Hey team!

Well I did go to kick last night. I got home and felt a little energized so I went for it and felt tons better! I think just focusing on something besides the day can help.

Barbie- I hope your allergies settle down. I don't know if this is the same thing but I used to break out in red itchy bumps but I'm allergic to something in my sweat. So it only happened after I worked out. Now I'm on a daily allergy med also. I have been to the allergist and they said I'm "a little bit allergic to alot of things." That was oh so helpful lol.

Sherry- Today is going better so far with calls. They have the phone guy up here helping us which makes me feel better :)

Tonight is barn and then some P90X either chest/back or shoulders/arms. I'm going to get those arms in shape!

Sherry, I haven't ruled out anything at this point. I've been told that shingles is really painful but not itchy. I've tried to thing if I've taken or used anything different and I can't think of anything. I'm trying some non soap cleanser for a couple more days and if it doesn't clear up then I will be calling the doctor. Thanks for the tips though.

Barbara, about the bumps: have you ruled out shingles? I was diagnosed with a mild case a couple of years ago, and boy did that make me feel old. Until I found out that an early-30s young man in my office also had been diagnosed with that.

Also, that does sound like some type of allergic reaction. Some years ago I was taking an antibiotic for an infection (first time I'd had that specific AB) and in a few days, I got sicker -- fever, smooth red rash-like surface on my legs, and the infection itself wasn't going away. Turns out that not only was I probably allergic to the AB, it wasn't helping me. Double whammy.

@ Sherry - It's still raining here and I am definitely with you. I am done with the rain. It needs to go away for a long time! Good luck on getting caught up and getting your plan set.

@ Sherry - I wish my determination with my exercise would help you, but I also wish I could see more results from it. I hope you have a successful day!

@ Linda - I hope your family is feeling better.
My allergies are raging right now. No one seems to get that even though it is raining the pollen count is high. Then on top of that I have something wrong with my legs and arms. I am not sure if it is an allergic reaction or what, but they have bumps on them which you can't see very well, but you can feel and they itch or burn. Hope they go away soon.

Hi everyone. It's still misting here, after a 1 1/2 in rain over several hours late afternoon into night. I've had enough rain for quite a while.

I've had a bit of a slow start this week, but I'll try to get caught up, both in activities and getting my points, etc. posted. There are lots of things for me to do and get caught up with at work, and I know I need to prioritize. I think I'll work on that right after I'm done here.

Barbara, you are so determined with your exercise plan. I am envious, but that doesn't really help me does it? emoticon Hopefully today will be better for you, too.

Andrea, what a day for you yesterday with the phones, people calling, etc. I suppose that people leaving messages doesn't help any because then you're spending time listening to messages and needing to respond, while others continue to call. Today will be better!

Linda, is your family feeling better yet? Allergies and other seasonal issues are no fun, no matter what else is happening. Glad you were able to "restart" here.

Good evening all of my Apple Blossom friends. I hope you all had a wonderful Monday. I went to the gym at noon and had very little energy, but I persevered through it. So, I did 10 minutes on the stairmaster and 20 minutes upper body strength. After work I went to the gym for cardio and did 35 minutes on the treadmill plus 10 minutes of stretching and I'm doing my 100 jumping jacks after dinner. Woo hoo for me - 80 points today! I also did fairly well on my food and got 50 points for eating from all food groups! I am feeling really good right now!

@ Andrea - Sorry you had a stressful day at work today, but I hope that you get the problem resolved and got in your exercise after work to help work out that stress!

Hey A-Blossoms!

Well this Monday has been just epic. I got to work and our phones weren't working so calls were backed up b/c only 1/2 of us had a working phone. So I was trying to help people get things fixed. Fun stuff! And we still have tons of calls b/c everyone thought we were closed on Friday!

Sherry- No problem sending points. I have been team captain and I know how frustrating it is to have to hunt people down to get totals. I'm ready to make this the best week ever. I really like the fitness minutes=points this week!

Barbie- Sounds like you have a good plan for today. I hope it doesn't rain on you!

Lori- How are you doing w/ the restarting of things?

I can't believe it's week4 of April already..it just zoomed by in a flash. But I'm looking forward to May. I think I'm going to go to kick tonight if I'm not like totally exhausted. We will see. I might need some good cardio after this day!! Have a great night!

Hi everyone, I've been MIA from this board, too, but know that everyone is doing what works for them.

Linda, perhaps "starting over" gives you a new license to lose. You can kick away what wasn't helping you and go forward. I do hope, the connection and access issues aside, that you're on the right track!

Barbara, you are one of the most constant and consistently positive persons I've known here on Spark. Thanks for your words, wisdom and continual encouragement, and for sending your points to me already.

Good evening all. Our Easter was actually very nice. We got in a 30 minute and I got in 100 jumping jacks. Day one of my exercise streak. Woo hoo. After our walk it got nicer and so Bill worked out in the yard for a while and I just sat out and enjoyed the sun. I have gotten a fairly good start on this week's challenge so I am happy!

@ Andrea - so glad you had a nice Easter and got in a little fun and some exercise. Sounds like the weather was nice too. Woo hoo!

Hey ladies!

Well I had an awesome Easter sunday. Ryan and I went up to my parents at the lake. We took Baer with us and while my dad and Ryan were shooting (targets) mom and I took the dogs on a walk and then we came back and Baer went swimming! It was sooo funny and he absolutely loved it! I was in shorts so I went in with him..he was swimming around and he would splash himself and then bite the water. I wish we could have gotten it on video!
So I got a 15 minute walk in--good enough for today!

Barbie- I hope your allergies get better and it is ok to not have plans. We had a low key Easter this year and it was tons of fun!

Linda- I'm glad you had a good Easter and was able to hear your nephew preach. Let's kick butt on week#4!

It was brought to my attention that the nutrition element of Week 4's challenge may not be fair to some people ~ "Seems as though people who are dairy free or gluten free or have other dietary restrictions will not have the same opportunity for getting points in the nutrition category for week 4."
I am sorry if the challenge as written (eating from each of the food groups) creates a problem for anyone. Please - if you are on a restricted diet and eating as you have been directed to, give yourself the total number of points for the day. We're all doing this to improve our life and eating healthy is the main point I wanted to emphasize.
Also - please send me Spark Mail if you have any ideas for future challenges or blog topics.
Again, I apologize if this element of the challenge caused difficulties for anyone.

Good afternoon and Happy Easter to all! We got up and went to a nice church service. We came home and took a nap so it's a good thing no one was coming to our house for Easter. When we got up we went for a short 30 minute walk. Thank you Andrea. it was quite windy and a little wet, but I thought I can do at least 15 minutes! Woo hoo! Day one of the streak!

@ Andrea - thanks for your words of encouragement regarding the exercise. I am going to make that my priority starting tomorrow. A minimum of 10 minutes of exercise every day. I have joined the 50 jumping jacks a day challenge so that is one thing I am going to try to be more consistent about and then I have been thinking about doing wall pushups etc. a few at a time. So, I am still working on the consistency and I will get it down!

Good evening my friends. I did feel better today but my allergies were quite bad this morning when I got up, I got my hair trimmed then went to Eugene (about 90 minutes away) to see an old friend from San Francisco whom I had not seen for a few years. It was a beautiful day and we had a nice visit and her whole family had their Easter dinner today so I got to see just about everyone. So it was a fun day but not a good day food wise. Oh, well, progress not perfection!

@ Linda - I am so sorry you had trouble with the spark site. I really don't know unless you were able to contact the company and see if they have any suggestions. I agree it was/is a bummer though. Sorry about the challenge, but I do hope you had a good week anyway!

Hey!

Today I got up and went to step aerobics. It was awesome to get a good cardio workout in. Then I went shopping with my mom and stopped by the barn on the way home. I'm going to get a run in before Easter gathering tomorrow.

Barbie- This challenge has taught me so many things already. It has taught me that 10 minutes is better than nothing b/c when you think about it if you do nothing b/c you don't think it's enough you could miss out on 30-60 minutes of exercise. Even if you do 10 minutes everyday that's 70 minutes a week that you could have lost. And it has taught me to utilize what time and exercise options I have. When I'm running low on time I take the dog for a walk. It's great for him and me! You will get the consistency down don't worry!

Lori- That sucks that spark wasn't working for you. Glad to have you back!

Good morning everyone! I'm sorry I've been so MIA this week. It's been hard for me to find to Spark. I've had a lot going on personally with my marriage. I weighed in on Tuesday and discovered I lost 4 lbs. I definitely am feeling more positive than I was at this time last week. I need to get my fun blog composed!

Hey ladies!

Well last night didn't go as planned. SUch as life. Ryan and I ended up changing his fish tanks b/c the water was really foggy. We did that from 7:30-11. I did however get in some very fast yoga and I kind of threw my own twist in and did some situps and pushups with it. But at least I get to keep my streak going! Some days it's really hard when "life" gets in the way! I got on the scale this morning and I have lost 3 more lbs! I knew once TOM was over I would drop down some again. But that is always exciting!

I read an article from Jillian about "proper gym attire." It was more for entertainment than anything but she's pretty funny!

Sherry- it's cold and rainy here to! I was hoping for a sunny and/or warm Easter but not sure that's going to happen. Hope you got good news at the doctor!

Barbie- Yeah always forgive and forget. I like to start every day w/ a clean slate and every week with new goals to achieve. I think that is what keeps me on track.

We are going to puppy class tonight and then I have to fit something in. I'm thinking about buying the Nike + tool to help me with running. It looks really cool and I think it would help me to see progress more clearly.

Good evening all. I had a fairly good day although I feel like I could be coming down with hubby's cold. It's really irritating because he's had his for 2 weeks so you would think I would be in clear. I talked myself into going to the gym and doing a full 30 minutes on the cross trainer and then I did my 75 minutes of yoga after work. It felt good so I am glad that I did it all. I even did 50 squats throughout the day so I got a few points in for us.

@ Linda- Your article sounds like one that I need to read.

@ Sherry - Sorry you had computer issues again today. Hopefully you get those resolved soon. Praying that your friend's needle biopsy turns out good.

@ Andrea - Way to go on the Mexican lunch yesterday. Unfortunately I wasn't as good and had a chicken quesidallea (however the heck you spell that), but yesterday is over so I am not going to worry about it. Remember Progress not Perfection and I think I have had a good week otherwise!

some of the ideas shared are: take a one-week break from TV, look for opportunities to simplify/consolidate--like running lots of errands on the same trip, and if you really feel exhausted at the end of the work day, seriously consider whether a different job might help.

Good evening all. My day was kind of better than yesterday, but still had computer issues, slow-downs and general irritable times. Bah, humbug.

I need to get going on updating my numbers for yesterday and find an interesting article to read and share.

Cool here today, but at least we're above 40 degrees. Rain is back in our forecast starting tonight. It's hardly left since the snow earlier this week.

Someone close to me is having a needle biopsy tomorrow morning. Chances are it's nothing, but to me the waiting until I hear anything is just awful. Check in with you all tomorrow.

Hey ladies!

Well I wasn't to productive last night but I did manage to bundle up and take Bear for a 2 mile walk. It was nice to get out in the fresh air and it actually wasn't raining. The article I read was about things to do for your mind/body that are good for your heart. It talked about yoga, pilates, meditation and deep breathing.


Sherry- I hope your day got better yesterday! The first 1/2 hour sounded like a bummer!

Barbie- I had mexican food today for lunch! But I was so proud of myself b/c I just got one taco instead of a burrito or quesadilla! And I didn't have that many chips b/c I took my very good James Patterson book and distracted myself with that. But Mexican food is killer w/ the carbs! A treat every now and then is great though..don't deprive yourself of living!

Lori- I'm with you in hoping we get a nice weather weekend! I'm ready!


Tonight I'm planning on going to the barn. Been waiting for a night where I don't have to wear long underwear..haha. Supposed to be probably around 45 when I go up there which is fine. I want to try out my new riding helmet!

Good evening all, my healthy lifestyle was 5 ways to love your body,I haven't liked my body for a long time because I'm so self concious but the 1 thing I liked about the article was not pick yourself apart and we tend to look at the negative not the positive things about our body!!!!

Good morning my friends. So far today is going not too bad for me. I have work to do, but I am not slammed which is good since I left 2 hours early yesterday. I am pretty sure I didn't stay within my calorie range yesterday as we went out to Mexican food. I don't think I ate too many calories, but am sure it was a few over what I should have and, of course, it wasn't balanced, but today is another day and I will stay within today for sure.

@ Andrea - that is awesome that you're seeing inches gone! Woo hoo! Keep up the great work!

@ Sherry - way to go on the jumping jacks! I usually do them in sets also.

It has some wonderful sounding suggestions (and recipes) for several lower calorie, lower fat yummy foods that could just help you avoid the "giving in to temptation" that's always out there. the trick is to eat a serving, and not the entire pan or bowl full. In general, don't deprive yourself of the tastes and textures of foods you like. Eat well 80% of the time, and save 20% for small bites and bits of food you really enjoy.

Oh, gosh, another wonderful start to my work day. This one includes a very slow Internet connection, too little RAM to save a graphics file, and an email from someone to a group I coordinate that had wrong information. And that was just the first half hour. Ugh.

Oh the bright side, I learned quite a bit at a meeting about credit card transactions, and office accounts and reconciliation, etc. And I'm not an accountant, nor do I pretend to be one.

Andrea, good for you on the movement. Sounds like a great payoff for good work.

They're not as easy as one might think, and they do work the under side of your upper arms (sorry my mind is drawing a blank on the muscle name)

Barbara, thanks for the info on the jumping jacks. I did 50 last night -- okay 2 sets of 25 -- during TV commercials. I realized I hadn't done them for probably years, BUT my living room floor is carpeted and helped a lot with the jumping/landing part.

Now, on to the next crisis. emoticon

Hey apple blossoms!

Good news..my knot is feeling tons better today! I did P90X chest/back last night so now my arms are sore but such is life. haha Since I started P90X I've seen quite a change in my body already. I'm alot tighter and I've lost 3 inches off my waist since the beginning of the month..yay!!

I read several articles today from Chalean. It was about her 5 favorite exercises..let's see if I remember..squats, lunges, planks, pushups and I forget the other one. It was interesting.

Linda- Do you have any weights where you could do bicep curls or triceps? You could also just do squats or lunges w/o weights.

Barbie- Glad you had fun at the track meet! I'm sure your grandson loved you being there!

Good evening friends. The track meet was fun. My grandson did shot put, discus and javelin. He's a beginner, but it was still fun to watch him make his efforts.

@ Linda - can you do wall push ups of crunches or anything like that? Because those count as strength as far as I can tell. For the wall push-ups you can do a few every time you think about it. I was doing like 10 everytime I got up at one point. The same with sit ups or bicep curls, etc.

Fellow apple blossoms, the exercise challenge this week is new to me all I usually do is walk
so started doing more exercise for beginners my son is helping me with this at 5'0 and in the 190's still got to much in the middle to do some of these but I am trying any tips are welcome
as I'm new to this.
