Now that our goji berries are finished we no longer put any friut in our green smoothies because fruit is better eaten alone. We are now also very vegan having given the rest of our cheese to the folks upstairs. I do not remember when I posted our green drink recipe if I mentioned that now it is winter we are having all these greens and flowers that I dehydrated during the summer, from our big organic garden and only the carrots, ginger root and garlic are fresh, and of course, the soaked nuts. Sometimes I buy a little fresh cilantro because I did not have much to dehydrate last summer and I like the flavor of that. Next year I will grow more and also more parsley. I have pictures of our growing wheat to make the fresh wheat grass juice which goes in it too.I do not know how to post those pictures. emoticon

I am following Dr Esselstyn's book to Reverse Heart Disease.
My goal is to get one pound slimmer every week until I reach 140, and then stay there forever, healthy.

I notice that my weight always comes up as Kg but believe me, I never weighed 210 Kg LOL It should be reading pounds (that is what my scale says), and I cannot seem to change it so wanted you to know. LOL

I don't really use recipes ...I just throw in a different combination of greens everyday, with banana, and then either frozen berries, apple, kiwi, or some other fruit. I put a tablespoon of flax seed oil in mine, and I'm going to start using a green powder soon (when it arrives from Amazon). I drink a quart of green smoothie every day. My husband used to think they looked icky, but he even requests them now because they make him feel so great! They're definitely an essential part of my diet.

I lost 78 pounds with SparkPeople and I've gained most of it back because I didn't make a PERMANENT lifestyle change; I'm back because I know the support here is an essential component to success. I'm practicing the EAT TO LIVE lifestyle and feeling healthier and happier every single day.

I occasionally get green smoothies to go, but I'm making an effort to start drinking them 5 times a week starting next year.

Had my first green smoothie this morning. And it was really good. I did use calcium fortified orange juice instead of water with spinach, frozen strawberries and frozen mango. It was delish! Thanks for getting me to try it. Can't wait to try other variations.

talk about green smoothies. We soak 6 brazil nuts 1 tbs pumkin seeds 1 tbs raw sunflower seeds 1 tbsp gogi berries 2 tbsp raw almonds (and if we happen to have an avocado pit we toss it in the soaking jar too. soak these over night and rinse well (we soak in slightly acidic water but if you do not have that, tap water will do.
In the morning these rinsed nuts go into our vita mixer along with 16 oz Kangen alkaline water. 3 or 4 cloves garlic, about 1/2 in ginger, two or three leaves of a variety (depending on the season) of kale collards, swiss chard, broccoli, dandelion leaves, edible flowers in season and anything else that grows in your garden including two carrots and run them in the vitamixer for about 30 secs. It is not always the same and sometimes also has about 4-5 oz freshly squeezed wheat grass juice. It is a great morning pick up and keeps your blood pressure normal and our blood work is perfect, no colestral problems. the rest of the day we continue to eat vegetarian and are reaping the rewards of improved health. Thanks for sharing! I've been trying to have green smoothies for breakfast most days of the week since I'm trying to follow the Eat to Live plan. I've found some pretty good ones, but ideas are always welcome.

So it's just fruit, greens and a little water? You don't add any silken tofu or soy milk? I've been wanting to try one of these. I'm still a little queasy about drinking kale or spinach, but I'm going to try it. Thanks for posting.
