Honey is not "naughty" in the vegetarian world, but isn't vegan as it's an animal product. With that said, I think doing what you need to do for *you* is important =)

As a vegan, I stay away from honey and use agave instead (I also try to avoid artificial sweeteners as I am fortunate to not have to use them). If really depends on what stand you are taking regarding using animal products. Since you eat fish, you are clearly willing to include some animal protein in your diet. So for that reason, I don't see why you would have reservations about honey. It is delicious and very good for you.

Hoping for health and happiness for us all ~Peach

Heatherly, green tea is delicious, but it is a very delicate tea and can become bitter if steeped with boiling water. Try to stop the water below a boil. If you steep in water that is not hot enough for your taste, after you brew, then microwave it. It is a very common in the US to brew all teas with boiling water.

There are so many variety of green teas, do experiment. Fruit infused, adding lemon or fresh ginger, or both.

Thanks Miss Viv. I have heard about local honey and allergy relief. That sounds good, especially seeing that the pollen counts have been so high lately. I will definitely give it a try. I'm not fully 100% vegetarian yet, so it will help me transition to the green tea for now. :)

I am not vegetarian..but I do eat that way most of the time.
I love honey - but I don't use much of it as I am not into sweets.
If you are trying to switch to green tea and need a bit of sweeetner, I would give it a try.
Personally, I would try to get good organic honey from your local area.. Where the bees have been feeding on blooming plants. Eating honey from 'local' bees..can help prevent some springtime allergies..it also has other healthful benefits..

Honey is a hot topic in the vegetarian/vegan community. I don't know too much about it, but I do know that since it is a product that comes from a living being, it is usually considered NOT vegetarian. But I do know that some vegetarians that eat eggs have no problem eating honey.

DIET IS A FOUR LETTER WORD!!!!

We are constantly creating our "karma" or destiny through our intentions, thoughts and deeds in this moment. It is achieved through countless deliberate acts of selflessness.

Just keep on moving and you'll get there.

Ok, so I am new to the whole vegetarian lifestyle. I am almost, and I mean like 85%, there. After a health scare on March 23rd, I truly have cut back on most protein. I eat salmon 2x a week. Ok, so been reading a lot about honey being a superfood. Yes, it has lots of sugar, but can you tell me what your thoughts are? Is this a naughty food in the vegetarian world? I don't use it, but I have been wanting to switch from coffee to green tea, and I hate the taste of green tea, yet there are so many benefits. I hate artificial sweeteners, and I would prefer honey to sugar. So, tell me your thoughts.
