I plan my menus several days in advance, so tonight's dinner was already "in the works". I will choose a new recipe before the next time I head out for groceries. My best friend and I actually already make it a point to try new things. Sometimes it's a fruit or veggie that I spot at the market that I've never had before and sometimes we actively seek out new recipes. It fun!

I rode my bike for over an hour this afternoon and my knees were ever so grateful they weren't taking the pounding they usually do when I walk or jog. When I got home, I did the video from the challenge. The exercise on your side, with the dumbbell between your feet was pretty tough. I did it with a 5 lb. weight. Should have gone with my 3 lber or even weight free. I liked the video though.

Good job everyone!

One of the things I do, recipe wise, is choose 1 recipe a week. So at the start of my week (I keep a different schedule than most people do) I begin looking for a new recipe I would like to try. This can be quite a challenge as I have a number of food allergies which are quite severe and have to modify things quite a bit to be able to do most recipes. However, I find one each week. Then I put the items I will need and don't already have on hand into my weekly shopping list. I purchase those items towards the end of the week and then make the recipe up in a large enough batch to have "extra." Then I put up the extra servings in portion sizes so I have once-a-week healthy, allergen-free, quick meals from my freezer for a month or two eating that item once a week until its all gone. Works WELL to keep me from cooking, cleaning, chopping too often to manage--and yet I don't have to eat things which aren't good for me or beyond a healthy portion. This works well and while I'm not shedding pounds, despite doing this and all the increased activity, I am maintaining the EXACT same digits on the scale so whoohooo!

Thanks for the dumbbell workout and suggestions....

My favorite GO TO snack: Pick one fruit (washed and peeled if needed) + 1 serving nuts (raw, unsalted, switching up which type of nuts) + 1 ounce cheese (again able to switch it up flavor wise) = fat, carb, protein in small portion controlled size which staves away hunger and is a QUICK healthy go to!

I'm doing that dumbbell workout as soon as I post this. Thanks for the motivation!

I do like SparkRecipes and will look for a new veggie recipe for tonight's dinner. I have some fresh broccoli so maybe something with that. emoticon
