Good morning, ASPIRINGVEGAN!

For hand washing I use Dr. Bronner's as suggested by MISS_VIV. I got the tea tree formula, (they have unscented too), and mixed it with water and poured it into a foaming dispenser. It doesn't lather at all on its own so the foam dispenser helps.

Since I have very, very dry curly hair, I use the "no 'poo" method and don't use shampoo. I scrub my scalp and wash my hair with Everyday Shea Moisturizing Conditioner, rinse, reapply a little and leave it in my hair. I blot and use a diffuser on the coolest setting for a short time. I'm sorry it doesn't answer your question, I just wanted to share what I do.

Are there any other specific products you're looking for?

And Charlies Soap for laundry. I have scent sensitivities, so Charlies is awesome. Anyone know of any scent-free vegan hand soaps, shampoos, etc.?

Good morning Spark Veg'ns!

My next question: What does everyone clean with? Let's get some good reponses! I know everyone cleans so no excuses please!

I was using a homemade recipe, but I lost it in the move to my new apt. So, who here has a good recipe for an all-purpose cleaner/disinfectant? The recipe I had called for multiple ingredients.

It's not always easy to find natural products, but whenever I can, I use those.

I use Mrs. Meyers Laundry Soap in Lemon Verbena.
I do add Vinegar when I wash towels. I put it in the bleach compartment. It helps with any musty smells your towels may pick up. I also use Mrs. Meyers Fabric softener.

Okay so I have an HE washer and I put a load of lightly soiled towels in with 1/4 cup plain baking soda sprinkled on top. Into the fabric softener reservoir I added white vinegar. I just filled it to the top, I don't know the exact measurement. After the cycle was completed I pressed my nose into the towels. Didn't smell anything. This is good. I then put them in the dryer and they came out soft! Success!

Yeah I'm glad it works so well! emoticon

What does everyone use for laundry? I'm thinking of using plain baking soda to wash and white vinegar to rinse. I read that somewhere online. I have a load to do right now so I'll report back after I'm done and tell you if it worked well.

Good news! The foaming pump dispenser works well with Dr. Bronner's! The dispensers I got have 1/3 cup reservoirs so I added filtered water and 1 tsp of Bronner's. It works great and smells like tea tree oil so I'm a happy camper!

I use it straight from the bottle.. or in a regular pump. I don't thin it. no need. but I was thinking if you were concerned about it being too strong...you could thin it. Or if you thought it would clog. I would just experiment and see what works the best for you. emoticon

Hi Vivian! I'm more worried about it spurting out than clogging. It's a thin concentrate to begin with and watering it down is gonna make it even thinner. So I was wondering if the foam pump would be better. However, the bottle says not to use pump dispensers to begin with. I was just wondering if anyone had any success with either one. I guess I'll try both ways!

Because of the concentration, you could use the regular pump...(not the foaming kind).. and just add a little bit of water to it to keep from clogging.....

I got my Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap from Amazon! There's an awful lot of writing on it in two different directions even. It's also 3x the concentration of regular soap. Wow.

I'm thinking of getting those foaming pump bottles to put in both bathrooms and the kitchen. Has anyone tried this with success? On the bottle it says that it can clog and spurt in pump dispensers. Idk what else to put it in! Any suggestions would be most welcome!

Looks like you have found your soap, but I will post these links for anyone interested.

www.kirksnatural.com/ This can be found at Walmart or order from their website. Amazon also carries it.

I also use www.mrsmeyers.com/ I order the large refill bottles from Amazon, but can be found in Kroger, Meijers, etc.

I decided to go with Dr. Bronner's -- the tea tree oil one. I got it off Amazon. I highly recommend them cuz of the free 2-day shipping with membership to Prime.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions and comments! I really appreciate them!

I use a dry soap powder at my kitchen sink to wash my hands. Uncle Harry's Natural Products, Aromatherapy Vegetal Soap. Vegan, and organic and it last forever. I also use the tooth powder to avoid fluoride!

Totally fine to post this here! =) I agree with the others' suggestion, but with that said, if you go to any natural foods store, you should find several options. If you want something a little "fancier" but not as natural, LUSH cosmetics (www.lush.com) also has a ton of vegan shower gels and soaps.

Hello to the vegans on this veg'n team!

I have a nonfood question that I don't know if I should post. So here goes anyway...

Do any of you know of an inexpensive but good hand soap (liquid or solid) to use in the kitchen and bathrooms to wash hands with? That's the only thing that's stopping me from moving towards my goal of a vegan lifestyle. Everything else in my life is on track.

Thanks guys!
