Wow! Think there was someone in the IP team that was missing stuff from her box. The one I bought at Walmart for my mom last summer was missing instruction booklet. I got mine through Amazon and it had everything... that was back in 2016 so maybe it was before the “explosion” of demand and all the new models and the customized variants of the 6 qt model I got! Who knows! Glad you are getting a new cord though. The one I got for my mom has the cord attached to it, but mine is the separate kind (makes it easier to pack up and not damage cord from bending. We take it with us on vacations!!!).

I finally pulled out my IP....only to discover there was no cord! Heaven only knows what happened to it as I ordered/purchased it 12/17! A new power cord is due to arrive this week.

I didn't use my IP for a few months either, @clo33 !! Finally decided to try 'breathe in, breathe out', and tried some super simple recipes like hardboiled eggs, and I think a batch of rice... (because we can always use rice as a side component of various dishes meat or meatless, and the dogs will eat it if we don't like it!! Or at least my dogs will - they love their homemade dog food I make in the IP! They know when I am making their food and they are all over it like a duck on a June bug!!).

@JULIA Thank you for the IP information!

I purchased an IP months ago but have not used it...😳 I'm a little intimidated by it.

Hi, just joined Vegetarian/Vegan team today and I immediately see the discussion about Instant Pots/IP. I got one about 3 years ago when Amazon had their Prime Day sale in the summer. I've used it for beans several times - although, I tend to soak mine overnight anyway (out of habit, after many years of cooking them in Crock-Pots.). I also have a regular Fagor Pressure Cooker but the IP is nice because I can walk away and it will do the timing it needs and release pressure and all of that.

I do see lots of other IP or Electric Pressure Cooker (same thing, just different brand name) blogs or websites and videos that might primarily be meat dishes but very often the same sites will offer "meatless" dishes, whether or not they are specifically catering to Vegetarians or Vegans (around Lent, etc.).

Just as a heads up, some might not be aware that there is a Spark Team for Instant Pot/Pressure Cookers - so if that's of interest to you, you are more than welcome to come check us out! Someone else started it and after a period of inactivity and I found myself helping answer questions because of our experience with our IP (my husband LOVES the IP and uses it as much or more than I do!!!), I ended up as a co-leader to keep it from staying in inactive status. I love mine - I use it for beans, applesauce (for baking) and kids, rice, grains etc. I like not having to soak my beans overnight and I have used frozen meats in it for the meat eaters in house. However, I opted for the cuisinart digital pressure cooker (60 bucks was more my price range). Still has a timer, and all the same settings as the 'instant pot'. Good luck!

Generally 3 times as much water as beans.

If beans have not been soaked, multiply times x 2.5.

Good morning. I have a pressure cooker too but have never used it. I have dried beans that I would like to cook in it, but don't know to. Could you tell me how much water and minutes to cook?

I have no idea what an instant pot is but I have had an electric pressure cooker for 5 years.
I get a lot of use of it, maybe average 3 times a week. Rice and other grains, beans, occasionally soup. Convenient, reliable, does a good job, saves time. I love the timer function.
Highly recommended...dollar for dollar this is the most useful kitchen gadget I have ever bought.

You might be interested in looking into chefaj.com. She is a vegan chef who uses her instant pot almost every day. And she loves it! She has also been vegan for about 30 years. Hope this helps!

A lot of my facebook friends seem to be obsessed with the growing trend of the Instant Pot. I don't have one but I was wondering about them. However, all the recipes I see are mostly meat dishes. I was curious if any other vegetarians had an Instant Pot. I saw there were some recipes and books on amazon and pinterest. I just don't know if it's worth it.
I already have the Pampered Chef Deep Covered Baker and their Rockcrok, which cooks things quicker but it goes in the mircowave. I've never used a pressure cooker like an Instant Pot.

Any advice or thoughts on them?
