Oooooh conventions.....
I go to anime conventions (there's one coming up on Friday!! w00t!!) and I usually don't have to worry too much about it because I'm walking around all day taking pictures, going to panels, randomly dancing to Caremelldansen, and drinking plenty of water (they put water coolers ALL over).

So if you're having trouble at cons....I think you're at the wrong type of convention. ;P

But, seriously, yeah, I tend to eat foods that aren't so healthy. Just make sure it's in moderation....which isn't a problem when you're poor. XD Last year it was pringles. XD (I think I have a pic of the pringles fiasco on my page, actually. XD) Sure, we ate a lot of them, but it was only one can among three people so it wasn't really THAT bad and we had fun with them (as you can see from the pic XD).

But don't feel too terrible about splurging. You can always make up for it afterwards or, if you can't trust you'll do that (like me), you can be extra good beforehand. Just make sure you get back on track after.

The most important part is not giving up. ^__^

Good luck and have lots of fun!!

I've just come back from a conference. Yeah it was bread and cheese heavy, crisps, muffins and coffee.. oh and the inevitable meals out washed down with copious quantities of alcohol.

Given it was impossible to avoid.. I just limited myself to one plate of food at lunch (as opposed to everyone elses two). I didn't deny my social obligations, but made sure that I didn't end up being obligated to stay out till 4am (like the conference organisers did).

So, well, I'm pretty aware that I probably wasn't in my calorie range those 3 days. But it's impossible to calculate, and I am not going to sit around bemoaning the lack of healthy options that were available (there just were NONE). I just prided myself on being at least a bit more restrained than everyone else. I have to do that daily anyway on my diet...

Saying that I haven't dared get on the scales since I got back. Saving that for tomorrow mornings weigh in, until my body feels like it has returned to normal. It's weird being practically veggie at home, and then having 3 days of meat with every meal!

I have a really bad habit of taking a break from exercise and healthy eating when I'm at cons. The cheesey puffs and chocolate come out. I stay up all night (whether at parties or gaming) and then it's all over.

Any great suggestions for how to stay on track? I've made a start for Worldcon this year by booking a hotel room with a fridge.
