Good to know about the Fleet Feet online resources. I was thinking that it would be easy enough to use a map web site to create a few different loops through different areas of town depending on how far I wanted to walk. Downtown is a nice place to do that, especially on a weekend. Or walk by all the cool houses in East Sac. Or perhaps there's a more rural area close by (including the bike trail) that helps change the scenery while walking.

I keep seeing a nice track when I drive through my daily tasks. I think it's on Hurley between Bell and Fulton (closer to Bell). Can't even tell you what type of facility it is. This gives me an excuse to stop and check it out -- first to see if the public can use it. I'll report back.

there is a track that is behind the North Highlands community Center, I use it while my girls are doing gymnatics every tuesday afternoon.

I need 400m or 800m. I'm close to SacState, but I was concerned they don't allow public usage during the school year.

hmmm. did you want a specific distance? There are many walk/run paths in the city w/the distances found on line such as McKinley Park & South Side Park.

I find that the Fleet Feet Sports web site has a lot of helpful info too: (www.fleetfeetsacramento.com) On their resource page they note following places to Run or Walk:

McKinley Park (1.05 mile loop)
William Land Park (2.01 mile loop)
Capitol Park (1.06 mile loop)

I would think that many of the high schools, colleges & universities would allow some public use of their tracks too.
