I'm in! I find that I do Seated Leg Extensions during class, which helps the offset the protracted time spent in a chair!

I got the leg extensions no problem but the squats may take some doing? Is in it me? I let you know. . .

Another good reducing exercise consists in placing both hands against the table edge and pushing back.

Squats are one of the best lower body exercises you can do. Why? One reason is that squats are multi-joint exercises which target all the muscles of the hips, glutes and thighs. This version, which requires no weights or equipment (other than a chair) is great for beginners, for anyone with knee problems or for those who are overweight and need a bit more support. It's also great for anyone wanting to add more functionality into their lives because it mimics the movements we do each time we sit down or stand up.


emoticon Place a chair just behind you and stand in front of it with feet about hip- or shoulder-width apart.

emoticon Contract the abs and keep them tight as you bend the knees and slowly squat towards the chair.

emoticon Keep the knees behind the toes as you sit down on the chair for a few seconds.

emoticon Contract the glutes and hamstrings to lift up out of the chair and begin extending the legs.

emoticon Fully extend the legs until you're back to standing position.

emoticon To SUPER SIZE YOUR QFC, squat down until you're just hovering over the chair, but not sitting all the way down.

emoticon Always keep the knees in line with the toes!

Begin seated in a chair, bench, tree trunk . . , feet flat in front of you, palms grasping chair edge at sides or front.

*EXHALE: Keeping left foot planted and upper body still, extend the right leg (bending from the knee) until it is parallel with the floor. Hold here for 2 counts and then (optional) pulse up and down for 3 counts (not shown).

*INHALE: Bend knee to lower right leg back to floor to complete one rep. Complete all reps on one side and switch.

Stand tall with back straight, abs engaged, shoulders down, and legs together.
