Went to see Doctor today and he has me on Lasix and all I do Is "P". I try to remember to take it in the morning, so at least I can have a decent nightls sleep without getting up every 2 hours to "P". Between the doctor visit and meds, I am in the poor house. LOL Not quite, but getting closer and closer.. Bev

Hi Kim, Thank you for the kind words, and I am glad to be back with the living, so to speak.

As an update, went to Med7 and saw a different Doc, (they change docs all the time) Dr Jack Kraft was really good for me. He said I didn't need an shot, but did give me another prescription for the Doxi (whatever, cannot ever remember the name) Then saw the swelling on my legs and wondered why the other docs didn't prescribe Lasix. So the gal bandaged me up and I left with a prescription of Doxi, whatever, and Lasix and something for Potassium, because Lasix depletes it. He would not prescribe the Lasix unless he tested my kidneys to make sure I was OK, the gal could not find a vein, but finally did but NOTHING. So they gave me a prescription to go to Quest Labs for the CBC blood test because they would have smaller needles. By the time I went to doctor, QUEST and Wal-Mart to fill prescriptions, I was totally exhausted. But still glad I went out.

Met a gal in Wal-Mart and she was buying all the Protein Drinks. HMMMM Figured I was missing out and I asked her to give me one, she did and told me that she drinks one every morning instead of breakfast because she is soooo busy with the kids and lost 47 lbs. Now that I could do. So I got a Vanilla one and a Chocolate one.

This Morning, I made my Oatmeal and instead of the milk, used the Vanilla Protein Shake, and it was awesome, wished I had made more. LOL

Bev emoticon

Hi everyone, I am up and about. Very happy and satisfied in my home, but need to venture out and going to Starbucks on Wed. The Manager leaving (YEA) and going to say goodbye to her, and help push her out the door. LOL.. I hope to meet the new manager. I am still on antibiotics and visiting RN coming on Sunday. She wants me to put on Compression Socks, she must be on crack, because I tried, and not gonna happen. Bev

So glad to have you. I am on another team, which is very, very, very active. I was in the hospital for 5 days and fighting with Medicare, Insurance company and hospital. My hospital visit was less then stellar. Bev

Hi Viv, so nice to hear from you. I never know which team you are on. I made the chicken and I could eat it as well as the mashed potatoes.

I am still freezing my arse off, could be I am fighting off a cold, or something. I haven't had a cold for over 25 years. Guess I have an awesome immune system. LOL

I am fine, just taking it one day at a time. Visiting RN was here yesterday and wrapped my leg and also put on a compression sock. Seems to be helping, but you never know.

My brother still being a horses a**. He refuses to talk to me and finally sent me my mother's ring after she passed away 27 October 2017. First said all her jewelry got stolen, didn't believe him, then said he found the ring but I had to promise not to sell it before he would send it to me. RIGHT. But low and behold he sent me the ring, said he found it in her house. Another lie of course. But I got the ring, now if he would sell the house so I could get my share, I would be a happy camper. House is fully furnished and the house on the market right now is worth $800,000.00 will I see any of it???? I don't think so, the greedy so and so will find a way to keep it all.

Congrats on your retirement. I too am retired and best move I ever made. Taking one day at a time. Still not able to eat what I want. I try, but food still tastes like sawdust. My neighbor brought me some canteloupe and a donut. I ate the fruit OK but gagged on the donut. So donuts are out. LOL Everything right now is trial and error. I made some Irish Stew and it was gross. heaved it all. I have an easy recipe for chicken. I might try that. 1 can coke, 1 C ketchup or l/2 ketchup and 1/2 salsa. and chicken. Cook on stove until chicken done. I have some Bob Evan Mashed potatoes, and I might make those. you never know.

Howdee Kim, I am up and about. FREEZING my toosh off, but then what else is new. Have on two tops, long pants, very, very very heavy bathrobe and when I am done with computer, will sit on my special Lift Chair and put on my 3 blankets. LOL

Son Brian, coming over with his friend and his friend is going to fix my shower so I can get in it. I can get in, but getting out is another story. It is 11" from the ground. Way too high for this Senior. My son fixed my steps getting into the house and I am OK. Got my lift chair, fixing my shower and fixed my steps outside, I am a happy camper. BTW the steps outside my house (there are 5) have a 6" riser and I need 4". My son added 2/4's and I am fine.

I took a shower last night and got stuck and had a difficult time extricating myself and after finally getting out and went to sit on potty and I was 1/2on and half off, now that must have been pretty. I think that is why I am exhausted

I contacted a shower company and they are coming tomorrow to give me a quote. My shower has an 11" opening and I cannot get my legs to go that high. My bad knees.

Hi ladies sorry I haven't been around. On Friday I had a horrendous fall in the bathroom and tried to right myself for 4 hours and all i got was a skinned knee and many, many bruises. I finally had to call my son and he with a neighbor was able to right me. BUT I had worn my arms and legs to a frenzy and was not able to do anything but sleep. So I did that and today is Sunday and I am still recovering. I will not be able to stay on long because my arms are already tiring

Hi Kim, I too watch all the Christmas Hallmark Movies and all the rest. I cannot wait for the Father Christmas Wedding. I loved the Valentine ones and I just liked them all. As for Jesse Stone, I have watched all of them more than once. I love the Character. Felt bad when the dog died, but he did get another one. so I was happy.

I don't watch any of the reality shows because they are all FIXED. There was a gal in my mobile home Park that was visiting her grandmother and she told us she was from LA and was scheduled to go on the bachelorette and it was all scripted. She was told when to cry and when to kiss the bachelor, and she told them in no uncertain terms what they could do with the script. I do watch the one reality show that took the bachelor and bachelorette to task and it showed how it was all scripted. It got cancelled, am I surprised??? Those shows put pressure on them to cancel and they refused, but the network was just a tad tooo powerful. I watch dancing with the stars for the costumes and the dance. I know already who is going to win. Not hard to figure out. That was why Max dropped out, because he was told he was going to be sent home even before the show aired. I tape it just so I can watch the dancing, all the other "crap" doesn't do anything for me, only a filler.

As for Netflix, I did get it because they picked up LUCIFER, my favorite show. I am now watching Comedians drinking Coffee. Very interesting and no commercials, and just one after another.

I never watch the news, all the killings are depressing. No thank you, I have enough drama in my life. LOL

I used to watch TBBT but enjoyed it more before they brought in all the women. There is one gal, Bernadette when she comes on I had to mute her because her voice was like someone scratching on a blackboard. So I just don't watch it anymore.

I tried to get into Modern Family and the Middle, but could not watch, and nothing they did was funny, so I never watched. I now watch The Good Doctor, 911, Elementary Blue Bloods, Hawaii 50 also Chopped, Worst Cooks, Childrens Baking I am sure there are more. But I do watch Father Brown, Death in Paradise, Endevour, Dr Blake Mysteries and Doc Martin on PBS.

In between I do lots of reading, don't get me started on the awesome books I have read.

Bev emoticon

Hi Bev,

I have been watching all the Christmas Hallmarks, they had Christmas in July and we DVR a bunch of those movies and I've been watching them. Also, my husband and I watched all the Jesse Stone with Tom Selleck on the Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. Those were very good. You can tell they had to clean up some of the language for Hallmark. There was a lot of twist and turns with the Jesse Stone series, and I think he was making that series while he was doing Blue Bloods too. The Jesse Stone is also a cop series.

Some programs we watch are: Walking Dead, Black List, The Good Doctor, Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, The Middle, Game of Thrones. Just to name a few...LOL!

I don't watch hardly any reality TV but like the home fixer up shows. It helps give me ideas on what I can do to fix up things around my house.

We also have Netflix, I love watching a series with no commercial and you can watch one show after another. Something that is my Saturday/Sunday...just watching shows. But it don't make for a productive weekend for me.

My husband and I also love Movies and have a large DVD collection. So, we always have something playing on the TV.

Chat with you again soon!

~Kim

Hi Kim,

I have my Hallmark Movies on Sat and Sun too and if my son comes over he gets hooked and has to watch one till the end. Then tells me to protect it so he can watch again. I did my homework and checked out DISH and the other one cannot think of the name right now and I could get more with DISH and they don't go up like the other one. DIRECTTV. I remembered.
DIRECT TV is now owned by ATT and that is why I would never go with them. We had an ATT service man come into the park and I had a nice chat with him and he whispered that he too had DISH. LOL I have DISH AMERICA and then pay extra for the Heartland package. My bill comes to $61 a month. They went up and I called and told them to cancel the whole damn thing, and they immediately said they would give me a discount and I would only have to pay $61. and I agreed. Ask to speak to a supervisor and watch how fast they come down on the price. LOL My neighbor had DIRECT TV and they kept going up on her so I had her go with DISH and got her a $50 savings. She is very happy. She went with DISH AMERICA.

I don't bundle anything because If I want to cancel something I cancel, if you bundle you have a difficult time and they do not like me because I refuse to bundle.

I have also been watching some of the PBS programming. My favorite is VICTORIA and now waiting for them to film it in England and when they have all seen it, they will then send it to the US. My friend in England keeps me posted. I love POLDARK, Dr Blake , Doc Martin, Death in Paradise and Inspectors Lewis and Morse.

Do you have any favorites on Hallmark that you save? I also watch Chopped and Worse Cooks in America. (can some of these people really not know how to cook???) One gal was cutting the meat with the wrong side of the knife and had to be told to turn the knife around. Wow what a difference, she said. LOL One gal said she has gone through (burned up) about 3 microwaves. One gal said she had her gas turned off because she didn't know how to use her oven. LOL Used her Microwave for everything. How sad. they had to butcher a fish, now that was hilarious. I was laughing so hard, there were tears running down my face. One lady refused to cut the fish because she said he was watching her. LOL Ann Burrell and Robert Irvine were the judges and they both were laughing so hard.

What are your favorite programs on TV? I had to buy Netflix because my all time favorite Lucifer was picked up by them. I am enjoying 911, but at times gets a tad too grafic for me.

I love the Hallmark channel. I have it on all day Saturday and Sunday. My husband comes in the room and gets hooked watching the Hallmark channel too. Its funny! We have DISH also. I'll have to check about DISH AMERICA and see if they have some of the other shows we like to watch too, and if that would save us some $$.

Take Care!

Kim, I have DISH. I did lots of homework and many phone calls and decided on DISH. They have all my programs and I get the Hallmark Package which is awesome. When I worked, I was the only one in my dept of 52 women who didn't have cable of any sort. The reason was when I retired, I didn't want to have to cancel it if I couldn't afford it. But now that I am retired, and getting more $$ than I anticipated, I have invested in DISH. I was paying $50 and then they went up to $77. WHOA, I called and told them I would have to cancel because I cannot pay those prices. The gal said, "just a minute", how about $61 a month, would that be acceptable??? I said OK and then I thought later I should have held out for more. LOL But I am happy with DISH.

Here is a trick I learned from DISH, If you order DISH AMERICA, that is something that IS NOT advertised because it is so much cheaper. That is what I got and the Hallmark Package is $6 a month, but they charge me $3 for 6 months (then I call and they extend it)

the movies are walking distance from my park, The theaters are on Garfield and I live right near them. but now that I have Hallmark, I never go to the movies and before cable I went twice a week. So the savings is affordable. Call DISH and ask them how much Dish AMERICA is and you might be surprised.

My weekend is going to be nice and quiet. All by myself and that is how I like it.

Bev

Wow...that is big $$. I don't have solar panel for our house. Remember those big cable dishes to get HBO and Showtime back in the 80s and now we have to tiny ones that does the same thing. I'm waiting for the solar panels to get be a tiny box that does the same thing ... lol! And, I'll wait until the price is affordable too.

Hope you have a good weekend Bev!

My husband and I are going to the RiverCats game tonight to see Barry Zito! Go RiverCats!

Kim, it should help big time. Those are big $$, so it better work. I live in a mobile home and I cannot have a whole fan or solar panels. I met this really nice man at Starbucks and we shared a table and he was selling someone in Nevada a solar panel for his house. I nearly gagged when I heard what he quoted him. $6000 up front. I would have hung up but I guess the man was going for it, because he forwarded a check to him.

Bev, Stay Cool! We just had a guy come to put in a Whole House Fan. I'm excited to hopefully save on SMUD and not have to run my A/C so much. I wish I had done it sooner. I'll let you know if it helps my utility bill go down.

Happy Monday and Good Morning to all.

Gonna be in the 100s today and tomorrow and staying indoors . I am dealing with a pulled groin on my left side. Very uncomfortable. Went online to see if there was an easy fix. not really just a few people trying to see me a contraption. I don't think so.

Here I was complaining about my knees and now GOD said I am going to send you something really hurtful. No more complaining of my bad knees, I learned my lesson.

My space rent went up $4l, a month beginning in Sept, so I cancelled my ADT. WEll, ADT corporate called me and was outraged at the price I was paying, $54, and said she could drop it to $14.99. WOW, now that was a surprise. So I retained the program. I remember I have DISH and they went up to $77 and I called and cancelled and they dropped it down to $51 a month. HMMMM maybe there is something in this cancelling.

Good Afternoon and hope all is well in your corner of the world. Gonna be another hot one today. I am staying indoors with all my wooden shutters on my windows and A/C going already. Ouch. SMUD must be doing backflips with the summer season upon us.

Kim I am 100% Italian and was brought up with PASTA. My mother would make Ravioli from scratch and gnocci and she tought me how, but at my age, I don't bother. I don't speak the language, but I do understand it. I went to Italy and had an awesome time. Glad I did all my traveling when I could walk, now I am suffering with OA in both my knees and have a difficult time. Ciao Bev

Changing _Turtle.- are you the same one that used to be on 55+Females? Just a quick note, that while I am on the computer, I do marching in place and trust me that helps. There is also a diet plan called The Carbohydrates Addicts Diet, and what I like about this diet, is there are NO restrictions, you can eat anything and that is good for me. I cannot give up my pasta, that has been and will always be a staple in my house.

I pinched a nerve in my upper back and shoulder and have been in a lot of pain. No fun. Going to the Chiropractor and made an appointment with Kaiser. I don't feel like eating much or doing anything because of the pain. Hoping to feel better soon.

Went to a nutrition class last night, I'm now thinking about the food I eat and making sure the food is healthy before I eat it.
I did a protein shake this morning with my leafy greens.
And trying to be mindful about how much caffeine I'm consuming. I know I need to cut back on this.

Okay I hit the canned whip cream again, now it is gone and I can go on. Will not buy that again had not had it for years now see why.

Today eating on track and took hour long walk to and from going the long way to Dollar store on 13th and S. Love that store but was sensible and only spent $3.25.

Fot dinner tonight having a salad with lettuce, tomatoes and avocado. Also having vegetarian spaghetti which has zucchini celery onion and yellow bell peppers. I am having my "5 alive to stay healthy"

Everything in moderation is the way to go. Spray can whip cream is so good but shooting it in my mouth is not moderation. Did that last night. Tonight will stay away from it.

Went walking to thrift stores and walked for over an hour. I found lots of neat things and am very happy.

We had a new Caretaker from the VA for my disabled hubby.

Back on track eating low calorie meals today. I am going to Jack in the box for lunch and having a Chicken fiesta on whole wheat pita bread. I read an article about eating healthy foods at Jack in the box and that was a good choice. There are no fast food places in my neighborhood so I treat myself to one when i am near them on my outings.

Valentine day or is it candy day. Hubby and I shared two boxes of candy. We have been eating it all day.Tomorrow we go back on track

Tomorrow I have a caretaker coming for hubby and. I am going to Oak Park to shop at the Food Source supermarket. It is cheaper than Safeway that is nearer to but too expensive. I have to take a bus that comes only every hour but it I'd worth it. I am also going out to eat lunch at Jack in the box too a special treat

I hear what you say about people getting what they need by reading an may not post. On one team I am on I post positive quotes that help people I will do that here. And I will post what is working for me on my weight loss journey and what is not in the hopes that it helps someone. I will give even though I may not receive.

I'm sorry to hear that you felt people are unfriendly in this site. People are apart of this group for different reasons, some are motivated by posting everyday and some are motivated by the messages they read. I'm sorry you didn't get what you were expecting from this team, but I never found anyone to be unfriendly and I'm sorry you felt that way.

Good luck to you on your journey. I wish you well!

Got chilled yesterday walking in the rain two miles to a doctor's appointment I had. Staying in bed today. I made a big pot of chicken noodle soup. Used whole wheat noodles was very good.

Kimmie so nice to see you here I was feeling so alone. Sorry you have not been feeling well and I bet this cold rainy day is not helping you any. They say it will clear up Wednesday and will be dry the rest of the week. I go for a mile or more walk daily and really got wet on my walk today. I was only going to walk to the Native American Healthcare Center a mile walk total there and back but it ended up being two miles. I had forgoten my purse and had to head back home for that. I was chilled even though I carried an emoticon my jeans were soaked from the knees down and the jeans jacket I chose to wear was a dumb move. Tomorrow we are to have scattered rains and I may not get wet.
My name is Kathryn

Hello Sacramento!!
Daily goals for me are to stay within my calorie range, drink 64 oz of water, read my daily devotional, and exercise 30+ mins each day.

Caretaker from VA came today to take care of hubby. I went to the bank, Grocery Outlet and the library. Walked
2.70 miles in 68 minutes not my fastest but was looking around I guess you would call it smelling the roses. So many strange people by the Convention Center there was a convention of anime going on.

Hello and welcome to 2018.

Hi I live in midtown Sacramento and am proud to be a Spark Sacramento member. I have lost over 40 pounds and kept it off 6 years. I have a small goal of losing 19 more pounds by June 2, 2018. It is not my long time goal but is the one I am working on this year. I am a walking fool and have a challenge to myself of walking at least 1 mile every day. Most days I walk more than that. I am 61 years old and think I do pretty good. This is the year to get on track and stay. Join me in posting your goal and posting often about your daily life. Let's get to know each other and become friends.
