avocado instead of mayo.

Have had a life-long allergy to roses. Didn't find out until recently, avocados are actually related to the rose family! (as are apples, pears, cherries, and a few other fruits which don't agree well with rose-allergy) Yikes!

Cheese is another big calorie item--I find a small amount of butter is a lovely replacement for the higher-calorie (and I love more of it) cheese on a sandwich. Tuna, for example, can be made very low fat and low sodium, and still taste like it has lots of mayo, cheese, and salt without all of that "stuff" which isn't the best.

Part of dieting means making smart choices as well as sacrifices when it comes to your favorite foods. If you love a certain food flavor or texture and are struggling to avoid eating it, consider substituting it for a similar food that is less fattening and healthier.

Here are a few substitution suggestions that will allow you to enjoy certain aspects of your favorite foods without actually eating them. Try some of these foods and watch how fast your weight drops.

If you like the taste of avocado, consider using it in place of condiments such as mayonnaise.

When smashed up into a paste, avocados becomes creamy and have the same consistency as mayonnaise.

It can also be used in place of sour cream, cream cheese and mixed into various other spreads and dips.You can even add seasoning to avocado to adjust the taste to your liking.

Plain yogurt can be used instead of dips, and can also be spread on sandwiches to give them a creamy topping.

You can mix vegetables and spices into the yogurt to flavor it or just eat it plain. Plain yogurt is not only low in calories, it is also very healthy.

Wholegrain Cereal
Everyone has their favorite cereal but if yours is processed, you could be eating empty calories that have no nutritional value.

Choose a wholegrain cereal and sweeten it if you must.Most popular cereal types have a wholegrain version that tastes very much like the processed version. Why eat unhealthy foods if healthy ones can taste just as good?

If you want to achieve a certain taste with your foods and recipes, donít cover them in breading or salad dressing, season them instead.

Seasonings have very few calories and can make your food taste great. Consider substituting seasonings on your salads, meats and even vegetables.

If you are drinking anything else but water, you could be getting empty calories. Juices, sodas, coffee and teas all contain calories as well as preservatives that can lead to weight gain.

Water will help flush the toxins out of your system and set your body up to lose weight.

It will also help release water that is being retained by your body and making you look and feel heavier than what you really are

Turkey is one of the leanest meats available and can be used in place of most other meats. You can find turkey bacon, turkey burgers and even turkey sausage.

Turkey also tastes great on sandwiches and in soups and salads. These easy substitutions will keep you satisfied while dieting and make sure that you donít feel like you are missing out on your favorite foods and snacks.

You may not realize how many calories or how unhealthy your favorite foods really are until you are dieting.

You may even find that you like the substituted foods even better than the originals. Substitutions can lead to lifestyle and diet changes that will not only help you lose weight, but make sure the weight stays off.

Create a plan for getting back on track if you fall off the wagon. Don't let one small
slip-up derail all of your hard work.
