The HISHE for that cracked me up (of course, most of all the HISHEs do...)

I'll have to check out the music!

Am I the only weirdo who love the soundtrack to Halo? Haha! It's not a super pump-you-up list all the way through, but I enjoy it for brisk walks or gentle jogging.

Also have other soundtrack music like Hunger Games, Spiderman, and Pirates of the Caribbean.

I have several Amazon Prime free playlists downloaded to my phone since I don't get cell service at my gym (it's built into the side of a hill, like a damn bomb shelter). I've got everything from Dubstep (for lifting weights, I like that steady hard bass), dancey pop (for HIIT), to Fleetwood Mac (my go-to playlist for metro riding) and punk-pop-alt rock (eg, Green Day, Strokes, Ramones, etc for running). I even have some relaxing new-agey stuff (like what you hear in a massage parlor) for meditating and doing yoga.

I love Pandora, but since I use the free version, I have to listen to commercials. It's fine when I'm at home and need background noise for doing chores, but I can't have it on relaxing classical station while I'm reading and suddenly a particularly disruptive commercial comes on (you know the obnoxious sales-guy type, like the stereotypical car dealership ones).

Just call me La. Most everyone else does.

This is the link to my main workout playlist on Spotify. It ramps up in tempo and then back down, which works well for my preferred workout style.

I love my heavy bag, and it fits with how much I love my rock music. I get inspired by 80s rock like "Eye of the Tiger" (it's a family favorite) and "We're Not Gonna Take It" and new hard rock like Shinedown, Theory of a Deadman, and a new band I just discovered Stellar Revival when I need to feel pumped and motivated for a workout. My husband has a Sylvester-Arnold inspired playlist with songs from their movies that I sometimes glean from to boost my workouts as well.

Never underestimate the power of a redhead.

@ SCHNOOKIEPIE--I love pandora, too :) But I tend to use Last FM more because of the scrobbling option and because I like exploring a lot of very different styles of music--it's a tad more social, too. I downloaded their pc app so am not site as much as before, though (plus the downloaded app doesn't have commercials or an "are you listening" thing)

I tend to listen to a lot of world music. Like for upbeat stuff I really love gypsy balkan punk/electronic, a type of flamenco rock (that I've really only heard Rodrigo y Gabriela do), some Bhangra/Bollywood, etc. but I also like blues rock like The Black Keys. I've been meaning to buy some Caribbean/South American Carnaval music--maybe Soca or something but haven't found what I want yet. I'm thinking about getting some music in the glitch or dub step category--though not really familiar with them yet--like Big Gigantic, Pretty Lights, Bassnectar, etc.

For cool down or stretching stuff I listen a lot to a Middle Eastern group called Niyaz and to medieval plain chant--Hildegard von Bingen. There are other groups similar to Niyaz that I listen to on Last FM but don't have their albums yet like Stellemara, Irfan, Mercan Dede, etc. Also Niyaz is fronted by Azam Ali so her other projects are faves, too, like Axiom of Choice and Vas. I also like soft Celtic, Native American flute, and North Indian flute (bansuri). There's also a Portuguese style I like called Fado--not really exceptionally calm but not high energy, either. A Cape Verde creole version of this is called Morna. That's good, too. Oh, yeah, there's also a lot of downtempo electronic that I get into--Bonobo, Thievery Corporation, The Herbaliser, 9 Lazy 9.

Oh, and soft jazz is also great for cool downs--like Chet Baker, Johnny Hartman, John Coltrane, Ella Fitzgerald, Dave Brubeck, etc. So I'm with you on that one, too, SCHNOOKIEPIE.

I've got a mix of a little bit of everything - from Five Finger Death Punch if I'm in a metal mood to Usher & Ke$ha if I'm in more of a pop mood. My favorite new songs to workout to right now are "Sexy and I know it" by LMFAO and "Rain over me" by Pitbull and Marc Anthony

What kind of workout music do you like and how do you like to listen to it?

When I do yoga at home I love the Cool Jazz station on Pandora via my laptop.
When I walk the dog, I use my own MP3 mix on my phone using Google Music. I love Google Music because you can access your selection from anywhere and they give you a ton of freebies too:)
