Hello, I am new to the Sparkpeople scene and thought I would offer my 2 cents..depending on how likely it is that you will want to add apps yourself to your device, I am an Android fan, having had both kinds and though I still like my iPod touch, I replaced my iPhone with an Android device because I could load apk files on my micro sd card and install them on my device much more easily than with an i anything...since several months have passed since you asked the question, which did you go with?

I know there are different Android manufacturers. What ones would you recommend should I eventually buckle down and get a smart phone? I use Verizon service on my dumb phone and see no reason to switch from that.

I am resisting smart phones not because of any lack of nerdishness, but because of reluctance towards taking on those expanded monthy service fees.

Yep, there I am, swimming through the desert sands. Might just be a mirage, after all. But this is life, and we learn best about it if we explore it, and take our chances. A life unexplored, after all, is one of the saddest things out there.

Whadidyaget? I'm Android myself. I have never really been a fan of logos and the brand mystique, and wasn't too keen on the Apple proprietary mode. I've had an Android for a couple of months now, and I really like how easy it is to customize it and use it. (There are even voice activation apps that mimic Siri very well, in case anyone's interested in THAT.)

I have to say I wasn't prepared for just how powerful an Android system is though. Get JuiceDefender or some battery manager and you'll be thankful to not have to lug chargers EVERYWHERE you go with you! Unless you are willing to forgo using all of the goodies of having a handheld computer for a phone.

And I was one of those "it's just a PHONE" types for a very long time!

I've had an iPod for 3.5 years, an iPad for 1.5 years and an Android for 2 months. I never thought I'd say this but I'd go for the Android. It's more intuitive. The problem with idevices, which are super, is they are Apple and don't play well with non Apple devices. It's frustrating. That's my take on it.

If you aren't stuck with a contract try a no contract Android for awhile and see what you think. There are a couple no contract iPhones now too if you want to try that first.

Hello fellow geeks and nerds. I know this isn't a weight related topic, but I need help. As of now I am stuck between an iPhone or an Android. I have looked up countless reviews, and I am still not sure. I was hoping to get some help from ya'll, because I figured that most of all ya'll have either one. I would really appreciate ya'lls opinion. So lcan I get some help?
