My NSV for today is eating at the low end of my calorie range (while still eating healthy) and listening to my body and taking a rest day.

I would encourage you all to make use of this thread so you can celebrate the NSV's of others with them and keep track and encourage yourself.

My NSV for today is that, although I weigh the same, I have lost many inches...I don't know how that is possible since I'm not exercising....but I"ll take it!

I have a Sherpa and fleece coat that is very nice. I haven't worn it for years because I couldn't close it around me. Today I tried it on and YAY!! It zipped!! I would still need to lose maybe another five pounds to make it more comfortable. But it's a good start.

I've been stuck in the 170's for nearly two months despite working out almost daily and eating MUCH better. BUT I have continued to lose inches so I'm patiently keeping on the course and believing it will result in pounds soon! I've put away my size 18 and 20 clothes and some of my size 16 as they're now too big after a 20 pound loss.... hoping to breakthrough into the 160's soon and keep going to the 130's!

I was in a car accident a week ago and have some back and neck damage. I am unable to work out right now but have not let it deter me from doing the rest of this program. I am still on track. The best news is that after a half day of self pity, I am in a great frame of mind about this and getting on with what I need to do to remedy it. Reading the team news and Board messages has helped a lot.

My biggest NSV, like your potting soil, is thinking of each 14 lbs. lost as = to a cinderblock I'm not carrying. I don't know how I could walk up stairs or get out of a bathtub carrying 4 cinderblocks plus!

about a month or two ago I was clothes shopping in an upscale thrift store. I hunted around and found the cutest shirt, vest and skirt. They were not too cheap but considering the quality of them it was a good deal. ONly problem? They were just a bit too tight. They were unwearable unless I lost some weight. So I bought them (an act of faith) and today, put them on (Christmas clothes...on Chrstmas Eve I'm going to my parents' church) And wonder of wonders THEY FIT ME!!! YAY!!!!!

Two people recently told me I look really good and like I'd lost a lot of weight. I've lost 35 pounds but it still seems like nothing because I still have so far to go. I need to give myself credit where credit is due. When I lift a 40 pound bag of potting soil it really shows me how great it is to lose that much. I don't know how I carried that around so far

I finally have gotten used to swimming under water and diving in the pool again. Until this past week, I HATED going under water because I actually forgot how to swim under water. But since I have a household pool versus a gym pool, the waves I create when swimming sometimes end up my nose because of swimming back the way I just came. It's funny sometimes.

Another thing is that I will get out of the pool in my bathing suit and clean it up. I am not worried about what anything things of my body shape any longer. It's mine and I am okay showing off the firmed up bits.

A little less jiggle in my wiggle these days! (HAPPY DANCE)

Thank you Cynthia! I sure do agree with Dr. Fuhrman and you that our tastes do change, especially when we allow them too. Like sitting down to Doritoes......no more for me or any kind of chips really to binge on. Sure, I might still have a handful, but I call it quits after that. It's things that I can count, is what it ends up to be any more. There's so many things that I don't even eat any more because I'm actually scared that I can't stop, say with pasta, popcorn, chips, crackers, anything simple carb really. On some of those things, I'll measure out and I can control that. I'll hardly ever sit down to buttered popcorn any more, it's just too scary! I could go on and on about what I don't eat any more, but it would take up so much space! All I can say is...... emoticon We are in the process of changing our lives over to healthy eating little by little. emoticon

That's great news Karon. Some of the best moments of a new eating plan are those when you discover either something you didn't use to like....or when some kind of "junkfood" no longer tastes good. Dr Fuhrman always says. "You will CRAVE what you EAT"...AFter a short time you no longer will want the things you used to love and good food will now be tasting GREAT!! You go girl!!

I feel that I'm doing a lot better with eating more freggies, especially veggies that haven't always been the best things to eat, but they're sure becoming the best it seems, or part of the best! This morning as part of my breakfast, I even had some leftover cooked carrots and were they ever yummy! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I am proud to say that I am back on the "No Smoking" wagon. I relapsed for 5 months, but I am off them again. Thank goodness!

And I went into the garage where all of the garage sale stuff is packed up, and dug out the pressure washer. We are getting the last of the vinyl siding up on the back of the house. The weight room is an addition and dad never put siding up, so the back wall rotted, but was replaced yesterday. And my best guy friend just brought us enough siding to finish it up and not have to buy anymore at big-box store prices! YAY!! (I did slip Patrick $100 because he's been working well with my dad and he's been working HARD!)

And I can hire Patrick out! We call him Project Pat because he can do anything!

Someone at church said to me yesterday, "you're losing weight, aren't you? I can tell by your face." This was the first....no , the second time someone commented without prompting. The other person was my dad who asked me, "Where did you put the other half of you?" Both comments made my days.

I'm finding it easier to eat healthy now that I've been doing it for a while. I also gave up soda...was a big diet Pepsi drinker, but haven't really missed it.

I'm a big Coke Zero/Diet Coke drinker. Went out for dinner/lunch twice this week and both times I ordered water with lemon. Eyed my friend's Dr. Pepper several times, but never ordered a soda for myself. I stuck with and ENJOYED the water.. a first for me!

MY waist size is an inch down and my hips are THREE inches down. My brand new formerly tight blue jeans are drooping and need to be hitched up every few minutes. The hip exercises must be doing SOME good in the shape department. And the recumbent bike doesn't hurt.

My first NSV (both here overall and for January) is that I've lost 3 inches in my waist and my jeans and belt are getting way loose on me again!

Another NSV for me is that even with Ray bothering me every time I've walked with my Dad at the gym I've walked at least one mile after not having been exercising much at all since around September 2012 - for me it's huge! I used to walk more, heck, I used to do 5K training before everything went crazy, but I'm proud of my one mile right now. And I will work back up to doing my 5K training again soon. I know I can!!

I'm getting used to the idea of NSVs and am trying to get my Dad to do the same - he is so focused on the number on the scale right now and I know he's doing better than he thinks he is, but because he's stuck on that number he won't give himself the credit he deserves.

Hooray for NSVs!!

In Gratitude, Love & Light,
Chrissi

Since really starting working out, my knees have better range of motion and my thighs don't hurt as bad. My rhuemo had told me to do bike exercises to strengthen my thigh muscles since I have RA real bad in my knees which causes pain in my thighs.

Oh you can do it! I am sure of it!

My NSV was that I walked a 5k or more 5 days since last Sunday. And I had walked 3 more the week before that to train for the Trick or Treat Trot. So I went from not being able to walk more than a quarter mile 4.5 months ago, and broke my left leg and was in a cast for 3 months, and now I have walked 8 5ks in the past 2 weeks!

I am thrilled for myself. It takes it's toll and it isn't easy, but I will persevere! And anyone who doubts that someone can do it, tell them yes you can and point them in my direction.

The walking has really kept my mind off my disability hearing that is coming up next month. Even though I can walk 3.1 miles, it still takes me 2 hours to get out of bed, so the disability is still necessary. But it sure has felt good to be moving again!

emoticon for you Linda! That would be quite a compliment and then to keep it in your head for little booster-uppers down the road, that would really be neat! My Rheumy actually told me with my last appt. that he'd like me to lose another 20# and that would put me down to 157#, so I have a ways to go but slowly but slowly, I'm going to make it! And then from 157#, I''ll see how much farther I want to go. emoticon

One NSV that I've been relishing for some time, is that my inner thighs don't rub together any more when walking! You know that "swish, swish" sound when you're walking across the room?! Ugh! I'm so happy! emoticon

I wore an XL shirt and shorts to bed last night. That is definitely new for me. I still look a little chunky in it, but at least my rolls aren't stickout out like shelving units!!

My newest NSV is that I can walk around the yard and only limp the last 3 of 8 laps. I am doing much better, but my calves are killing me. Hard to get used to not limping around!

My wonderful doctor also got my attorney's paperwork done yesterday, so it's a miracle from him as he is so sloooow sometimes!

Oh, and Aunt Di and my mother both commented that they can tell I am losing weight - or at least moving where the fat hangs out! LOL!

I am so glad you didn't gain and that you got good food. That is probably the most surprising thing... that you ate wonderful food in the hospial! Of course, you have paid for that wing yourself, so you should get anything you want!

Yes, afterward I realized it was 2 feet, but still didn't calcualte. And then when I look at my tape measure and measured out the inches, it looks like a TON of inches!

Just like portion control, it seems like everything is smaller than it should be! Also, I keep hitting the NumLock button on my laptop keyboard, so it really should have"almost 2 foot" instead of a foot. (happens to me all the time and nothing the spell check on here will catch on to!)

My pajama bottoms are starting to fall off! YAY! I am not getting rid of them because PJs are great when they are big,but I am going to sew a drawstring into them so I can tighten them up. No one wants to see my backside exposed while walking down the hall!

My NSV for yesterday was that I rode my recumbent bike for 50 minutes to make up for the 25 minutes I had skipped the day before! I can't believe I did it all in one sitting, and actualy did it at all without a fan, and only a potty break after the first 25. I just kept going and soaked an entire hand towel with my sweat! That's when you know you've done a good job!!!

Oh, I did add my "Fat Roll" measurement to my weekly measurements Cynthia, I am glad you track as well. The measurement wasn't as bad as my waist size when I started, which was surprising, and made me feel good.

Ang, I added a category for "abdomen" in the measurements so as to track that as well. because I often am on high doses of steroids, my abdomen swells lke a beach ball. LOL...while I hate seeing how big it is, it is gratifying to see it shrink!

NSVs let me see.
Well, I got a new outfit which I wore to church on Sunday night....and although I got no compliments I thought I looked very nice ! haha.....
Maybe my broken nose distracted attention from my new outfit!

I measured on Thursday, but waited until today to post to make sure I wasn't doing bad math, but I have lost a total of 16.5 inches from my waist, hips, upper arms, and thighs.

I wish it was all from my waist, as I don't really have one. And I need to add a measurement for my fat roll - I know it is shrinking, but not sure why I never measured it. I was probably scared to see if the tape even fit around my waist!

Ang, I was without the use of one leg after ankle tendon replacement surgery. You can do cardio! It's just a little more challenging. I would just sit and play some good rocking beat music and dance, punch, sway (I used one of those stability balls a lot of the time or a chair) to get my heart rate up.

I also had a friend who used light weights doing fast sets to get his cardio in because he had leg troubles. He lost probably a good 200lbs that way after he quit sumo wrestling.

Glad you found some great motivation.

NSV ~ I've kept a 12 week streak with a minimum of 20 minutes 5 days a week. If I can get my booty up after work I will continue the streak into week 13... or is it 14?

My NSV this MONTH is that I only broke one leg - LOL! Just kidding.

I have actually lost 6 total inches from my upper arms, waist, hips and thighs (12.5 total since June). YAY!! And I have been strength training every day since I can't do a lot of cardio with one leg. BOO.

I do miss the cardio - at least I miss laughing at myself trying to follow a video. Does it count that I have been watching the videos?? Partial credit maybe???

Hope you all are working smart and not hard, and having a wonderful weekend. These numbers just gave me the much needed happy kick I was looking for.

Ang

Great going LInda!
and ANGRITTER (I'm sorry your name slips my mind)--that sounds like a great idea wiht the clothes. I have the same clothes in my closet give or take a few, that I've had for the past 15 years. (as you can see, I'm not a fashion plate :) )

My NSV for today is that I was really hungry for something sweet, so I made a batch of caramel, granola popcorn. And instead of sitting down with the whole bowl, I took a small bowl of it and was satisfied with that. It's very healthy...although not terribly lo-cal, but it does beat many of the other options.

Don't you love it when you can get into your own pants. I love going "shopping" in my closet after I lose weight. Actually, I just cleaned my closet out and put all clothes in bins and marked them with the sizes. I promised myself that if I couldn't get into them by Nov, they were going in the garage sale or the thrift store.

UPDATE: I gained 2 pounds since last week, but I've lost 7 inches overall since I started on 6/18. My legs muscles are tight and don't jiggle anymore (except my inner thighs 29.5 to 28), my hips have lost the most at 4 amazing inches, my arms have lost 1 inch, and my waist lost 1 inch.

I bought a pair of crop pants, a couple of weeks ago which I could not button at the time that I bought them (thus I could not wear them). I had to lose about 3 " in my waist before they would button....I tried them on this AM and they buttoned easily. WOO-HOO!!!!

Love this idea. Okay, so I've been at this for 3 weeks and have finally noticed myself losing an inch from my waist, .5 from my arms, .5 from my thigh, and 1 inch from my hips. YAY!

The scale hasn't moved, but I have PMS anyway so I really don't care what that darn thing says!!
