My latest was a rebuild of a Dell workstation which I upgraded to dual Xeons, 4 Gigs ram, and a 300 Gigs of storage.

Back to the original topic, the first part of my new machine has arrived. It's a Coolmax PSU, 500W, which will be a nice start. I will likely need more juice than that, but I am only starting it out with one video card.

Before I moved into my current job, I had an internship that required me to read CPU Magazine, PC World, PC Gamer, and all the other great ones. Work subscribed to it, and my job was to read them all. On company time. While surfing Anandtech and Tom's Hardware, also on the clock. And getting paid for all of it.

I miss my internship... emoticon

have you ever seen computer power user? it is a magazine for folks that build. They have a lot of Nice equipment and some HEAVELY modified machines.

While I do not play WoW (I am a CS:S fan) nor do I allow my family to play WoW, I did purchace the "I am not a geek, I am a level 12 paladin" shirt for my brother in law. That and the "Live in your world, get PWND in mine"

Newegg or Mwave.

I haven't built anything in YEARS - I've been in college, and that did not leaveme with the disposable income necessary for building computers. However, now that I have a Real Job(TM), that eventually will lead to my having Real Money(also TM), I might build myself a new moster. As soon as I have paid for that wedding-thing that supposedly will cost me money...

Whops, forgot:
Current machine is an ASUS P4P board with an audigy X-Fi card, a 7800 GS, 2GB Kingston HX, and a 2.8 GHz CPU.

I told you, I havent built anything in years... emoticon

I upgraded it last month though. That wll keep it going until I have the funds to built a Shiny Monster in a year or so...

Any computer builder's here? I have built 3 or 4 machines and am geeky enough that I was at Compusa for the midnight release of Vista (for my brothers computer) I dont even have a computer at my house. I am too cheap for the hardware and software purchases. Plus I refuse to do business with Cox communications the only ISP in the area.

Sorry, off topic there.

Back to the original topic: Do i have any builders here? if so what are the current specs on your most recent machine. And where do you get your components?

My most recent (super low budget) machine is a PCChips Mo/Bo, Celeron D , some cheap ram, and PCBSD OS. It is just a cheap machine that I built to sell, built for 225 and sold for 300.

I do business almost exclusively with newegg.com.
