Well bummer the lighter world link doesn't work. I agree on the bread, if it works for you, why not? I cannot swallow bread well since I had acid reflux surgery and gluten triggers my form of colitis.

I look on Pinterest for ideas too - my, that is a time waster for sure but I find TONS of recipes on there. I am mostly whole foods based, I like to fix green smoothies and salads and I like to saute or roast veggies. I add grains such as quinoa and brown rice, fruits, tofu, nuts and nut butters and legumes for protein.

Curvesarein, I am very impressed that you grind your own flour. It sounds like things are working for you! We are all an individual experiment, I say go for it on the bread! Sandwiches are easy and convenient!

I really recommend this site: www.lighter.world/
It does ask you a whole bunch of questions to start with, but they are relevant ones, and in the end it produces a meal plan with recipes and shopping list (even on the free plan).

Hi,
Whole wheat and whole grain bread might be fine for you. You have to listen to your body. Gluten stops me up and leaves me bloated, so I try to eat rice, corn, peas, legumes, and potatoes to fill me up. But I occasionally have bread or crackers if I'm in a hurry.

Minimalist Baker has some great recipes on her website. Also, there are many posts of vegetarian recipes out there, I just put in an ingredient I want to use (black beans....) and tons of things come up.

I cook in batches: potatoes, broccoli, beans, rice, carrots...and have them on hand to throw together. Sometimes soup, sometimes curry, and a veggie plate. Find a few things you really like and try them different ways.

Bon Apitito!

Thankful...Grateful...Joyful...Blessed.

Thanks for the tips. I am down 3 1/2 lbs now. Whole wheat bread I make myself is ok right? I grind my own flour from non GMO wheat. Use honey for sweetener.

Two pounds is great! Congrats on that! I hardly have time to cook and so I often just saute/stir fry some veggies....sometimes I end up buying them pre-cut - I know that is very expensive but otherwise I just don't have time. I try to limit soy to just a few times a week but I often throw in some tofu for protein. I try to eat whole foods primarily. I also go to Whole Foods and buy their brand (365) of frozen rice and quinoa so that I can just throw those in the microwave to have with my food. Other times I cook things ahead - like on Saturdays I will make a huge batch of rice in my rice cooker and freeze it in small portions - that way I have it handy for whenever I need it. I put a lot in the freezer for later. For beans/legumes, I frequently use canned. I know that dried beans are best but my goal is to make this work with my busy life and this is what I can do at this time. I don't eat bread (not a whole food) but I do eat baked white potatoes and sweet potatoes. I don't worry about starch, carbs, fat or protein as long as I am eating real food. Most of what I prepare for myself takes only like 20 minute or so, if that.

I have certainly found that many things are "legal" as a vegetarian and vegan but not all things are advantageous . The cookie, starches, etc. like baked potato or sweet potato. White bread verses whole wheat bread. I haven't had meat in a week. ButI stil feel my choices are not that good. Only 2lbs lost. I'm going shopping today. I hate to cook. Hubby does it. I need fast easy meals. Please share any good tasting recipes.
