Um.. I think about a year and a half or so. Not consistently though, and these days I use it primarily to change things up, or for cardio when it rains and I can't go outside.

Chilli - that sounds great! I'm going to look it up as well.

Other things I do - play DDR (Dance Dance Revolution), which is a rhythm based video game that is great for exercise. I also go to the gym for classes like pilates, step, & water aerobics.

And on a geeky note, playing the Wii is much more active than other systems :)

I found it here: www.yourselffitness.com

I bought my copy from Amazon, since that was cheaper than buying it directly from them. I have heard rumors of issues with later versions of DirectX 9, but I have never seen any on my system. The game is also available for PS2 and original Xbox, if you have either. I like having it on my laptop, since the laptop is portable, and I can take it on trips and into the shadiest room in the house, and so on.

What I like most about Y!F is that it scales the difficulty level very well. It can go from complete couch potato that can barely lift their arms, to almost professional gymnast, and everyone in between, and all of them will get a good and challenging workout. It lets you set up a profile before starting your workouts, complete with a fitness evaluation: How many push-ups can you do? How many crunches? Take your pulse. Now do jumping jacks for two minute and take it again... how much do you weigh? Do you want to use the free meal plan that comes with it? (I never have, so I can't speak for the meal plan. I have seen favorable reviews of it though.)

If you stick to your workout schedules you get rewards in the form of bronze, silver, and gold barbells, and you can unlock different types of workout music and locations.

I consider this one of my best workout investments ever, almost above my running shoes. It is definitely worth checking out.

Another trick is to subscribe to the Sparkpeople accout on YouTube. They post all their workout videos there. ;)

Martial arts! :)

I've realized that if I'm going to survive learning this very cool and awesome thing known as "karate", I need to be fit. There's no way around it. So I'm now trying to build up muscle tone, and stamina. I'm using a neat little game-like application called Yourself!Fitness that I have on my computer. It's almost like a videogame, except it's a workout program. It's pretty cool. :)

Hi all. I'm a 33yo female from Dublin, OH. I work in an office, have a mostly sedentary lifestyle (I am a geek, after all!).

What steps are folks in this group taking to break the sedentary lifestyle of being a geek?
